I think a lot of Idra's popularity has been because his fans have seen glimpses of amazing potential and have been hoping he'll achieve better success in the future. That's certainly why I have on occasion gone out of my way to watch his games (despite not really being an Idra "fan.")

He was a legit macro beast back in the day, which in my eyes made up for his BM/complaining.

Honestly look at how quick it developed and note the little to no communication between the rest of EG. Alex and Idra likely had a conversation discussing the incident. Trying to figure out punishment, Idra probably just tilted asking to just be removed. He will always be relevant. I think most would be supportive of him if he decided to just continue streaming a bit and start school.

it'd be sad to see him go, but he really blew it this time; I would be utterly shocked and amazed if there was any growth from this.

Noonnonooo egGreg is no more.

Great news. Good decision EG!

oh damn... GL in the future IdrA. Still fan of you and EG

Yes its not professional what he said, but like its been said Idra and team EG were almost one and the same for me. I feel they are seriously losing a BIG part of what made them so popular in the first place.
People need to grow up. So idra left when the game was even, who cares. Free win for the other guy. It creates buzz about him and in turn EG. SO he called us all a piece of shit. Meh. I have the mentality of "Oh that Idra!" and laugh it off. I would take Idra over any Korean that has literally no personality or emotion (not counting MC).
Way too far to remove him from the team. Its going to come back to bite EG, Idra WAS TEAM EG. Now what is EG? I know inControl is on EG, but thats really it. I have no idea who else is on and dont really care honestly. Incontrol and Idra were interesting, now its whatever... Sad foolish decision...

If you're terminating an employee, particularly for cause, it matters a lot to move as quickly as one reasonably can and make sure that as few people as possible hear about it before the employee.
The reason is that you don't want the person who's being asked to leave to feel like everyone else knew before them. It's humiliating and disrespectful if that happens.

Shocking news. I feel like they botched the announcement, between the statement and Incontrol finding out on air. It's hard to believe that was the reason given how often this has occurred in he past. Idra's behavior has never been acceptable but for years EG has tolerated it. I would have expected this to be because Idra wasn't enjoying the game or something similar.
It's sad to see so much hateful gloating aimed at a player i like to watch and listen to. I used to think the shit in twitch chats was just a vocal minority.

i think the Game1 no GG vs Polt in WCS AM trigger the move. LOL

I feel sad about how teams seem to be more preoccupied on "educating" players than raising their skills.
Honestly, i would understand that people get offended by Greg's statements if the community was made of 13yo emotional girls, but it isn't.
Idra brings so much attention to himself just by being who he is, and that's why i belive EG shot themselves in the dick.
Maybe if he joins a team that actually tries to make him a better player and not a better person, he can get into shape and begin to show good games.

the player you liked to watch and listen to has himself been nothing but hate and gloating for a solid year and a half now.

Jaedong? Suppy? DeMuslim? Stephano? Huk? EG is a team that covers a tremendous range from great players to great personalities and people who are some of both. In a lot of ways Idra's been a huge asset to EG, but they'll do fine going forward.

That is a great point, IdrA and EG were synonymous in a very powerful way and without IdrA EG isn't really the same.
EG still has a good lineup with a lot of high profile players but none of them personify the team so much. I don't think of stephano as EGStephano, I just think of him as Stephano. I don't think of Jaedong as EGJaedong, I just think of him as Jaedong... etc
I can't think of IdrA without him being EGIdrA, I know a lot of people are in the same boat with me and I think that releasing him is a mistake because not only is he a valuable player to have on a team but also there is such a strong association between the team and the player in people's minds that they do an unbelievably good job promoting each other.
