Not that Iam a huge IdrA fan but Iam a little confused because:

When Stephano was disrespectfull the reaction of EG was to ban him from some tournaments and stuff (good reaction not TOO MUCH) but when IdrA is disrespectful to community (lots of people just like him because of that because hes not THE BEST player overall but his RAGE THING is quite entertaining for lots of people) you kick him out of the team ?

Not sure if community likes this !

Well,youre short-minded.

Idra has been an ass to comunity more or less since he started getting into pro level in broodwar, and to players on ladder aswell.

Idra is one of the most intellectual zerg/player out there, and he's always been disrespectfull more or less.

Stephano on the other hand, ive never heard him BM anyone, ever. and he got banned for tournaments for drinking to much and making a fuzz i believe? its a minor thing, and his first mistake or what to call it, so banning him from EG forever would be stupid.

and i just wanna add. I like EG because of a few reasons, its a nice team, all of my favorite players are there,or was.

but thats what is.. a team filled with famous people..as soon as anyone get famous they go to EG.

also idra will continue with starcraft, theres a interview with him tomorrow on JP's stream.

Good luck man!

He tweeted he wouldn't leave esports. That doesn't neccesarily mean as a sc2 player. I wouldn't be surprised if he take the incontrol route and goes into more of a casting role, but we'll probably get our answers soon so not much point in speculating.

He's just being French, not being BM.
Stephano does a lot of things that Idra does too, but they are just about being confident and painfully honest - which currently suits Stephano better, because he's still at a very high competitive level. Idra, on the other hand, does additional things that Stephano never does - leaving games, smashing keyboards, direct cursing with not even a little sophistication about it. Currently Stephano fits the "evil genius" model much better, and Idra fits, sorry to say it, a less classy model.

But in the end I'm pretty sure it all comes down to current skill at the game. Idra can elevate his state of mind and the class of his BM by elevating his game. When he's truly confident, Idra can be no less sophisticated than Stephano at being "evil".

watch what incontrol says about it on his stream, the link is on reddit. The preface was Idra wishing Capoch to get cancer and die. The latter even is him calling his fans fucks and saying he even gets paid to do it.

We have tennis pros that insult their opponents. Football (soccer) stars that physically assault other players or doing the nazi salute.

.....aaaand are fined and not allowed to play in the national team as a consequence.

Yes. They collect penalties like other guys postcards. But most of these guys still continue doing their job while not changing their attitude.

None of them have done half that what Idra did tho.
I'd like to see what would happen to football player who'd say that his fans are fuckers and he's getting paid to say so. Or saying in public that he'd wish his opponent to get cancer. Or, when having to practice with a teammate, leave and say he's a motherfucker. I doubt they'd be no repercussion. Anyway it's not just one incident, it's the accumulation of quitting games and insulting people. He needed to either be good at the game or to behave semi correctly, but he couldn't do either, so when the moment of decision came there was nothing to salvage him.

I think it's the opposite, he was tolerated for so long because it's the ESPORTS scene and we (the public) are usually more cool with such things (well, except the call the sponsors police)

Also seeing how the Chinese community is reacting to this news. I would guess Idra is no longer marketable in China for EG. I know it's a small market compare to other parts of the world, but it's also the market everyone including Blizzard is trying to break into. I have not seen the reaction in Korea but my guess would be it's more or less the same. Idra is now a bad investment in a business point of view.

There is a way out for him though. His anger issue is so dominant that it's slowly taking over his ability to judge a situation properly. He should channel this powerful feeling into something that will help himself, he need to change his perspective from "you are all fuckers" to "you fucking haters watch, I will rise again and proof you are all wrong about me".

Idra will never swallow his pride and become a caster. Maybe he'll change the game, but I doubt it. I reckon he'll go independent like Grubby. I don't like him particularly but he has proven to have what it takes to be top level progamer. I know he doesn't have any results for the last two years, but at least from what I've seen on his stream, he wasn't even trying to analyze the game and improve. Maybe the reason was that he was getting enough money to just be mediocre and bash around. Maybe now, when he'll depend much more on his results, he'll step up and improve. I am not a fan of him, but I hope so.

Mostly negative as far as I can tell from the comment sections. In every site I visited so far the top comments are all hate toward him.

It's stupid of him to not leave e-sports. Really, really stupid. He does nothing but play to the lowest common denominator of the thirst for drama.

He's in the same boat as a drug dealer -- or for that matter a telemarketer or lying car salesman. Selling people a product that isn't good for them and which he can't defend as a positive contribution. The only difference is that in Idra's case, it's more of a time investment than about parting with money. But the same argument applies.

Yeah. Really stupid. Considering he doesn't have an education or another job, and he's raking in tons of money through esports by delivering these drugs that people crave. Such a stupid guy..

seriously. I've seen it all now. Comparing Idra to a drug dealer..

Top 5 comments on one of the main SC sites in China.

1. Releasing Idra has improved the average IQ on EG
2. Doesn't look like it's only his attitude, he probably have mental problem as well.
3. Idra is a joke, although his rage and BM is occasionally entertaining, his sacking gave me even more pleasure. He should've been fired long ago because of his (lack of)skill and mannerism.
4. Idra hasn't produce any results for a long time and he still dares to be so cocky. As a result, he has lost his job.
5. How can such an immature person being called a Pro? Player with his "skill level" is a dime a dozen.

It's funny but mostly right on ! But the thing i don't like the most in his whole thing is not Idra or his attitude , it s the fact that some opinion makers and SC personalities promote skill at the game less then that they call entertaining personalities ( trough very few are truly entertaining ) . I think skill should be supreme , after that having a attitude or whatnot should be a bonus.

This post actually make some sense in that I don't really know if IdrA is contributing anything valuable to the community at the moment, just drama, a negative and oftentimes unmerited view on the balance of the game, and cursing out potentially up- and coming players.

I do like his casting and his insightful opinions on many topics surrounding esports on for example ItG though. So I guess that's something. He is the badboy of SC2, but I think he has taken that role to another low that just makes it a negative. He doesn't seem to use his fame, relevance and spotlight for anything positive at all. I mean he has no respect for the spirit of competing, he has no respect for most players, he hates the game. I mean, allthough I don't want IdrA to leave Esports, it probably would be the best thing both for him and for the community.
Just when I thought I was out, Blizz pulled me back in..

I bet EG could sell quite a few T-shirts right now if they changed their famous "Release the Gracken!" line to "Released the Gracken!".
Would that be too soon/cruel?
