BenQ Announces Sponsorship of World-Leading Pro Gaming Team Evil Geniuses
Partnership Cements BenQ’s Commitment to the Gaming Community With XL and RL Series Monitors That Help the Pros ConQuer the Game
COSTA MESA, Calif. — Oct. 16, 2013 — BenQ America Corp., an internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations, today announced a partnership with Evil Geniuses (EG), a world-leading pro gaming team and new media agency. The partnership will equip the pro gamers at EG with the latest display solutions from BenQ’s gaming-centric XL and RL series of monitors built specifically for eSports, and will further the team’s ability to travel the world competing in the most famed gaming tournaments.
Recently featured in The New York Times and considered the “Yankees of video games,” Evil Geniuses represents more than thirty internationally known pro gamers across five different gaming titles, including StarCraft® ll: Heart of the Swarm™, Marvel vs. Capcom 3™, Dota 2™, World of WarCraft®: Mists of Pandaria™, and League of Legends™. As part of the partnership, BenQ will work alongside famed pro gamers Clinton “Fear” Loomis, Stephen “Snoopeh” Ellis, Lee “Jaedong” Jae Dong, and others in furthering the development of the company’s award-winning line of gaming products.
Evil Geniuses’ Brandon Freytag commented: “We’re looking forward to our partnership with BenQ, which has become the leading pro gaming monitor brand worldwide. Having seen the monitors in action at the top global gaming tournaments, we’re impressed with the feature set they offer, delivering tremendous advantages for improving gameplay. Among the capabilities we really like are its Black eQualizer for greater visibility in dark areas, high contrast ratios that don’t strain the eyes, Smart Scaling to switch between screen sizes manually, and smooth refresh rates and fast response times, which greatly reduce the potential for error.”

Five? Where's Quake Live?
Wow, I thought LZGamer had it rough. To his own team, DaHang doesn't even exist...

They don't have a Quake Division anymore. Alex just likes DaHang so while he doesn't have an EG contract he still sends him to any Quake events that pop up in return for promo stuff, etc. I might not be remembering right though.

That would be so awesome! I remember the good old days of cs 1.6 with their canadian squad, its was pretty nice. Like Alex once said "Canadian CS is the foundation of the history of Team Evil Geniuses" but I guess CS won't ever be what it used to with moba/arts all over the place. Just really happy that this team started with canadian players (even a canadian organization but I'm not entirely sure on this one) and made it to what it is today.
On topic, grats for EG! Another good sponsor with good products. GJ guys!

As someone who doesn't follow e-sports beyond StarCraft I kind of thought it was strange not to see Counter Strike listed among their games...when WoW was...

you may not have to wait long to see a CS:GO team wear the EG jersey
To return to Counter-Strike or not to return to Counter-Strike...that is the question. #GlobalOffensive

The real question to me is where's SF4.
Both MvC3 and SF4 are the same division since some of their players play both games.
Good for EG. Hopefully they invest that money into player infrastructure. Then maybe 'world leading' will apply to their pro gaming team as well as to their 'new media' company.
looks like EG is only team with strong sponsorship but still i guess more money will go to lol section cause sc2 is falling out of glory fast with non stop retire ....

More like LoL section attracting sponsors, sc2 section profiting from it.
EG does a very good job promoting ESPORTS I feel. Even though their players are not the best of the best (SC2 at least) they are among the most followed and liked. This attracts sponsor $$ which allows the team to do more stuff (participate in more events, pick up more players, etc.).

Jaedong? Or are we conveniently ignoring when EG does well?

I doubt Grubby would ever go back to EG. AFAIK the whole reason he left is because he was able to get a direct sponsorship with steelseries and "cut the middleman" back when EG had less comprehensive contracts.

aLive, Oz, Revival, Jaedong, Suppy, Xenocider as well. EG is actually improving a lot as a team.

I didn't say they were bad, I just said they're not the best of the best (Jaedong is not the best of the best, despite being really really good).
I'm a bit nervous about EG, I guess Jaedong cements them in sc2, but it seems like they've just moved the stephano/idra money elsewhere into other games.
