This makes me have a lot of respect for EG. I fully support and agree with this decision.

Sorry that IdrA got fired. But I love IdrA! Because he speaks his mind and really mean it. It takes a man to do that. He never apologizes for what he says and to me that makes IdrA a really good person. Good luck in the future!

Wow. what a pussy answer. 2 paragraphs in there had nothing to do with Idra. Why not say straight up 'We dont like him anymore more and letting him go, because were scared of what people might think". O wait hes been doing the same things for 10 years and Starcraft 2 wouldn't be as big as it is without Greg.

You sure thats true? He wasnt in a major tournament since 2011 and even then he was once every few( a lot ) tournaments apart...

This " SC2 wouldnt be as big if not for Idra" is bullshit... What does it say about org. like MLG, IPL, GSL, NASL, DREAMHacks and all other organizations + teams?

Are you guys really that dumb?

name some guys who consistently win big name tournaments....and list what they win in there too

k thanks

Name tournaments that Idra has won? You'll be going back to 2011. He's irrelevant. Remember guys like fruitdealer? And DRG? Who dominated the scene at one point? They've disappeared too. Nobody is integral to the sc2 scene. New talent will show up and old faded talent will disappear.

Although I'm not necessarily an Idra fan I still love seeing good things for him because it's Idra, hopefully he can pull a Naniwa and use this as a opportunity to reform his image up a bit as much as I disagree that this should have to happen (I'm still sour about how people hated on Naniwa for being awesome)

best of luck Idra, hopefully you can do whatever makes you most happy whether that be continuation of SC2 or taking a break

Greg,

I am sorry this happened to you brother and I hope you don't take it too hard. Use it to make you a better person and not drag you down. All my love.

I've always had a silly little theory about IdrA. I think he'd have been better off had he not dropped out of high school and then gone to college. He's clearly a really smart guy, but I feel like he missed some critical maturation that maybe could have come with college. I dunno, just spitballing here. I've always liked IdrA, but a lot of his behavior really dissapoints me in terms of his maturity level

Meh people here don't hate IdrA, they just hate themselves. His lack of filter when expressing his feelings is just the mirror which shows you the somewhat ugly truth. While his comments were probably ill advised from a political and professional standpoint, I don't really hold it against him because, as per usual, he was pretty much right on point.

If what people really wanted was just the highest level gaming possible they wouldn't complain when all the foreign players are out of tournaments by the round of 16.

you want to elaborate on the profundity and legitimacy of that truth, then? because to me and most people he just looks like a rager, but I guess he's some sort of postmodern folk hero speaking truth to power that nobody else can see.

Profound truth? Not particularly. He basically said its an entertainment business and the reality of the situation is people shouldn't hold it against him that he gets more publicity/viewers than players who are posting better results. Sc2 viewers are extremely fickle, and having a character is basically the only way to be consistently relevant to the scene. Is it dumping on fans? I guess so, but ultimately it's true, so if people take that as an insult maybe instead of shitting on IdrA for telling the truth they should reflect on their own behavious and choices when deciding which players o watch/support.

Hey Idra, welcome to the real world. You are about to find out that the real world sucks a whole lot mroe than being paid 6 figures to play a video game. In about a year, he will be crying at how stupid he was to throw the good life away.

I agree with their reasons for releasing him...In fact I voiced this same feeling on his fan forum about 2 weeks ago and got temp. banned for it! But I do hope he finds his love of the game, or finds some joy in something else, if you are constantly unhappy it usually means that you have some imbalance in your life. There is no reason for someone as intelligent and mechanically practiced as Idra not to get get better results AND be happy to be paid to play professional Starcraft. Hopefully he will re-prioritize and find his path.

I hate this ****.
You're the person IdrA was talking to and I'm finished with this thread and discussion you're all a bunch of fucks.

User was temp banned for this post.

No doubt you're one of the elusive, typical Idra fans these days. Coincidence? Don't let the door hit ya on the way out . . .

Funny he got banned for speaking the truth. Just like idra for pointing out how much of a tool all you haters are who watch his stream just to talk shit and troll him while unintentionally making him rich hahahaha.

Haha . . . ha?

Except that, like 95% of the community that you just called "tools" and 'haters", I rarely watch his stream. I never go into his chat. And I never troll him.

Are you Idra posting on a different account? Regardless of who you are, as Sundance would say: you just don't "get it".

You are a liar, you have contributed in the past and you are contributing now making him ever more popular.

it sucks and this is the reason why Naniwa was giving such "humble" responses at Dreamhack, it sucks but he really has no choice

Finally!
Now get all this "personalities" out of Esport who doesnt work their ass off...
Firing IdrA is a good start.

It was and it will ALWAYS be hardcore to survive in such a short term business. Thats why i love players/casters etc who are running miles every single day and work on their skills daily.

At least...show some respect and love to the people who make it all possible.
I am not talking about "faceless" Players...but there is no need to act like IdrA. Next up..:Stephano please...for last couple of months i only see him shirtless and drunk on every Event.

Give Incontrol more morey instead...he is not an hardcore player...but it seems like he is putting such much effort into this Esport thing.

Did not see this coming... I even thought IdrA was getting better. Sadly, this was not the cause.
Hopefully he finds something that he loves doing and if it continues to be Starcraft, good luck finding another team, Greg!!

I'm sure there is an odd job out there for him . Also he can be a funny caster or something. He can be like the old grumpy guy but in a young man body.

I think it takes a bigger man to apologize when you are in the wrong. All the best to both parties involved!

You know, it's kind of funny in an ironic way. On one hand, everybody preaches about how e-sports has to become "professional" and "well-respected". Isn't that the main reason why people wanted to kill Destiny every single time he did something, why players like Stephano got a lot of crap for stuff he said/did, why cheaters/hackers always get the axe, and why Orb got himself into deep shit?
On the other hand, you have a guy like IdrA, who is lionized by certain members of the foreigner community to be an upstanding person. I'm confused.
¯\_(シ)_/¯
