Well color me surprised. not to take anything off of idra's work ethic cuz he seemed to do decent but I don't think he was THE hardest working foreign player... just had to look at Kas for that, always had easily over 2000 games every ladder season I was talking 2009-2010 here, not sure Kas was even active back then (could be wrong though). During his time on CJ and immediately before EG I'm pretty sure Idra was the hardest working western player. That is the player they signed at the time.
the beta came out in february 2010, not sure why you bring up 2009 o_o

Well, at least I know EG isn't worth following anymore. Used a player to get them noticed and then released him, real cool. Giving into the 9-12 year old crowd who troll him all the time. Pathetic.

Wow, sucks to see IdrA get released from EG. Never been a huge fan but he was a damn good player when he didn't let his mentality get to him. Hope he can bounce back and be better then before.

I'd say EG was way too lenient and should have done it earlier. Forgot about talented part. His success was mostly based on mechanics since the 14p 15h build he did was so predictable it was called Idra Build for a reason. Here come the goldfish...... Some people have memories longer than 1 year you know. Idra used to be one of the most hardworking people. I actually dislike idra's personality and think he balances whines too much for his race but what he stated there is absolutely true and ruined a large part of the western SC2 scene for me. People aren't paid to be good, they are paid to be entertainers because that's exactly what most of the community seeks. As sad as that is, that is how the Sc2 community is.
And that is just not true. People watch Stephano because he own almost everyone on ladder while not having that awful Korean music. People watch Grubby because he also owns everyone on ladder and it really nice to his viewers and fans. Only Idra and Destiny were watched for other reasons first, and they both encouraged that.

This is so weird. IdrA was my hero at the beginging of SC2 and now he lost his team. As time goes by I was disappointed by him and the other foreigner heros and turned to the korean scene but when he competed it was so special still. I am more casual visitor to his stream and I am no fan of EG but I have never taken anything he said seriously. Many comments I red on TL are so different which I don't understand. Why is such a stupid comment by IdrA taken seriously to the point that he gets released from his contract - maybe its only because I am not on redit... Or did I miss something?
It is always this with the SC2 community and the people that try to be dead serious about their "esport" or the political correctnes of a team. I don't know what happened inside EG but from my point of view the whole reaction especially by a lot of people on this thread is not understandable. A lot of people have a seem to have double standards. The game as a sport isn't there to behave like this atleast from my point of view. Even the most wellrespected casters and players tend to act in a way that would be toxic if this was a real "sport". So I have to ask myself what the reasoning behind the decision by the team and the community is to react like this. I thought IdrA had improved his behavior.
He is still the guy that brought me to SC 2 and the most prominent player on his teams roster. It is sad to see him leave. So maybe I have double standards too... it is sad.

As sad as it may be, it's about time. This behavior is incredibly toxic to the SC community. SC can't be taken seriously while players that behave like children remained signed as part of one of the biggest name teams around.
I enjoyed some of his games in BW (when CCs weren't getting the better of him), and think he made great impact to early WoL metagame. I really hope to see IdrA succeed again. But only as a new player and new personality. And definitely only after some serious soul-searching.

Before SC2, Idra moved over to Korea to live in the CJ Entus pro gamer house. Despite not getting much results, he stuck with it for quite awhile and was the only foreigner to do something like that (at least at that time, I know some others did before). That really took a lot of guts and dedication to the game. In the BW days it was 100% Korea and a foreigner living and training in a Korean progamer house was highly unusual.

this is really weird to me. there's no way i can believe they released him over that one fairly harmless, typical Idra statement that you can't even be sure he was serious about. i can think of plenty of reasons why did want to fire him though. so yeah, they probably just used something they felt was a good excuse to do it.
this is sad for me. it's weird cause they have so many well-known players, but my perception of EG is instantly very different without his presence. i can't help but think that he can find a decent team at the snap of a finger if he wants to. but part of me feels like this might actually be an opportunity for him more than anyone. go away from sc2 for a while, get a real job and try and get a new perspective on life. maybe even get a therapist.

I honestly didn't expect this. It's 100% justified as it's been for months now but I never thought EG would actually release him. As much as I'm gonna miss all the controversy, which is honestly not much, this is the right thing to do.

edit: I don't understand why people are acting like idra is a huge victim here; he's an adult. If he stopped working as hard, he chose to do that. It's not like they coerced him or forced him to be a dick.
