GOGO PiG! hopefully he can turn some heads! :D Geoff's marketing works again. It's around the same Koreans like any other DH tournament and swamped with our Euro boys. Not only that but guys like Polt won't be going and the rest of the Koreans are pretty mediocre in caliber. I think a lot of the European players are bigger threats than most of these guys and guess what? This is the norm when it comes to Dreamhack tournaments. It's the usual suspects. I think you are wrong, there are a ton of very good koreans. Ok most of them are underperforming at the moment which doesn't change the fact that they still can pretty much outplay almost any foreign player. Plus there are a lot of those players that have been absent from the scene ever since HOTS release because of one/two series lost, so in two months they might be way better than they appear to be (DRG, Supernova, Sting ...) But then again, you're saying that Violet, Squirtle or Symbol are mediocre ... There are 15 Koreans. That number is not unusual for a DH. Almost all of them are on Western teams with a handful from ESF teams. You said it yourself a lot of them are underperforming. Jaedong did just beat PartinG in PL on the biggest map of them all, but I can still write him off because he's still very weak against Euro-style Protoss and there are several very good European Protoss players in this tournament. I already went down the list of all the players. As for DRG, Supernova and Sting. DRG is still slumping. Supernova I cannot comment on because I haven't seen him recently. I'd like to put him in the same breath as GuMiho but even his play as been lackluster. Symbol might be Korea's best shot. As for the rest, nah.
DRG is still slumping, but you haven't seen him play in a very long time. He did just lose to Seed in the qualifier for HSC but Seed won the whole thing, so that doesn't look that bad. You can't deny that Squirtle is pretty good, he has had very good results in GSTL, he did not have the best showing in GSL but he was up against ok players and it was the very beginning of HOTS. And Violet did look good so far even if we couldn't watch a RO16 showing.
Symbol is definitely the Korean favorite by watching only GSL results but you have to keep in mind that only one season was played on HOTS, every player improved a lot since their first showing and you can't judge a player on 4 already obsolete games (in case of a loss in RO32). I really feel there is a possibility for strong showing from Supernova, DRG, TheSTC, Gumiho, Hyun or Taeja. Every single one of those players has had good results in code S and was showing great play during a long amount of time, we simply don't have enough informations to just assume they are going to do bad with 10-15 tournament games seen on HOTS. Even Sting, Center or Lucky have already shown great skills and I'm pretty sure they could beat a lot of good EU players.
I'm not sure I understand why you are this confident regarding EU chances. I mean, aside from Lucifron, Stephano and Snute, I don't see any player that I would confidently predict to do well in this tournament. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

hey let's speculate on xenocider's new team
he must be on a team since I don't see a 15 year old american randomly going to sweden otherwise
considering he's a young american prospect, I'm going coL or EG here... -_-?

Really? Well I went back and looked up to see if I was mistaken.. I wasn't. Same tourney 1 year ago: 6 koreans that I can count (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=344786)
Checked the other tourneys? Similar numbers. Over 15 koreans going to a DH summer is actually unparalleled.
Normally I don't spend time making sure someone is wrong but you took care to be a douche about it and make a snide comment about my "marketing" as if that was what I was doing when I said it was nice having more koreans here.
GOOD DAY SIR

I WANT to believe that story but the "found a team" story seems more likely
though if he gives an interview that says he flew to DH on his own money after mowing lawns and doing and yardwork for a year, I'll love him even more than I already do for his WCS AM interview

Plus gotta go for dem WCS points right? I actually think this will start to be a problem for Kespa players. If they aren't going to very many foreign tournaments won't they fall behind their fellow Koreand and maybe some foreigners even if they do well in WCS seasons? The extra points from these tier tournaments might possibly make up the difference.

I'm focused on what they're doing now and not just the GSL or WCS b.s. Squirtle's an easy one to write off because he falls into the YellOw category (as much as I love YellOw yeah, only difference is YellOw is the king of special events-- good job on Reach bucko). I'm only talking about legitimate threats and even then if Symbol meets a decent zvz artist like JD. It's game over for him. So the reality is I don't see a clear favorite in this tournament. It's open season baby!

Yup, yup. No point having your marquee player sitting out of this one. It's not like EG-TL will be winning this PL season anyway. As for the other KeSPA teams. A lot of them are still in the hunt so they could use all hands on deck and they don't really have any sort of deal with DH in place anyway. I'm sure we're going to see more adjustments next year when it comes to Blizzard doing their thing so let's wait and see how it plays out.

Q: So how do you feel about winning? A: Well when you've mowed as many lawns as I have to get here, you can't not win

a lot of people here saying why no grubby/HerO/Vortix?
What about Leenock people? he's not listed either. Where's the love for Leenoctopus??? <3

I was disappointed by not seeing him on the list, but I didn't expect a lot of eSF or KeSPA players regardless because it is DH. Koreans usually skip out on the European tournaments the most.

I'm surprised that ROOT isn't sending Sage or Yugioh, I guess they rather save the $6K/12K for their team house. Makes sense I suppose.
Is Demuslim not attending due to his visa constraints?

Can't argue with that lineup, holy cow.

I really want Gumiho to win something sometime. That's my wish.
Failing that, Polt or DRG please~

yeah i realized that. its just that gumiho and lucky are there from that same eSF team =P. and since leenock is the reigning DH winner i figured id give him a shoutout

Hope to see at least one Dong win this one
