It's so stupid how in the modern world we're still using foot soldiers. Just bomb the shit out of N Korea and get it over with.

A lot of these players have held off for long enough and there is nothing wrong with going out on top (if it does end that way), also Korea isn't the only nation with mandatory military service.

That was back when the game was still getting worked out. He really doesn't have the mechanics to compete in modern sc2.

For a pro gamer whose dedicated his entire life to sc2, there is no logical transition. He won't be able to make as much money in any other field. So, unless he's independently wealthy, that would suck. I'm Cypriot and we have mandatory military service too (Cyprus was invaded in 1974 by Turkey and they took half our island). Mandatory service is the biggest waste of life.

First, he doesn't want to retire, as he said, he wants to give a shot when he comes back, and if it proves impossible to come back as a player, he wants to do something related to SC2 anyway. Second, this is not bullshit. I don't believe you can really judge while not leaving in a country permanently under the threat of a neighbour country that has nuclear missile (which really don't make up for the lack of a conventional army).

Mandatory service is the biggest waste of life. Not necessarily man. Some people actually get a lot out of it. I've had friends who came back and they said it helped make them a Man. They viewed it as an initiation so to speak. I can see both sides to the coin and there is still plenty of opportunity out there for them if they are willing to go back and finish their studies. Not many people can say they were pro gamers.

And what were your friends before if it helped them make a Man? a woman? o.O

So you would be ok with giving up your life for 2+ years to move to a military camp and be ordered around all day while eating whatever food they give you. You realize they don't allow alcohol or weed right? :D
