What the ever living fuck balls dickwad! Fuck you Blizz, fuck you and your inability to grasp that winrates mean jack fucking shit! Winrates are just that--winrates! No one whined when Savior had an almost 90% winrate against Terran! No one batted an eyelash when nada, midas, oov had an 80% winrate against Zerg; audience participation boomed! Imbalance is something that brings audiences in! Do you think Idra was famous for good play or for whining about balance? FUCK YES MAKE THE GAME IMBALANCED! We WANT the game to be imbalanced. We want to have to make maps that forces strategies instead of preserving them, we want to be forced to cheese or die, we want to see someone figure out a way to stop said cheese, we want macro games to birth out of a world where cheese happens 90% of the time. BECAUSE ONLY THEN ARE MACRO GAMES IMPRESSIVE! Outside of this post I will still remain objective and show the pros and fucking cons of everything you implement, everything you have implemented, and everything you will implement--but FUCK! FUCKITY FUCK-FUCK YOU FUCKING FUCKS! Blizzard! Stop being so... EA!

People please kindly ignore the spoilered text.

This has very little to do with Blizzard's balancing strategy. Significant shrinkage was basically inevitable.

Shrinkage happened because SCII isn't as popular in Korea and their sponsors is having financial problems. Regardless, sad news

Isn't this more to do with Woongjin's financial troubles? Even if SC2 was booming I doubt they'd be able to afford player salaries. This has happened before, see Hwaesung Oz.

So unfortunate to see all these teams getting hit with financial problems.

Why is SK's economy so bad these days? I thought the country was suppose to be booming in that category.

SK's been in a recession for the last few years, pretty bad one too.

Though I doubt it's cause of the recession, SC2 just isn't popular enough I think

Wonder what's happening with Proleague, those rumors about it ending are starting to seem more solid. Then again even GSTL, while still very cool, has been reduced to being so small because of some of the old eSF teams jumping ship. I guess we could also end up with two of these mini team-leagues if there still is a proleague and they are unable to negotiate a merge.

It's been confirmed that the next Proleague season will start in late november.

I'd say this has more to do with Woongjin the company and less to do with Woongjin the team. We all knew both STX and Woongjin were in financial troubles, and at least I found it very unlikely that KeSPA would leverage another Team 8.

GSTL ends late november, and I hope that the korean scene will stabilize around a joint team league with fewer teams. Right now we have:

KeSPA:
KT, SKT1, Jin Air, CJ, Samsung, (Woongjin)

eSF:
AZUBU, SouL, StarTale, FXO

Unaffiliated:
Axiom, LG-IM, Prime, MVP

With Woongjin probably disappearing around the time of the next proleague, we'll be down to 13 teams in Korea. If SouL dissolves into another team as well, we could have a 12-team Proleague, broadcasted by GOM...

One can dream...
Teams: IM, Jin Air, Invictus || Players: Maru, GuMiho, INnoVation, Ryung, sOs, Squirtle, NaNiwa, Has, Zoun, Life, Rogue, Dark

I think GOMTV and KeSPA really need to work together. Seriously, this political gridlock is ridiculous, and SC2 in Korea is struggling VERY BADLY!

And yeah, you have a good point about Woongjin the company. It is on the verge of bankruptcy!

This isn't the end of the world as some people claim it to be. Teams lose funding and disband even in the BW days however we have never seen the rise of so many legit foreign teams in the history of RTS games ever. In my opinion this may end up being a good thing for now as teams like Axiom are picking up promising young korean players and teams like EG are able to keep the tyrant JD alive & wealthy with arguably some of the best playing conditions out there. Also I am sure with a lot of korean players being stuck in korea for the time being they are unable to realize the amount of foreign fans out there that love them. I think JD is a perfect example of this when he was picked up by EG and was able to stream/twitter/compete in foreign events. This allowed him to see that although there may not be as many korean fans as he once had in korea there is swarms of foreign fans who love him and will come to events he plays in.
JD, need I say more? :D

Question for BW fans: have there been teams that dominated PL in the regular season as thoroughly as Woongjin did this past season?

If Woongjin doesn't participate in Proleague next season does this mean that like GSTL the champions and runner-ups of the previous seasons won't be participating? It's funny how the best performing teams are leaving the leagues. lol

Wow...
Even if there is no Korean scene or it isn't thriving, Koreans are going to be the best players in sc2.
I fear there will be no more Sc2 Proleagues.
WCS hurt both Koreans and foreigners, probably Koreans more.

the statement makes little sense. it is difficult to compete in proleague but they wont disband. it would make more sense if they just disband altogether. at this point, if they are going to send in a zombie team, it does not reflect well on the parent company and sponsors and proleague, they might as well not participate and save the expenses.

Even thought it was inevitable in such a crowded Korean scene, it's still a shock to see Woongjin collapsing like this. They were going so strong for so long... and then they weren't.
