Sad to see once great organizations (tough allmost only based on CS 1.6) die out like this. Then again failing to put up SC2-roster / LoL / Dota2 is pretty bad. With name like mTw I just can't see how they managed to fckd it up so badly. I guess its just the players nowadays expecting to get paid monthly that is killing these older organizations that just don't have the money to support a whole team of players.
I dunno, im just speculating...

15 years of service... Its truly a sad day.

Sad to see another legendary clan go :/

Requiescat in pace (R.I.P.) mTw. It is always painful to read of a team's disassociation with Starcraft. Should we be in awe of Destiny's prescience, or will the current tides change with time?

The problem is that Esports organizations need to be constantly adapting as old games give way to new games. Sure, you are/were a powerhouse in CS1.6 but SC2/LoL/DotA2 are the big games now and those players you are paying can't transition to a new game. Traditional sports teams don't have to worry about finding entirely new teams in games they may not fully understand yet. We are already seeing many SC2 teams being killed off as interest shifts more towards LoL/DotA whereas 2 years ago SC2 was spearheading the Esports scene. mTw was one of the teams that never fully got into SC2 with a miniscule roster and next to no exposure and I'm assuming that their prior status and longevity of the brand kept them afloat much longer than they should have.

R.I.P. mTw.
- What a shame

Sad, stil remember there good cs clan back in the days.

I remember mTw being around as long as eSports. Particularly, I remember their WC3 teams being top notch. They were well-respected along with teams like SK, and it's sad to see them go. But 15 years is a pretty good run! So instead of being sad, I'll say "congratulations!" for 15 years of eSports, mTw!

Didnt their general manager left some time ago for Roccat or something? Difficult to know if there was real lack of money or lack of management. In any case its quite sad

Sad day. I remember being a fan of mTw all the way back in WC3. =[

On a serious note, this is a sad day. MTW was a great team in the Esports scene.

Sad to see them go, but I really don't buy their reasoning.
As people have pointed out basically everything about eSports is better now than it was a few years ago, or even when mTw was at it's prime.
They barely invested in SC2 and they called it quits early on their LoL teams. If you fail to invest properly in two of the largest eSports what do you think is going to happen? As a former WC3 player I'm really sad to see them go because as a team they have a great history and have accomplished so much, but the failing here isn't in the sustainability of eSports or anything else, it's poor management somewhere.
Or rather it's a combination of them not investing enough in the popular eSports and also there is more competition now than there was back in mTw's prime, so mTw would have to really work at maintaining their reputation.

As one who was introduced to esports by watching CS, it's a sad news.
