You were the first one to secure your semi-final placement. How do you feel?
I had to play the very first match just like yesterday so it was tiring. My performance was not good but I am still relieved that I was able to make it.
Your opponent, RorO, was famous for his ZvZ macro games.
So I thought of all-in strategies. I was planning on mixing in all-in strategies with macro strategies but I think a lot of luck followed me.
RorO was the GSL champion before you won WCS.
Since that was for WoL and I was a HotS champion, I told myself that I would win no matter who my opponent was.
You used swarm hosts for the final game. Was it difficult to control your army composition?
I could tell that RorO was feeling cornered as the match progressed. So it wasn’t really all that difficult.
Zergs seemed to struggling at the beginning of HotS but now it seems like all Zergs are flourishing.
I think that Zerg players learned to adapt really quickly. I think balance fits well right now and the winning player is the better player.
If you do advance to the finals, you will have to play a ZvT.
I’m not sure if I’ll get to the finals since my semi-finals opponent is sOs but if I do make it, I think I’ll be facing INnoVation because INnoVation is the best player right now in my opinion.
INnoVation stated in his interview yesterday that he would win if he got to face you again.
I too am confident that I can beat him. Right I’m confident regardless of whom I meet. This time around, I feel like I’ll end it before it gets to a 4-3 score.
ForGG’s performance yesterday has become a hot topic for conversations. How do you feel?
I watched his match vs sOs yesterday. He has a really awesome style. I watched his TvZ VODs and I think he’s only strong at TvP. I don’t see myself in a dangerous situation anytime soon.
This kind of tournament format must be unfamiliar.
I am okay with playing games in a consecutive order. I just think it’s really difficult to have to play them early in the morning though. I think I made a smart decision when I decided to take a short nap in the waiting room earlier.
There is a big chance that you will have to play your matches early tomorrow morning as well.
If I endure it three days in a row, then I think I will be able to adapt to that kind of situation. I was less tired today than I was for yesterday. So I can’t help but feel like I’ll be in an even better condition for tomorrow.
Anything else you would like to say?
I hope sOs wins. I want to show a great performance for the semi-finals as well.

You advanced to the semi-finals without a single loss. Tell us how you feel.
I had to play a PvP vs Alicia, who advanced out of his group as first. Since Soulkey and INnoVation also advanced out of their groups as first, I viewed everyone like a tier one opponent. Thanks to that, I didn’t drop my guard and I was able to focus more.
It was a very one-sided victory. Were you expecting such a result?
I focused heavily on scouting for all my games so I was confident that I wouldn’t get pushed. I have this know-how for storms that only I know of so I knew that I wasn’t going to get pushed back for game two.
Your opponent, Alicia, seemed to like to go for starport units mostly. You responded with mostly stalkers.
When I scouted him in game one with my probe, I noticed that he was chrono boosting his warp gates. So I prepared myself for all kinds of attacks, not just startport related attacks. I was also able to play well because my opponent got pushed back.
Alicia repeated his game one build order for game three.
I knew that he wouldn’t just forget about the build order completely just because it didn’t work for one game. Especially because PvPs always have build orders getting crossed over so I did not exclude any possibilities.
Were you feeling pressured for today’s match?
It’s not like I wasn’t feeling pressured. However, winning is all about maintaining your composure so I did my best.
You will face Soulkey for the semi-finals.
Even though I lost to Soulkey last time in the semi-finals, I did not brood over it or get upset. After I saw Soulkey hyung win the championship, I felt inspired to do the same so that I could also win a championship and stand on a grand stage like that. Afterwards, I increased my practice hours and thought about a lot more things.
You will face a Terran in the finals if you can get through Soulkey.
Personally, I would like it if ForGG made it through. I feel like I underestimated him when I played against him yesterday. I was able to realize just how good he was after playing game one against him. I am confident that I can put on a fun performance if we get to meet up again in the finals.
Anything else you would like to say?
I was luckily able to win my mirror match today. I will defeat Soulkey hyung tomorrow and aim for the championship. I know that a lot of people are saying this tournament format is rather difficult, but since I’ve been given this opportunity, I will not let it go to waste and work hard to do my absolute best.

Tell us how you feel about advancing to the semi-finals.
I chose to play in WCS EU so I didn’t have opportunities to play any games in Korea. So I was really nervous for my Ro16 matches yesterday. It’s been a while since I’ve been this nervous but I am still glad that I was able to establish results like this.
ForGG had made quite a statement during his Ro16 matches.
I felt a certain kind of pressure after seeing ForGG’s performances yesterday. He is a player with a lot of history and he doesn’t get nervous as easily so I ended up giving him game one. But after I lost game one I was able to wake up instantly. Thanks to that, I was able to win afterwards.
What kind of score were you expecting for today?
I had a feeling that I was going to lose. Mainly because I tend get nervous a lot. Not to mention this is especially true for YongSan booths (laughs). I was even more worried about today because I had to play in the LoL booth yesterday. I am so relieved that I was able to pull off the victory.
For game two, you decided to go for marauder related pressure after going for a proxy rax. Was this because you lost game one?
It was an improvised strategy. I’ve won a lot of times before even after my marauder pressure ended up failing. There have been a lot of situations where starting off at a disadvantage benefitted me so I went for marauders.
You showed a lot of various strategies because you also went for banshees. Were you trying to make a declaration of war as you prepared for the semi-finals and the finals?
I wasn’t making any kind of declaration or anything like that. I just wanted to show everyone the best performance that I could possibly put on today. I have to play yet another TvT for the semi-finals so I’m going to have to plan ahead wisely.
How did you prepare for today’s match?
I decided that I would improvise as the games progressed rather than try to formulate strategies beforehand. I lost game one though because I couldn’t do anything against ForGG’s attack. I pushed him back with my attack for game two. I think it worked out well. I had to play early again for today so I just went to bed without even practicing yesterday. Even when I got the studio, all I did was warm up my hands. After I lost game one, I started thinking of a lot of things.
You showed some daring moves like going for proxy build orders.
I haven’t played in Korea in a while so I was able to revitalize the feeling for the game since yesterday. It’s been such a long time since I performed in YongSan. It’s my first time since the 2012 Auction All Kill OSL. I wasn’t able to show a proper form back then but I think things went well for today. So that’s why I was able to show many cheerful things today.
You will face either INnoVation or aLive.
Both player are really good and difficult to play against. But it feels like aLive is rather underrated and his confidence is low right now so I hope he does well. But I think INnoVation is going to make it through (laughs).
If you do get to advance to the finals?
Honestly, I think I’m really strong when it comes to playing in the finals. I think I’m going to be able to put on an even better performance than ever before. The semi-finals will be another TvT and the finals could either be a TvZ or a TvP. I need a lot of practicing beforehand but the duration of this tournament is very short so it’s a really difficult tournament for me.
With your semi-final placement, your momentum just keeps rising. We could even say that it’s the return of the king.
Up till this point, I hadn’t met a representative from Korea once (not true, KangHo is KR). So I don’t think I can say that the king has returned yet. I have to defeat Korean players and bring back my old form first. Right now, I’m still lacking.
Anything else you would like to say?
The WCS is a tournament where players can choose to represent a certain region. I think I’m receiving strength from my European fans because I came as a EU representative. I am very grateful. I was also able to spend a pleasant time in Europe because of European Blizzard representatives. They even paid for travel fare in Korea and treated me to a nice meal. I want to take this moment to really thank them for that and let everyone know that I will show a great form and advance to the grand finals.
Lastly, I’ve been receiving a lot of criticism right now, but even with all that I still have people cheering me on so I am grateful to those fans.

You took a 3-0 victory and advanced to the semi-finals. How do you feel?
This was my first TvT is a while. I was nervous but I thinks things went better than expected so I am relieved.
A lot of people were saying that you were going to win. But did you expect this kind of one-sided result?
I was so busy preparing for TvZs that I was lacking preparation for TvTs, but I knew that I was plenty capable of taking the victory as long as my skills properly came out.
Through your televised interview you stated that you put your skills at 60% currently.
I have all these kinds of plays I want to implement but my hands still won’t allow them to occur. I also lack mentality control. You can clearly see that I am lacking from my televised games.
You will face Mvp for the semi-finals.
He is an excellent player. I think it will be a difficult match if I try to take him to the macro game. I really don’t have much to say since it’s a TvT so I won’t know anything for sure until I actually play.
You used mostly hellbats. Why was this so?
There is this notion these days that hellbats are really good in TvT. Then I saw how effective they really were after trying them out for myself, so I use them often now.
You scouted the medivacs coming with your lifted barracks. Was that intentional?
I had no use for my barracks. I just sent it wherever without really thinking about it.
You didn’t really use a special strategy or anything like that. Are you saving them for tomorrow?
I didn’t really have any specific strategies that I had prepared beforehand so I just decided to play based on the map I was playing on and the situation I was put into. I can’t help but feel like this will also happen for tomorrow.
How do you plan on preparing for tomorrow’s match?
It’s happening right away tomorrow so I think my style will be similar to today’s.
Any specific player that is going to hinder you from grabbing the championship?
If I get to the finals, I think it’s going to be a difficult match. But I don’t think anyone is really unbeatable. I think it’s perfectly fine for me to say that I’ll be aiming for the championship. I feel like Soulkey hyung is going to win and then we’ll meet each other in the finals again. But I don’t know for sure since sOs is also just as powerful of an opponent.
Anything else you would like to say?
Tomorrow will be both the semi-finals and the finals. I really hope a ton of fans will come once again, show lots of love, and stay for the final day of the season finale.
