He might come back but I strongly doubt it. Not much of a future as an SC2 pro gamer past a certain age and there are far better things to do if the fiery passion isn't there.

No streaming, likely to get bounced in first round of IEM. I'm sure his team feels as though they've gotten their moneys worth. /sarcasm "Even if injured a player should NOT be paid IMO, all the more motivation for them to rehab and get back in shape." This is beyond stupid for a number of reasons but not really something that needs to be discussed here. Naniwa also just decided to quit and not accept a new contract from his team so he isn't going to be raking in any more money. I'm sure

Return and play the game, otherwise stay away from it. It's as simple as that. I wonder if he sets his eyes on another game or considers taking on work/study.

Besides, there is no comparing sports athletes to e-sports "athletes", as the two industries are worlds apart. At the end of the day, it's a game. If he doesn't enjoy it, he should feel free to stop. It's not a career, it's not a life-long contract nor is it a commitment, it's simply entertainment brought to a professional level. If he were a caster it would be different, as that is an actual job which does come with responsibilities, but in the end, if you don't enjoy something, you should be free to rid yourself of it if you can afford it, even it if is a job.

Of course, you can say what you want about Naniwa and contracts and sports and whatever you think you may be an authority on, but I'm reasonably confident that Naniwa would not quit (even temporarily) unless there is no motivation for him to muster. He wants to perform, and if he knows he can't then he won't play. It's likely that Alliance and Naniwa are on the same page on this matter, or he would have left Alliance first. The idea that injured athletes shouldn't be paid is beyond ridiculous, though. If you're not being paid well, how do you suppose they will pay for treatment? Pull money out of their kneecaps?

Interesting question... hearing him talk about his early gaming career does put a question mark around what grades he has. As far as I understood he more or less dropped everything to pursue gaming.
