While I can understand to some extent this decision, I can also say that EG would not be what it is without IdrA. A suspension would have been much more reasonable in this case. Love him or hate him, he brought personality to a game that is so damn conventional and pretty bland upon watching. Talking trash is part of what makes things fun and brings more depth to the game. You see this all the time in professional sports. Without the individual personalities of the players it's popularity would be severely diminished. Having all sorts of kind of people in one activity who are all expected to adhere to strict guidelines claiming "professionalism" is just another way of discouraging enjoyment from a wide audience and player base.

I think it was not only a poor decision to release IdrA, but also an unwise business proposition. People need to be reminded that there are actual players behind the monitor.

There has to be something else going on that we don't know about. For EG to release him like that makes no sense. we may never find out the true reasons. You could see a breeding of negativity with him over the past couple of years which can be pretty destructive. I don't agree with what he said %100 but I can understand where it comes from. A lot of people in the "community" go on witch hunts, and go overboard on a lot of things. There is a lot of immaturity in the community because the majority of players and target audience are so young. It doesn't help that Idras personality or persona or whatever you want to call it is so polarizing. Every body has an opinion on him. While i do not believe he handled a lot of situations in the best way I can only imagine what kind of things he was constantly dealing with. What kinds of emails/tweets/forum posts was he dealing with on a constant basis. He wasn't handling a lot of it correctly but I can see where his view of the community might be skewed in a negative way.
I wish both EG and Idra the best. I'll still follow EG and hopefully idra. If he wants the opportunity another team will pick him up.

They probably had a contract and it is cancelled by his release which means he gets some sort of compensation for them breaking the contract. Obviously I'm speculating but I believe that is how it works.

That is what is wrong with this community, people like you enjoy it way to much being a part of an angry mob and throw torches. As a fellow Michigander, I've always tried very hard to support Idra. I even turn my head when he trash talks the people that make his way of life possible. I can't say I disagree at all with this decision though I hope that this is merely a setback for him. I hope he gets his act together; perhaps one day he will rejoin EG.

In the meantime, good going. A difficult move, to be sure, but one can't allow one's business to be held hostage by one rogue personality.

Well Greg I did watch your stream quite a few times, because you are a Zerg, and I'm a Zerg.

However it was painful to see how badly you treat people, in games, stream chat and on TL. Your whole attitude exudes your dislike for people. As much as I enjoy SC as my past-time, ultimately there is nothing more important in this life than how you treat other people. Hopefully you will grow up someday and realize this.

As for EG, they will survive and thrive. They have other great and popular players like Stephano, JD, DeMu and others. Alex seems to be a savvy CEO. I think this was the straw that broke the camels back (so to say) and it was the right decision.

Thats my 2 cents.

IdrA is possibly the best example of how short-term and judgmental our community can be at the same time. I don't know what this release will mean for his career, but let us not forget how he made us feel back when he was a top player. I know he won't read this comment, but GL in your future endeavors grack.

And yes, EG did try to help IdrA, for a long time now, but it obviously hadn't been working.

If you don't like this game and you can't fucking watch it without your precious "storylines" and ridiculous, over-the-top esports drama then maybe you should leave. About damn time they stop paying this guy all that money to do nothing, all these years he sat there cashing his checks based only on his popularity. For some reason I guess people find players who act like a-holes FUN, "oh Idra you left the game again after losing a drone you so funny" T_T. It isn't funny it's a really poor performance and it shows he has NO class or sportsmanship at all, main reason why I never liked the guy. I was glad to see that for the last while when I bothered coming here I would see Demuslim's stream having 9-10k viewers and Idra having so few compared to that, player with no class and no intent of actually improving because he's always whining about balance deserve no views while people like Demuslim are actively trying to improve and show good sportsmanship actually does.

Good job EG, you have plenty of money and you'll survive getting rid of this guy. Nothing of value was lost after all.
