Now this thread is even funnier, because it says "Stephano can play in his matches" and we have tons of responses saying "God dammit! NOOOOO!!! This is the worst luck ever! It's not fair!"

LOL :D Yeah, I clicked the thread with changed titled, thinking it was a new one, and saw the responses before I realised "Oh wait... This is the old thread!".

Wait, I just realized this is another publicity stunt pulled by EG. Because previous forfeits were announced officially by GOM

This should really bring the respect level up for Idra, Jinro, Huk, TLO, Ret, Haypro etc. These guys actually honored what it meant to be playing Starcraft in Korea and to practice and prepare and actually care about what it is to be a Progamer in the way Koreans do. I especially respect Jinro and Idra for this because he lived on his own in Korea, qualified, and actually made his way through the tournament all the way to ro16/ro8/ro4. That has truly never been matched by any other foreigners in my opinion. The rest of the guys mentioned also at least had respect and performed reasonably well too. (Huk more so than others but yeah).

Funny thing is that I remember Idra being the first to give up his Code S spot, so he can concentrate on US tournaments, starting the trend to do this. There will always be a Hero version and a Villain version to what people do.

Stephano forfeits: 30 page with 90% hate.

Anybody realising?

Stephano is just a SC2-player, he does what he thinks is best for him. LIKE ANY OTHER PLAYER.
Most herp derps complaining about Stephano would do 100% the same in his situation!

btw: Sad for Taeja. He deserved his shot in the finals...=(

Actually there is a subtle diffrence
Grubby was never put in the schedule and we got official word from GOM and they took it into account. Remember the 49code A spots?
Stephano was put in the schedule, even his teammate assumed he would play and suddenly he announces on twitter he aint going to.

What about Rain, aLive , Ganzi, ForGG etc etc ? No one cares . But eh its Stephano so let's email sponsors and insult him a little bit because we are so much better than him .

lollll actually not, EG saw that so many people were pissed and they jsut forced him to compete. he didnt want to ibet cause hes all about money. stephano actually doesnt give ashit about his fans or the expectations from the comunity, we see it when he streams we see it when hes not even trying to answer questions in interviews. he said it himself, it wasnt worth streaming if he didnt have a certain amount of viewers.

People didn't even give a damn when Thorzain actually forfeited his Up&Down matches in order to "focus on WCS EU Championships", an event that was two weeks away and where he then got knocked out in the second round of the Loser's Bracket.

Announced through Twitter, mind you.

It's a bit irrational, all of this. Indeed it is.

It's assumed since they are on the same day and Up and Downs take place before SPL. Stephano said he would forfeit because he would already be on the plane which is clearly not the case. More announcements tomorrow though I guess to confirm

While its true that he forfeited.. It wasn't mid season..it was after the season was over. It was also him moving back to america. He also was "on top" at the time. Hell GSL even did a damn tribute video to him. No villain side at all.

On a side note, good job TL! EG caved to the crazy pressure that exploded from that tweet and he will have to honor his committments to GSL after all.

Since UP & Downs are played before PL, he will not be on a plane for the matches. Logic I guess. Now if he plays only PL and not up & downs, people have a reason to be upset again .
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

First time I've ever heard someone calling IdrA a hero hahahaha. Awesome.

But no, IdrA's history in the GSL, and how he eventually moved on after leaving the scene, was far different than what Stephano is doing. IdrA's was long, well-deserved, and respectful. And not dropping out all of a sudden like this.
