The team looks to be close to official disbandment at this point.
According to a picture taken at the GSL last night, GSTL will start up again on September 3rd. With AZUBU's current roster it seems unlikely that they will participate in the next season of GSTL.

I hope Genius finds a team, but some of these players aren't so desired I think. I'm rooting for Symbol though
Well, Symbol will be top pick up for sure, he is the only one here that is consistent, always was a top player, so I don't worry for him, but we will see about other players.
I am surprised that the team has held up this long, considering the drama surrounding it.... i guess Clauf may try to be formed and pick the players up instead =)

Just seems like I need some good news ATM.
Do you not understand the fact that roster strength notwithstanding, there is no sponsor paying or supporting the team? I really don't see how people can still be hopeful for AZUBU as a team.
Maybe Azubu's just cutting the perceived "dead" weight. Maybe funding is drying up and they can't support as big of a team, and as such players are leaving or being given the opportunity to leave.
I wonder how much the "main" Azubu is actually supporting the team. Or if the team will stick together and look for a new sponsor.

There is no AZUBU. The SC2 team has not had a sponsor for a couple of months now? Maybe a bit more, I can't quite remember.

I wanna say there was a statement that while Azubu Korea shutdown Azubu HQ in Germany would still continue to sponsor the team. How much that sponsorship amounts to or how much of a load of shit that was I can't say. Maybe I'm remembering wrong..

AZUBU HQ in Germany does not exist. People have investigated it. I'm not gonna sift through those couple of threads to find it now, but it's all there.
Sad that Azubu turned out to be shady, it provided a home for a lot of talented and extremely good Code S level players.
Now my hope is that all the Azubu players find a new warm home that provides them with plenty of opportunities to continue to shine. In particular I hope SuperNova and Genius find good teams and I wish them the best of luck in that regard.

Honestly at this point in time players like Symbol, san, Genius, BBoongBBoong and SuperNoVa would be worthwhile additions to pretty much any team's roster. And there's lots of teams that would need players of this caliber, both in Korea and outside of it. So I'm not worried for them.
As for Sleep, VINES and TOP they're not exactly on the same level, so perhaps retirement seems a more likely option, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see them on a lower profile foreigner team or maybe as coaches on a Korean team?
We'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out. :/
I wonder if we see AZUBU in GSTL with such a small line up (they won't be the only small team) especially if other players are looking at other options.
The number of people removed in the last two months make a decent team all on their own. I wonder how long Azubu will last, but I hope that San is able to find a good team. He is too good not to.

Well, he got 2nd place at ASUS ROG Summer, only losing series to TaeJa (1-3) and Happy (2-3), while going undefeated against all non-terrans he met (including Hyun, DRG, and whoever). Yet failed to qualify for EU Premier in ONLINE play (while destroying all the qualifiers and screwing over Aligulac and TLPD). So yeah, i would say he is pretty good.

Was is not a plyon?
Once San defeated Nestea, Boxer and Ensnare in Code-S, he became ManZenith. Today he is one of the heavier hitters in team leagues.
honestly, this was expected. We've known about AZUBU's shady background from a while back, not at all surprised that they might disband. GL to the players!
Would like to see Liquid`San. He seems to be close to TaeJa and Liquid lacks in their protoss lineup (though HerO is of course great). On the other hand, it's true that STX disbandment gives them a VERY strong competition for jobs.

Fuck this :/
so much bad news lately. I liked Zubbuuuu too
Lets be honest though this has been a long time coming. For all it's shady activities I'm actually amazed Azubu has honoured the contracts of the players until they expire rather than just dropping them (although I doubt any of them are on actual salaries so "honouring" the contract wouldn't be that hard).
Once AZUBU dissolves eventually, I can see Symbol, SuperNova, San, and maybe Genius finding another team soon. Probably foreign. The others I'm not quite sure about...

Quoting this all the way, I feel that San would be perfect on Liquid. -talent? Check. -nice guy? Check. -huge balls? Turbocheck. Otherwise, he would have quitted years ago. -protoss? Check. Liquid's rooster would benefit him. Nazgul pls
This doesn't surprise me at all. This game isn't big enough to support all these teams and all these players. At the end of this you may have roughly 10 teams in Korea total and a lot of players will have retired due to not being competitive enough.

It has less to do with the scene being over-saturated or the game not being able to support it, and more with the fact that the team has been effectively sponsor-less for like a couple of months if not more.
young stallions will not attend any "courage" tournaments to became "famous" because it seems like no one can guarantee you will get your salary, that your team will not disband etc. Foreign scene seems much better but there aren't any new players either.
Year 2013. will be remembered as first year of unique and great tournament (WCS) but it will be remembered as year of disbands and retirements.
I mean, that intreview with Flash gave me so much insight and I understand why Jangbi decided to quit. There is no joy anymore, they played BW because they wanted to, they play sc2 because they have to. BW finals were played on big stadiums in Korea, now Proleague finals have maybe 100 people watching it live :/ Blizzard got involved to much and that is not their game, they should do what they are best in - game development. Leave game "spread" to those with more knowledge.

Well written. Problem was locking down Starcraft II too much (no LAN play, sending lawyers onto people who make LAN,etc) and suing KeSPA sealed its fate. The game lost any chance of gaining explosive momentum. There just aren't enough tournaments compared to the amount of teams and players out there.
This was always going to happen. Blizzard reaped what they sowed, by overly protecting their IP now they are alone. With no friends they lack the expertise so it will continue to be a sinking ship.
You need 'people passion' to qualify as the father of E-sports. It really sucks for Starcraft fans, but truthfully this is good for our future. If a company like Blizzard was successful it would have opened the door for other companies like EA to join in and contaminant the scene with their dictatorship.
Remember the Starcraft e-sports scene was never invented by any company, it was made by 'you' the passionate fans!

And sad news for everyone
LiquidSan! LiquidSan! Seriously though... Is Liquid looking to pick up more players? It would be nice seeing more protoss rep on the Liquid lineup.
Sad news for Genius and San, with some luck they'll have new teams soon. Hope to see that they keep playing, I'll admit, seeing B4 in GSL without a team was a little depressing.

what is happening to starcarft man so sad, so many retirements and sponsors going bust and teams disbanding , anyone know if similar things are happening in Dota 2 and League of Legends professional teams?
