Incontrol did mention on SOTG that they were going to offer him some kind of severance agreement to try to help ease his transition into whatever he does next, so I'd interpret that to mean that Alex and company do care.

That is a great point, IdrA and EG were synonymous in a very powerful way and without IdrA EG isn't really the same. To those of you using this line of thought to justify them keeping him on the team, have you considered that they might not actually want his unprofessionalism to be the first thing you associate their organisation with?

EG has lost its identity.

Honestly, i would understand that people get offended by Greg's statements if the community was made of 13yo emotional girls, but it isn't.
Idra brings so much attention to himself just by being who he is, and that's why i belive EG shot themselves in the dick.
Maybe if he joins a team that actually tries to make him a better player and not a better person, he can get into shape and begin to show good games. Yea fuck EG for encouraging him to see a counselor. Shame on them for trying to lift his spirits. He obviously just needs to dive even further into the game that stresses him out. That will fix it. Community is so shameless, not wanting a healthy Greg but a Korean Greg.
He was removed for saying something that reflects badly on a corporate entity. People aren't crying over words. People are tired of this guy who turns 4 matches in a tournament into mostly shit regularly, who then has the balls to brag about how he gets paid to do whatever he wants later on. It's called not tolerating things that are asinine. You don't need to be a 13 year old girl to have that quality.

They made a lot of expensive hires and needed to "cut the fat" as the expression goes. Respect to Idra as one of the only foreigners who grinded it out in Korea for love of the game. Something somebody like Stephano would never dream of doing and hence he will never get past round of 32 in the GSL.

He couldn't have gotten away with that shit forever, it seems.

I have always cheered against Idra from Brood War days, but I also wanted him to be a top competitor because he is such a brilliant player. In short, don't care about anything else I want to seem him rise back to the top. So please keep at it Idra you still have support!

I hope IdrA streams some Broodwar or plays in TLS. Whether it's during his retirement or free agency.
|
To be honest, from the amount of hate that this guy gets, it's not surprising to see him posting BM comments to the community, just check the stream chat and TL threads when he plays. People almost tuned in just to make hate messages about him and calls him crap. GL idra and have a good future.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree that they definitely lost some of their "personality" with this move (not that this is a bad thing necessarily).

Do you really think that among many of Stephano's achievements, that none of them more than equate to 'past round of 32' in the GSL? Not to mention, IdrA's entry was so early into the game's inception.

This is hardly the end for him in Esports unless he wants to retire. Have never cared for his attitude but you gotta give him credit for igniting interest like no one else. He's certainly a legend.

good move by EG imho. in the past few months, idra has become more and more toxic, negative and was pushing the border further and further. at some point in time, he had to be stopped and imho the time has come now. also keep in mind that this move frees a lot of attention that always centered on idra to now be focused on other EG players who are more worthy of it, say demuslim and suppy. i can also imagine EG's atmosphere improving now that the cancer has been cut out.
with regards to idra's future: i think he will retire from actively playing sc2 and try to become someone involved within the esports industry, but behind the scenes. say a caster or a commentator with his own webshow or something like that. his casting was actually always received quite well. with the pressure of an active career gone, i can easily imagine his anger issues disappearing.

There's a big difference here I feel important to comment on. You can't allow your anger to constantly affect your performance either in a game of starcraft or a NASCAR race.
Players get mad after games/races or any competitions all the time. You won't see Kurt Busch parking his car halfway through a race because a couple guys pass him. He'll carry on and try his best because he has fans watching and rooting for him, sponsors to please and an obligation to try his best since he works in an entertainment industry. IdrA on the other hand gets upset in games to a point where he disregards any form of professionalism and quite frankly allows his anger to impede on his performance which is going to get you nowhere fast in any industry, entertainment or not. I'm requoting this because it's an excellent point/rebuttal On May 10 2013 11:57 Sokrates wrote:
And now here we have the hypocrisy, people don not only care about results otherwise there would be little money in the foreign scence at all. People care about storylines but then say "he doesnt have to results to back up his behaviour". Same is true for you, you say you only care about results and barely for the NA scene at all, but everytime a "mediocre" player fucks up you are there to grab your pitchfork. Why would you even care at all? Because you are the same dramaqueen that i am yet you are in denial. - I didn't say people do only care about results, only that they should heavily be taken into account before mythologizing mediocre players. it's not a contradiction of my viewpoint at all to say that I don't get the interest in the NA scene, exactly because of that lack of results. - have you considered that I enjoy these sorts of threads because I enjoy speaking truth to dumb? please consider how you factor in both of the threads that applies to. I also enjoy helping a good and angry mob throw torches at assholes, which, again, idra and destiny sitting in a tree. edit: dude, there's a lot more I could go into here, but do you not see any difference between being interested in the narrative of an angry, childish man's success and the narrative of his fall? it's a victory for everyone but idra and his fanbase, which is by far the minority in 2013. That is basically what i said? Thanks for proven my point by admitting it yourself. That is what is wrong with this community, people like you enjoy it way to much being a part of an angry mob and throw torches. Basically you arent any better than the persons you throw torches at, acutally you are even worse because you only feel strong when there is a big mob throwing torches at a single person when you are anonymous and dont have to face consequenzes itself. Out for the drama to grab pitchforks. So what exactly is wrong with my post here when you legitimate it by your own words. Hilarous. Prime example for the community being toxic.
the fact that it's all ad hominem generalization, at least for this one...
it's not being a drama queen to participate in a hotly debated topic of discussion. it is being a drama queen to only watch a player for their chances at generating drama, which I occasionally have done and I'm not going to just condemn it out of hand all the time. the problem is when no sufficient arguments exist to support a player other than as a drama factory or just to offer irrational, fanboy support; I really don't care about either of these, but when you make godawful ad hominem arguments and arguments based solely on anecdotal opinion for the sole purpose of defending people who don't even care about you...I don't suppose I'll ever understand.
so to sum this up, you keep trying and failing to contextualize your opinion in this greater avenue of discourse, something about the PC police and our apparent obligation to let toxic people thrive, and you keep ignoring every point I try to bring up about the ebb and flow of being a celebrity with opinions in society to try to dig at me. I'm done responding to you for now, because your method of debate is obnoxious.

Idra might want to take tips from Draco on transitioning into other jobs. Making carriers is a very useful talent to have in this economy.

Nah they were known for counter strike way before, and prolly will end up being known for LoL. EG=esports organization, they support lots of games. EG doesn't equal idra. IdrA was this top of the line foreign player, but lets face it he wasn't happy playing, why would u have someone who was hurting the team?
