So many people (including I) called this...his popularity and streamer views has already skyrocketed lol. He's over 12.5k at the moment. Streaming a regular game...nothing special...some mainstream tournaments struggle with 10k...haha Go Idra. Keep the haters hating.

and I wonder who in EG has this number of viewers on his stream...

having said that... good decision EG. You couldn't pick a better time or player to do this.

for starters demuslim has over 8k every night, and has had that for ages now.

Secondly Idra wont maintain 12.5k, its spiked so much purely because of recent events.

ages?

Not for ages, but recently he has built a solid foundation of viewers based off 1: streaming every day for hours, and being generally informative and entertaining and 2: some drama with idra.

In HotS, it's safe to say DeMuslim has maintained a high fan base, generally ranging from 8-10k when he streams.

I knew some people will think this. However, another big group of people will think otherwise. Also... "stream cheating" is not cheating according to Blizzard rules, so CombatEX never broke the rules. Besides, I think streamers can delay their gameplay to avoid this. Correct me if I am wrong.

I heard he used map hacks as well as other things and he apologized for it later on. I consider any thing that gives a player an unfair advantage to be "cheating",... thought that was the definition of cheating but whatever. CombatEX is a dick, cheater and never can be placed in a rank as a 'Pro' player. IdrA can be a dick, never cheated and has won many tournaments and has a large reputation/following in the gaming community.

Again... how do people compare a wannabe pro with a WELL KNOWN Pro?

CombatEX has NEVER used maphacks, nor was he ever accused of it. That is a widely held misconception. The worst he's done in SC2 is streamcheat, which he has apologized for last year and has been clean ever since. There's no denying that he has made some very poor choices in his past, but people grow up and move on. You don't have to like him, but the fact remains that strong personalities like CombatEX, IdrA, iNcontrol, and Destiny (to name a few) attract viewers and help grow the scene, albeit in different ways. I find it particularly disappointing that CombatEX's career as well as a necessary aspect eSports are stunted due to the feelings of a few moderators on TL.

Yeah, CombatEX never broke the Blizzard rules. Besides, all that stream sniping was well worth it, and I would watch it again. Incholesterol raged so much it is one of my favorite Starcraft moments. This is for lols and entertainment afterall. You can't be serious all the time. We want some drama too.

I think I saw the first game where he declared that he was going to roach bust him at the start of the game and there was the "Did Demuslim gg" drama. Do you have a link to the second one?

Pretty sure that was the second game

LOL

Geoff's "stunned reaction" was great. Give the man an Oscar.
The "release" happens just as "State of the Game" is airing.

Here is what really happened.

Idra got knocked out in the RO32 and realized the competition in the "Challenger League" would be stiff.
He had been thinking of retiring from competitive gaming for at least a year.

So EG, looking for as much publicity as possible cooked up this entire "episode". Idra took a few final shots, knowing full well what would happen.

Then Idra gets to make his big "i quit" announcement with the whole world tuning in.

All we need now is Bret Hart submitting to s SHawn Michael's Sharpshooter in the centre of the ring in Montreal to complete this story.

Finally the guy is the biggest troll in the game. His atitude in game and towards other people was unacceptable. His unsportmanlike conduct was the worst. Leaving the game when you werent beat yet is a joke. I hate to sound rude and mean but it took evil genius long enouguh sheesh. Good luck in the future idra!

Honestly, I think it should really be up to the player to decide when to leave.

If you ever watch a chess tournament, players resign all the time in seemingly equal position when they know they are going to lose whatever happens. I remember Gregory Sherper resigning against Kramnik in a position where I couldn't even see a real threat.

In the game GO, the players agree when the game is over and score from there. The community that watches professional SC2 be able to accept players conceding if they feel they are to far behind. There are tons of reasons to want to move on to the next game in a set of 3 or 5.
