If you don't like this game and you can't fucking watch it without your precious "storylines" and ridiculous, over-the-top esports drama then maybe you should leave. You know, so the people who are actually passionate about SC2 can discuss it without you mouth-breathing morons creaming yourselves over the most recent twitter controversy caused by some irrelevant, washed up foreigner who never actually accomplished anything of note.

unfortunatly storylines drive the business. In any pro sport I can name more than a handful of personalities that are similar to idra. Without people driving the community drama machine the overall product suffers. You can't grow sc2 as an e-sport if you don't have them. Sc2 would be very boring if everything was so sterile. It was always fun to watch a match with idra and wonder what could happen. It doesn't mean I crave negative drama. But i do enjoy when things are unpredictable. Just because you enjoy a veriety of personalities doesn't mean you aren't passionate about the game. Dyscreet wasn't saying he only watched because of idra and negativity.

This guy is smart. The quoted person needs to look at the big picture instead of spewing off crap.

I might actually be able to root for EGTL in proleague now. Cool.

Random thought, I wonder what this thread would look like if idra had moletrap's voice.

Great news. Good decision EG!

Yea he moved in with his girlfriend maybe 2 weeks ago. Great news...

I'm sorry... But why should EG care what he does in his private life?

Does your boss care if u are broke or have a kid on a way or some shit? lol

You're acting like its a bad thing for a boss to care about that lmfao.. dumb guy

People do care about other people WHOAA SHOCKING

Incontrol did mention on SOTG that they were going to offer him some kind of severance agreement to try to help ease his transition into whatever he does next, so I'd interpret that to mean that Alex and company do care.

They probably had a contract and it is cancelled by his release which means he gets some sort of compensation for them breaking the contract. Obviously I'm speculating but I believe that is how it works.

That could be the case, or they could be offering it to him as an additional thing. Without seeing the contract, we don't know.

Yes its not professional what he said, but like its been said Idra and team EG were almost one and the same for me. I feel they are seriously losing a BIG part of what made them so popular in the first place.

People need to grow up. So idra left when the game was even, who cares. Free win for the other guy. It creates buzz about him and in turn EG. SO he called us all a piece of shit. Meh. I have the mentality of "Oh that Idra!" and laugh it off. I would take Idra over any Korean that has literally no personality or emotion (not counting MC).

Way too far to remove him from the team. Its going to come back to bite EG, Idra WAS TEAM EG. Now what is EG? I know inControl is on EG, but thats really it. I have no idea who else is on and dont really care honestly. Incontrol and Idra were interesting, now its whatever... Sad foolish decision...

That is a great point, IdrA and EG were synonymous in a very powerful way and without IdrA EG isn't really the same.

EG still has a good lineup with a lot of high profile players but none of them personify the team so much. I don't think of stephano as EGStephano, I just think of him as Stephano. I don't think of Jaedong as EGJaedong, I just think of him as Jaedong... etc

I can't think of IdrA without him being EGIdrA, I know a lot of people are in the same boat with me and I think that releasing him is a mistake because not only is he a valuable player to have on a team but also there is such a strong association between the team and the player in people's minds that they do an unbelievably good job promoting each other.

I was getting this vibe as well, seems like they were looking for an excuse to get rid of him.

lol excuse? stephano's joke about pedo was just that. a joke between friends that got leaked thru a stream. im not mad at idra, but hes been spewing more negative shit plus he implied EG was paying him to be a dick to everyone. I'm pretty sure i know which one of those guys i would want to fire.

he hasn't had results for ages, and if we look at results, we can name a few more teammates who havent gotten the results he has had in the past. For a while there, i thought his attitude was getting better, but it just took a nosedive this past year or so and went back to what he had before when he began sc2.

Just IdrA being IdrA.

He has been continually calling his fans things like "fucking retarded" for a long time now, as well as being a debbie downer about how awful his life is because he plays SC2 for a living.

As far as I know, Stephano never left a game he still could have won. And never insulted his viewers. And don't ragequit.
And I think the idra release is a whole package, with the same comments and him 4-0'd his group, with the same results but no BM, he'd still be there (hi machine ).
When Parting BM life, it's ok because it's one of the best protoss in the world, and it creates storyline. When Idra trashtalk random Na players, that's just him not accepting that he doesn't really understand what "playing a competitive game" really means.

Btw did someone brought up the old rekul post about idra in this thread ?

I mean seriously. There comes a point where a player no matter how good he/she is has to answer to stuff like that. IdrA got away with so much in the beginning of SC2 because he was one of the best foreigners.

Has he actually said in the past that he will get paid to treat people like you or me shit and he loves it?

Also Stephano is like what.. 18? And age of consent hovers around 14 across Europe. Doesn't make sense to paint Stephano's actions with such a dark light through Merican' lenses then claim Idra's actions were fine since he has shown consistency.

such dark light? i could of used many many worse words or terms than " jokes about pedophilia" if i wanted to paint stephanos actions darkly as you say. im just saying in the last 3 months weve seen thorzain/stephano in korea, weve seen demuslim get his name added to the list of proleague participants. maybe idra is not on any of them 3's level but to not hear idras name along with other " foreigners" with the chance of going to korea recently just also shows in my opinion there really wasnt a longterm vision for idra with EG anymore hence he continues his normal idrage and they happily boot him the day AFTER he fails to qualify for WCS NA

He personally expressed absolutely no interest in returning to Korea.

I don't see how this is different from any pro-athlete being cut from the team for bad behavior. It hurts the image of the brand when the company as a whole is going in a different direction and he doesn't follow suit. He's gotten warnings before, this one happened to have crossed the line that most people with common sense would understand.

Best of luck to Greg, I get a feeling he's going to be a lot more successful doing something else. Go become an investment banker, become a fund manager, buy esports as a whole, then tell everyone to go eff themselves. Let's see who can fire you then.

Sry but i just used your OWN words, i didnt make any assumtions. You said it yourself, god damn it.
You said you enjoy an angry mob throwing torches at people you dont like. How the fuck does it not prove my point i said over 1 year ago and am still saying now. There is also a difference between "not supporting" somebody and actively bringing them down. If you dont support anyone because you dont like them, feel free to not open their stream or anything related to them, instead of grabbing your pitchforks because you enjoy drama so much. I m not defending a particular player i m against the witchhunting of the community itself as i said a million times. I would even defend players i dislike a lot if this occurs. And i dont give a fuck if a player cares about me as long as i m entertained. And i dont give a fuck about people not supporting players they dont like, but i give a fuck when people like you are just sharpening their pitchforks and hoping that the next witchhunt is happening soon.

you keep looking for that gotcha! and it just isn't happening because you keep adding on these ridiculous generalizations that you think follow from my statements.

- it doesn't prove your point because you don't have one other than that you think you've caught me being hypocritical, but it's not about not enjoying drama, it's about not supporting people who do nothing for the scene anymore except generate controversy. it's the exact same event horizon as destiny and it's the exact same reaction: shrug, should probably be gone, good luck in the future even though you aren't a very good human being, cy@.

- how does an anonymous criticism bring idra down? he's said he doesn't give a shit about us lessers looking upon him.

- EG and the greater community has voted idra off the island, but honestly he's probably not going anywhere for a while longer. you keep saying "witchhunt" as if you either don't understand the context of what a witch hunt actually is or you just flatly don't care about what certain players do, and it makes you fucking impossible to take seriously.

- you don't know what I'm hoping, unless you were to say that you're done wasting my time.

I already got that "gotcha" moment.

And no, you dont just shrug your shoulders because that is not what you said here and not what you said in the destiny/stephano thread. Because if you just shrug your shoulders and critize players than i m ok with it. But you are fine with people emailing sponsors to get rid of them, that is a whole different level. Idra did a lot for the scene, a lot more than you and i will ever do. And why would you care about controversy at all? As you said yourself you are just here to throw torches and enjoy the downfull of a "childish" man, wow now that helps the community a lot. We need more witchhunters and torch throwers, that is what makes the scene grow and stay healthy. What do you do besides creating controversy? Following that logic you should get rid of yourself from the scene.

He brought the villain personality. You pretty much read it from your post. You either hated him or loved him. it's not uncommon in other pro sports.

He could just keep streaming and make money that way. He gets like 8000 viewercs, pretty sure he can make plenty of money just doing that.

I have to agree with this decision. A product that shits on it's user is not worth investing in. I wrote a little blurb about this on my website if anyone wants to check it out. It's a little more broad but helps explain who idra is to people outside of SC2/eSports

The villain? IdrA moved away from "the villain" a long time ago. If anything, PartinG is the villain, the guy who still trash-talks everybody he plays, but is at that level where he can because he entertains with great games and results. IdrA doesn't.

I agree with their reasons for releasing him...In fact I voiced this same feeling on his fan forum about 2 weeks ago and got temp. banned for it! But I do hope he finds his love of the game, or finds some joy in something else, if you are constantly unhappy it usually means that you have some imbalance in your life. There is no reason for someone as intelligent and mechanically practiced as Idra not to get get better results AND be happy to be paid to play professional Starcraft. Hopefully he will re-prioritize and find his path.
