Choi " Polt" Seong Hoon is the star of the 22nd 'Grilled' interview in the series, subtitled into English. The GSL Super Tournament champion of 2011 also recorded back-to-back third place finishes at IPL5 and NASL4.
Some of the topics discussed: - How he was able to come out of nowhere, relatively, to win the GSL Super Tournament. - What he had to overcome in MMA's style to 4:0 the future GSL champ in that final. - What is unique about Polt's approach to TvZ. - What makes his games against Stephano so close and fun. - Whether he'd bet a million dollars on Flash becoming the best SC2 player ever, overcoming Mvp in SC2 accomplishments or failing in each task. - How BM Koreans are. - Whether Korea for foreigners is comparable to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Dragonball Z.
On overcoming low APM in TvZ:
"It's true that I don't have the highest APM, or the best control out of everyone, but I just try to play as efficiently as possible, so I don't rapidly overclick, and then I just try to pay attention to the fights at hand, so I can deal with them accordingly."
On facing Stephano:
"Because we've played each other a lot, we tend to sort of know each other's styles. So every time we play it's different, because we have to figure out those one or two things we have to do to beat the other person, and it's different every time."
The luckiest SC2 player:
"Fruitdealer, I think he was really lucky to win the first GSL championship."
The entire 18m32s video interview, with subtitles, can be watched at Team Acer.

Oh cool, thanks for the interview Acer! Can't wait to see the Poltimus.

Great interview, and a great guy!

Sorry but usuallly the interviewer performs better research than this; Polt has only been known as having great unit control (but early on in his career his macro was terrible, like gold players today are better at producing scvs than polt was back then). Today his unit control is probably the best of any terran player, so I think the question should be; How can he have such good control despite low apm.

Sick ! Csnt wait to watch >: D

What APM does he play at that he considers 'low'?
|
Great interview as always! But I think Polt was the luckiest SC2 player to win Super Tournament.
|
Polt sounds a lot smarter than most other players. The way he composes himself is just really elegant.

He is usually around the low-mid 200's and dips around 180.
I liked the interview, but it was hearing that TvP was the match-up that gave him the most trouble. Polt became known through his TvP by going 10-0 to start his GSL career and routinely beating top end Protoss like MC.

I really like the last question so awesome!

I think in an alternate universe, there's a Dark Polt completely opposite of Light Polt that is super BM

Thanks Thorin, I enjoy your interviews/articles. They're really good!

yeh i also noticed this. Kinda seemed to me that the interviewer had somewhat forgotton the early stages of GSL. Polt became known as marine/banshee allin, and I think that he prior to his GSL win was already very well-known. His win was similar as Jjiaki as he wasn't (even after the win) recognized as one of the best players in the world. Back then I think that was deservedly as he wasn't that good. Today, however, he is probably the best terran.

Fruitdealer lucky! Blasphemy
|
"I think Fruitdealer was very lucky to win the first GSL." Now that is some BM, Polt !
|
I used to root against him in his matches against Stephano but I duno anymore, I think I may have waffled to Polt's side. Gogo Polt.
|
Yay Polt! One of my favorite players to watch. Unfortunate that he was in a group of death last gsl. Thanks for the interview!
|
I really like Polt. I'm still so sad, that he left Prime

Loving these interviews keep it up Acer!

there's even subtitles there's no excuse not to have this in transcript form too .___________.

Fruitdealer is a genius, that is not luck. : )

Thank you for another great interview. Polt is the man!

I'm loving these interviews! Polt is a beast!

Awesome work again, Thorin!
Anyone know when Polt is going back to University?

They want to go the acer website to check it out instead of just reading it on TL so they get more people to their website is what I'm guessing
|
I find it a little weird that the interviewer constantly refers to Polt's TvZ as his best match-up, when it is TvP. His TvZ might be his most famous, but is his weakest match-up overall, like 48% in Korea.
|
I've always thought that Polt is more known for his TvP and marine/tank vs marine/tank TvT. He's known for giving birth to the 1/1/1 build vs protoss. Don't know why people keep calling him a TvZ specialist. Don't know why a lot of casters keep saying that Polt like drop play in TvZ.

He was the first terran to have success after the ghost snipe nerf. I would also say TvZ is his best.

There's really no reason not to.
Anyway, the interviewer talking about Polt as a TvZ specialist and someone who struggles with TvP is actually a complete reversal of the truth. Not sure where that all came from.

Thanks for the interview. Polt and Bomber are my favourite terran players
|
Really liked that last question, it's cool getting to see what players Polt thought were best in each category, and he answered nicely aswell giving an explanation why.
|
Strange that someone would consider his TvZ as his best matchup. TvP is, imo. He can surgically decompose any protoss play. Few finals vs zerg isnt showing a big picture.
|
Because I like Polt so much is the first time I watch a 20 minute interview n_n.

Because people are uniformed and like to say generalities. :p Good interview. Sometimes I'm amaze at how long sentences are in korean to say really short english ones tho lol.
I like how he explained the difference in style leading to the MMA Polt and Mvp triangle.

Funny you mention that, he actually accused Jinro of being lucky for reaching Code S Ro4 twice; Jinro proceeded to beat him.

Another amazing interview. I love the style of questions you ask + the huge range in topics. I feel like after every interview acer releases I see that player in a different light, understand them better. Keep it up this content is incredible!
