MVP upsets favorites LG-IM to take the first and final IPTL of 2013.
The IPTL 2013 Season 1 finals were played tonight on HotS between LG-IM and MVP, with MVP taking it down to the wire in a 5-4 score. The best performing player from LG-IM was MC as he took down his opponents with a mixture of HotS and WoL builds. In his first game against Dream, MC opened with his trademark stargate HotS PvT, transitioning into macro play, in contrast to the all-ins he showed at MLG. However, in the next three series, he showed only WoL builds, specifically the WoL all-ins he was known for. While his 4 gate pressure into blink stalker all-in and his blink stalker observer all-in worked again Shine and the newcomer, Bang, respectively, his immortal all-in was held decisively by NAKSEO. In the end, Super, previously known as Vampire, proved to be the hero for MVP, defeating some of LG-IM's best HotS players in YoDa, RagnaroK, and Squirtle. Super dared to defy conventions against each of the races he was put up against. He held on against YoDa's Terran aggression, proved that the immortal all-in could still work against RagnaroK, and held off a four-gate with a one-gate fast expansion against Squirtle. For his victories, MVP took home a $9,000 check while LG-IM settles with $4,000.
Season 1? Does this mean IPL plans on having another IPTL season? Or did they just stick with that name since the season started before they canceled IPL6?

they just stuck with the name. No more IPTL (I guess theres a possibility they run one under a different name? idk someone said that)
I find it hilarious that ROOT beats FXO and is a 'Premier' team and yet according to Liquipedia they got $250 whereas FXO got $1000. What kind of tournament bases rewards on where teams start instead of where teams finish?

Opinion of right or wrong aside. But since you asked for tournaments that does that...
The GSL does this. Someone in Code S, drops out of Ro32 and out of Code A will make more than someone who makes it to Code S from Code A. It's not the exact situation, but similar. There aren't really many multi-tiered leagues out there.
