I haven't seen much of a change in Twitch viewership

twitch for SPL this season is easily 2-3x more than last season, we regularly break 20k now whereas before it was 5-10k or so for most games

It's totally all because we got a league caster for proleague. Duh

my bad. last season i watched almost exclusively on youtube (even though i had a twitch subscription). there also seems to be a lot more people in the gom studio for gsl. things are looking up.

Watching games like Reality vs SK is kind of like watching a train wreck, it's awful but you just can't look away. This is great news in every respect, but one point of concern is that this could very well be a result of the novelty factor of these weird super long games. If this becomes a more standard approach to the game, it will get old really fast.

Viewership overall has looked pretty decent so far for 2014, not nearly as bad as I had feared, but I am little worried about ZvP and ZvT degenerating into turtle fests. I don't think that will have much casual appeal in the long run.

Indeed. I have seen 30k+ during Samsung vs SKT, while previous season Grand Finals peaked at 18k...
Interesting thing - OGN global channel for LoL is usually about 30k-40k for regular games, which is not that much of a difference. Imo that says there is not that much difference in hardcore viewers (so the people who are willing to watch the best games even in unusual hours) but there is huge amount of casual people who just watch LCS and player streams.

yeah i personally think that if sc2 foreigners were more relevant (say, if we had 10 stephanos) sc2 would be still massive, a bit part of 2011 was foreigner relevance

Only tripled? No chance for eSports....

Good to see ProLeague doing much better. It's also really fun to watch, and you could actually tell that audiences tripled by checking out the stream.
Wish it was that awesome when I was in Korea!

Sweet! I just hope we get some fixes to stop the game going the way of 2012 before we lose all those viewers again...

I'm confused, so is it the end of the world or not. I was lead to believe sc2 is dying for the past 2 years.
