Do you honestly think that they told DoA "hey, you, guy that made angry post about us and made us look bad, do us a favor and come commentate for us this one time"?

Obviously it went via OGN - Doa said himself that it was a "favor" from OGN, not him personally. And yes, it makes perfect sense for OGN to step in as one of the parties that was interested in providing the cast in the first place. This way, they offered a solution to prevent a PR disaster of not having an opening matchday streamed, something that their rival - IEG - couldn't do.

It certainly wouldn't be constructive for OGN to just sit on their asses and do nothing until the agreement is reached. Nor it would be beneficial to any party linked to broadcasting the Proleague to have no English stream on the opening day. Of course OGN would do what they can to prevent it as an interested party.



Try harder compared to what? There have been no periods without English streams. The only reason this discussion exists is because of a leak that shouldn't have happened. OGN has not yet announced anything about their future regarding English broadcast.



There is no indication that the deal broke down at any point as of yet though.

OnGameNet caster DoA, who wrote a distorted, easily misunderstood post based on one-sided misinformation, has apologized for has made a correction. The association plans to immediately respond to the spread of baseless rumors rooted in distorted information.

There's a foreigner team in proleague now. If there's no live stream, less people will watch which means less exposure to the sponsors. If you have international sponsors, they're not going to be happy with a Korean stream or a do-it-yourself from home production. The whole "mailing the sponsors" meme doesn't exist because it's not effective.

The PR disaster of not having a day 1 stream would've hurt Kespa and put even more pressure on Kespa to work out their differences with OGN. It would've served OGN well in a strictly selfish manner. OGN was supposed to host the English stream, we all knew that. Then something happened and OGN was no longer allowed to. What this something is, none of us know. Proleague went from English stream by OGN, to no English stream by OGN. That's certainly something we should be made aware of. Clearly there was no alternative ready, or they wouldn't have DoA/Monte casting the opening day matches.

For some reason you're assuming between tomorrow and the next day, some alternative will pop up that'll be just as good as the English stream we would've had from OGN. Yet there is no indication anywhere for this to be true. Surely that's reason to be concerned. Most certainly a restream won't cut it.

Now I'm downright angry that Kespa is trying to play the "we still planned on having english casts just not with OGN" card because CLEARLY having this come up 2 days before the games means that this could not have been publicized earlier and of course Doa was in the right to make sure his ass is covered when he doesn't cast the games on saturday.

Meanwhile a day later Kespa comes in and tries to lump the blame on Doa, then tries to act like the english casting is still going to be high quality. This is quite similar to the issue when Kespa tried to boycott the GSL by having none of their players be a part of that first season. Frankly Kespa is really not garnering any foreign fans, but lets' be honest. Were not here for Kespa, and we never were. We are here to see some awesome proleague.
