The SC2 community owes nothing to Idra, how delusional you have to be to actually believe that? It's 100% the other way around... A mediocre player that did well in BETA, proceeded to cash in for 3 fucking years riding the bandwagon of SC2. Which is driven by people who are really passionate about it. Also if you believe that SC2 is a shitty game then how can you watch a guy that openly HATES it play it over and over just for sponsor money? You are either successfully trolled an answer out of me or you need to get a better grasp of logic and reality. With that said, I really hope he can move forward and do something that he enjoys. Best of luck to him in the future. Pretty convenient to forget the tournaments he won after release, and his decent runs through GSL with Jinro. By all means, continue you're pointless hatred. And you should look up the word delusional. Pretty convenient to forget the popularity that he has brought to a game and community that hardly deserves it. Idra has been nothing but honest about everything hes ever said. You sit on your high horse and talk shit about him, but hes brought more attention negative or positive to sc2 then any other pro out there. He's still one of the best sc2 players in the world and he deserves your respect. It's pretty clear that Idra has anger issues that he has very little control over yet everyone judges him and eggs him on for a reaction. If any of you were harassed and bullied even half as much as Idra you would be just as toxic if not worse. It's so funny to watch all you bandwagon forum warriors pretend like you could deal with the stress Idra is under day in and day out. This community has been just as shitty and toxic towards idra and yet you act surprised when he acts out in a toxic manner. Jokes on EG anyway, Idra likely already has offers piling up by teams that are looking for thousands of new fans. I'll be one of them. Idra Fighting! I don't think he deserves my respect. As a player, he had every advantage given to him and he basically pissed it away screaming imba imba imba. He may have helped establish the scene when it was young, but putting credit solely on him is a disservice to anyone else involved. What about Day9? What about Jinro? HuK? Anyone of those guys could've carried it the way Idra did. The only difference is that they didn't have to BM everyone and call everything OP. His attitude was shit and he deserves everything coming at him. Karma's a bitch. That opinion boggles my mind. The people who think he built the scene, I mean, how long have these people been here? Do they remember the beta tournaments with NoNy an all that jazz? Saying that he built the scene is like saying Rome was built in a day, it's wrong and a banality at best. He did quite little other than bring attention to the scene with his BM. There was a period where he was quite dominant, but in that period people had little idea of what they were doing, and there were other foreigners and koreans better than idrA. The dude could be cool if his personality wasn't like it is. Some players are like NaNi and are incredibly competitive, but nice outside of the game, idrA was the same jerk inside and outside. Nothing was ever good enough, and if he ever lost it was due to some bs that he couldn't control. How can people say it was him that built this scene when that blatantly isn't true? I've been on TL and played sc2 since the beta. I used to play as a top masters zerg and have always admired Idra's skill and honesty. IMO he is the most important player in the scene as far as popularity and according to his TL fan page I'm right.
His fanpage is a cesspool and not something that should be admired. He appeals to the "imba" crowd. The people who blame the game instead of themselves as to why they're performing badly. There just happens to be a lot of people in that crowd. It draws them in. He does the same thing as them except he makes money. He's setting an example. A horrid one. One that needs to be washed away.

Sc2 viewers are extremely fickle, and having a character is basically the only way to be consistently relevant to the scene.
If being a character is the only way to stay relevant, than SC2 as a game becomes meaningless. He (or anyone else) can be a "character" in any game or any scene. This scene is built around a game. When that game becomes less and less important, the entire scene spirals into irrelevance.

sure short term he will probably regret this whole situation but the way EG has been heading the last few months lets be serious, unless idra went on a super heater he wouldnt of been on EG well before a year from now.

His first post was right on the money but he really should have realised that the second one would likely force some kind of non-trivial repercussion from EG. It's unfortunate but probably necessary as he essentially asked for it in the second post.

IdrA fighting! I think it takes a bigger man to apologize when you are in the wrong. All the best to both parties involved! Yeah. But, if you feel you are right and don't need to apologize. EG will do what what they have to do, but I support IdrA. He has always been my favorite player and one of the main reasons I got into the community and StarCraft 2. I am upset by this and I hope nothing but the best for IdrA in the future.

esports can x in y (i don't want to be banned, oh the irony!!), I'm a Starcraft 2 fan and I don't really care about having SC2 enter the mainstream if that means we lose everything we ever loved about it to begin with, too me SC2, BW, and every other game I've played competitively has always been about just having fun with friends and enjoying personalities like Idra, Naniwa, Destiny, and etc. without the reparations that come with offending the vast majority of reddit/etc. tbh the only model that could ever overlook witch hunters and what not would be a pure donation model from fans which isn't sustainable in a realistic situation
but my opinion is of the minority and sadly I don't think we can ever go back

It was about time. I doubt he will find a new team. No professionell organisation would want such a toxic asset.
|
I'm not sure what Idra will do next...I'm not sure if he can find another team. His mentality is as toxic (if not more toxic) than Naniwa at his worst, but Idra certainly doesn't have the results than Naniwa has...and I can't quite picture Idra as a lone wolf player. I used to be a fan, but his mentality seems to just have gotten so toxic (as opposed to, for example, last year and that NASL video where he was able to poke fun at himself, and he seemed to be doing solidly in tournaments). I just feel sad for him.

Yeh, ok, he said an exceptionally douchey thing in a long line of douchey behaviour
But, dont you people realise, that he wouldnt be where he was, if it wasnt giving him exposure.
"Esports" isn't going to mature into anything more than it is now. There is a mix of viewers/support , from the 8-14yr old (WTF noob crowd), to the older, watching to relax crowd.
Props to him for being smart enough to recognise this IMO
