Everyone already knows that the persona he puts on is that of the 'badboy' so to speak, but he shouldn't have said that he gets paid specifically to be a dick. EG only paid him to play the game and tolerated his behavior as it did add to his draw with the ESports audience. He was responding to a very trollish/stupid post though. I read it like him mostly saying it to antagonize said and like-minded posters. Sure that doesn't make it much better from a pr standpoint but if players would get fired everything they say something equally stupid, a lot of players would be in danger. To me it just felt like it was the last straw for EG more than the post itself being so bad that he deserved to get kicked from the team.

EG is a strage team. It has some of the best foreginers, great Korean stars.... yet somehow they dont look too motivated. Hell... there are like... no EG-TL players taht actually play as of late in the GSTL. I mean... im sure they ratehr focus on foreigner events where they can actually win and get some prize money, but still...

If you ever watch the chat during WCS America like 90 percent of it is a bunch of Idra fans spamming about him even if he isn't playing, aka trolling. He built up quite an odd following.

No, he actually wasn't. As it turns out, EG was not paying him to be a dick, hence they removed him from the team. TL should really stop beating itself up so much, it's one of the better online gaming communities to be sure, and did not deserve that kind of douchebaggery. And he very likely was not sacked because of one errant comment, this has to be an accumulation of incidents, involving fans, teammates, and even blizzard employees. Straw, camel and all that jazz.

Idra would never change to a weaker race, he changed from T to Z cause it looked easier to him, and because we see foreigner struggling when playing T and winning against Koreans when playing P or Z, I assume he was right with his decision. "I chose Zerg because Artosis is an asshole." IdrA chose Z because he thought it would be the HARDEST race that rewarded mechanics the most, not the other way around. Still a bit shocked that this happened. A bit sudden. I am, like most, waiting to see what IdrA says/does.

Or did he act preemptively? Because it seems almost like this was all too convenient, as if he had already planned to release IdrA and this gave him a great excuse. I think it's more that they were sick of him pulling that shit again and again and again despite their probable intervention, and finally decided "fuck it, this is not how we want our professional organization to look."

There would be no EG-TL players in the GSTL because EG-TL is not in the GSTL, bit hard to show up in a competition you're not a part of.

Maybe he was. Garfield had him terminated not because he was wrong, but because he was right, and he didn't want people knowing about it. Because if IdrA was right, then that would mean he was making confidential company practice public. If you're paying someone to be a villain, you don't want people to know he's only acting, because that pretty much spoils the whole setup and reason why you are paying him in the first place.

In the same way that wrestling has those wrestlers that everyone loves to hate, starcraft has idra. To kick him because people hated him is stupid, he's an entertainer, just like geoff is. Yeah, I think the pro wrestling analogy is surprisingly apt, but this situation would be like if one of those bad guy wrestlers started telling the crowd that wrestling is fake and they're all a bunch of idiots for watching. The next time you saw that guy, you wouldn't know it because he'd be one of The Conquistadors. (Google it.)

Some people wonder why people smile at eSport, while supporting players like idra. If eSports wants to grow, you have to get rid of such inmature players, so that eSports can be taken more serious from the rest of the world. And if with Idras release will lose Fans to SC2, then its okay for me and a lot of other people i guess. Seriously, i dont want SC2 to be like "WWE" (wrestling) but more like Chess. And thats also for the Audience. Imagine your favourite Football (soccer) player would insult all his fans. I would kick his ass and wish him nothing good. Because its the Fans that make his life and job possible. I am 38 and do not need such childish and inmature behaviour of an Kid, when i want to see a good Starcraft 2 tournament.

Him being a dick = exposure for sponsors , people buying their stuff is probably one reasons why he stayed in EG for so long so in matter of fact that is true they were paying him for being this way while not straight up saying you are to bm/be dick , but essentially it's the same.

It's important to note that it is a bad kind of exposure. Just a tv reality show where people with no talent get paid alot and are being dicks to everyone. They never last long.

Hey is only 27th in prize money in SC2 : P Probably a bit overrated, you usually can only get within that range by losing tournaments etc etc /sarcasim He fell off in 2011 ![]() On May 11 2013 00:01 stratmatt wrote: oooooo noooooo.......eg just lost the fandom of a legion of angry middleshcool-aged boys with no jobs or money to spend on their sponsors productssssssss anywaysssss....what was eg thinking?!?!?1 Glad they removed Idra for bad mouthing the community, proceeds to stereotype and bad mouth a section of the community. You sir are one of the examples in the 'community' of the people we strive to eliminate at every corner, the hyperbolic hypocritical moron who smashes a player for doing one thing and then proceeds to do a similar thing himself. Do try to clean that up sir.
