While Naniwa and Stephano are awaiting to find out their teammates through the IPL WC tournament qualifier, the Korean team is set. All five will be coming to IPL5 to not only play in the World Championship show match, but participate in IPL5 as well.

The team is: (T)Mvp, (Z)DongRaeGu, (P)Seed, (P)MC and (Z)Life

Life was already going to IPL5 as Startale's representative from being in the top four of IPTL. Since Life gets a WC spot, Bomber is coming to Vegas as Startale's representative.

Damn, that's a tight lineup.

Looking at the player list, it's pretty much everyone from the GSL traveling to Vegas. TSL is sending Polt, Symbol, Hyun and Shine.

LOL

Well no foreigner would beat any of them in Korea but this is in Vegas so anything can happen. I would still put Koreans on stupid odds of winning comfertably in Bo3s, but i think it will be Bo1?

My order of play would be
DRG > Seed > MC > MVP > Life

I am not sure about that. It is a best of 1. I am sure Leenock and HyuN (IPL version) would be 50/50 against Life.

I'm so pumped to see Mvp defend his country. No foreigner can hold a candle to Mvp... the sight of Mvp's trophy room is probably enough to make them quake in their boots.

nice that Seed gets to have a shot at winning a foreign tournament and MVP gets to make up for not showing at IPL4.

IM has an open spot since they made the semifinals last season.

They'll probably send Yonghwa or Nestea.

Only one I would change is MC. But I guess I'd put in Leenock, so that would make too many zergs.

Yeah, that is pretty amazing. And I'm n ot contesting their dreamy superiority, but this Korean team is made up of all Code S champions, with MC and MVP having won multiple.

Is this all kill format? If it is I hope they just send out Life first, quick all kill and get back to the main show :D

Mvp at IPL5 will be awesome.

I think they will play both proleague (without ace) and winners league format.

and then if those are split evenly, they will play super-ace

I feel like Yonghwa earned it more for winning WCG korea and finally making code A but it'll probably be Nestea because he's a bigger name, they'd be sending all their champions and he did well at the last ipl. Either way IM will be well represented.

Koreans looking awesome, now we have to hope the foreigners didn't fuck up in the qualifiers. A Stephano/Nani/Grubby/TLO/Axslav team wouldn't be much fun for me.

I want to see Stephano/Nani/LucifroN/Vortix or Nerchio and Sen or Scarlett from NA/World

VortiX, Lucifron, Nerchio, Mana and Scarlett are all viable good options. WCS should gives us an idea on who is good enough.

Good chance for the non-korean team. MC looks beatable, MVP looks beatable, DRG looks beatable, Seed looks beatable. The only player in top form is life.

probably Kas, Lucifron, HasuObs, MaNa, Dimaga or smth like that

Great team, but definitely not the best atm; Missing notable players like Leenock or Symbol (over DRG), Rain or Parting (over MC), and maybe even Taeja over MVP given MVP's current conditions.

Replace Kas for Lucifron and you're set!

No. I think Kas > Lucifron.
Don´t overestimate Lucifron just because he had a good run at WCS EU

wtf? He just won the stim to the win 4-1 vs stephano, less than a week ago.

Ok that´s a big call. I sadly missed this

IPL is doing qualifiers to determine the foreigner team.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=381054

Kas just lost 1-3 to LucifroN, the players for EU will be the winner of Luci vs Grubby and one of Nerchio/TLO/VortiX/Thorzain. For the sake of competitiveness I'd like to have LucifroN and either VortiX or Nerchio, that'd make a well rounded team.

If you look at the qualifiers the most likely foreign team in my opinion is:

Naniwa, Stephano, Lucifron, Nerchio and Scarlett (the only other 2 possibilities are probably Vortix and Sen).

I think that team is pretty good and should be able to give the Koreans a battle at least. They will most likely lose but there should be some seriously awesome games in this series.

IPL5 will be the highlight of the year I feel. IPL4 was ridic stacked and this is gonna top it probably. Sadly they doin such a bad job marketing the qualifiers. I follow a lot of sc2, but this qualifier didnt catch my attention at all.

If Team USA can somehow snipe Life prob in zvz with sb like Nerchio, Scarlett or Sortof I think they have a decent shot at making it really close.

You serious?
You want to snipe the guy who has 75% winrate against korean Zergs?

I guess you should go ahead and watch Nerchio vs Curious in TSL.

Did you just confuse Nerchio with Lalush? I mean, they both rage but otherwise they're pretty different from each other.

not the absolute strongest Korean line up, but should be good enough for this. Would love to see MVP vs Stephano, dont think they have played before?

How can you call it Team USA when there is a high probability of no American players even being in the team.

Indeed.

Go watch the first GSL World Championship team match from last year. Then, all will be clear.

For the people that say "i would replace x with y" don't forget it is based of GSL ranking and not who currently is thought as the best.
Got all the winners and a runner up of the year.

Life was already going to IPL5 as Startale's representative from being in the top four of IPTL. Since Life gets a WC spot, Bomber is coming to Vegas as Startale's representative.

Wait, does that mean Life won't play in the IPL tournament itself? He'll just play in the world championship?

It's Lucifron, Thorzain or Major and Lucifron is the only one with a very good chance at getting a spot, he only needs to beat Grubby in a BO5. Thorzain will have to beat VortiX and then Nerchio or TLO and Major will have to fight through Scarlett and Sen among others.

I agree with the guy above who said Lucifron. I think that's the strongest team we could make right now. You could argue that other (Z or P) players are technically stronger than Lucifron, but having a Terran is important.

Might wanna watch that ye. But what is your proposal for Life ? I think zvz is the best chance to beat him. Maybe Nani with some really clever all in.

But you might wanna watch Nerchios wins vs Symbol or Hyun in online cups. Sure everybody will be the underdog vs Life, but I think trying a zvz might be a good idea.

That leads me to my next question. Does the world team have a coach ? Sb that prepares them and make the calls ? I figure it is gstl format ?

Not as bad as it could have been, but still looks pretty unbeatable. The only way I see the Korean's losing is if Stephano goes on an amazing beast mode winning streak.

Probably Seed though, because MC's got that badass factor.

(Z)Stephano
(P)NaNiwa
(T)LucifroN
(Z)Nerchio

Terran & Potato Salad.

of the 5 players only life currently is in top shape

He got worked over by Leenock. Timings always look great when you win. YoDa looked like a Terran bonjwa when he beat HyuN in Ro32. I am not saying Bogus did not look good. I am just saying you can't put him as top 5 after a few games. It would be like put Creator ahead of Rain because we saw great timings from Creator to kill DRG while Rain's last PvZ were losses to Leenock.

You will notice that all timings are 'sick' or 'perfect' because otherwise they fail and the player usually loses. You will rarely see a player hitting a 'decent' or 'average' timing.

According to TLPD,

3rd best terran
9th and 16th best protosses
1st and 8th best zergs

So eminently beatable. MC/DRG/Seed shouldn't even be in consideration for form, so I guess they're here for popularity.

It's based off GSL rank points

Name                 Points
1 Mvp                 6852
2 DongRaeGu    5568
3 Life                  5165
4 Seed               5135
5 MC                  3261

The Korean line-up is looking good.
IPL5 will probably be the best event of the year (Maybe only rivaled by WCS EU)

Sick as fuck team, can't help feeling that whoever the foreigner team comes up with, we'll get stomped regardless.

I think the best chance vs Life is to have a Protoss player do nothing but study Parting's replays/VODs for 2 weeks.

no Leenock? After carrying his team through the GSTL this season? really? or GuMiHo? Who made this team?

I know I like FXO, and I'm not saying that both of those players deserve to be in there, but at least ONE of them. I mean, they put in MC for god's sake - The once famous obamatoss who has won nothing important recently.

Whatever. I honestly hope Korea loses this time (yeah, for the first time ever).

Even if MC, DRG and Seed haven't shown the best form lately, they're still champions who know how to win games. This is a killer team, very well rounded.

Well he did include MC.

I guess the most competitive foreign team would have to include 5 zergs. Stephano, Nerchio, Scarlett, VortiX...well 4 zergs and NaNi

It would be racist to not include terran though, and LucifroN is easily in the class of the 5 listed above. Easily the best foreign terran.

Doubt they wanna risk that again.

I can see foreigners taking this one, the biggest obstacle I feel are Life and MVP, if any of the foreigners get a good sniper maybe it's possible.

Kind of a weak team. I mean Historically this is the best team, however recently there could have been far better Korean teams.

... I think the Korean team is just going to come in, bash the foreign team over the head with the combined weight of their trophies, then take the money and go attack the IPL5 brackets with those same trophies.

Seriously, no matter how it was determined, this Korean team is imba, and in need of a nerf.

The foreign team will really have to work for it to get this, unless one of them goes on some crazy all kill streak in the second round and takes the ace too. Unfortunately, the best man for that kind of work (Taeja) is on the GSL side.

Seems weird that those would be the representatives, especially for Toss. I feel like Leenock is better than DRG currently, and that Rain, PartinG, or Creator would be better picks than MC and Seed in their current states

Holy shit, Team USA has got their work cut out for them. In some ways, picking the best Koreans is tough but GSL ranking seems like a pretty solid way of doing it without being too biased. As luck would have it, Seed/DRG/Life are all pretty much team league beasts, while Mvp and MC will be excellent snipers.

With Seed and Mvp already guaranteed IPL5 participation, I wonder which IM member will be sent based on TAC3. I had a feeling it would be Seed or YongHwa earlier, but YongHwa is at WCG, and now Seed has a seed, so makes me wonder. NesTea or Losira perhaps? First is also a candidate.

Well it is based on GSL points, so we can't really argue with that. Although some of these players are recently "struggeling" they should still easily smash any non-korean opposition.

oh yeah forgot Yonghwa is in WCG. So he's out.

Nestea should be sent fo sho then. In terms of merit Losira and First aren't much more deserving though they've done better in foreign tournaments recently, Nestea has had the better year and did well in IPL4 in particular. The gap is in his star power, which would be better for IM overall most likely, considering they'd be sending all three of their champs.

I can see Stephano all-killing this team as long as he can beat Life. Mvp has an injury, DRG and MC are in slumps and Seed is the next jjakji.

The team should have been: Parting, Symbol, YongHwa, Life and I guess Squirtle or Bomber are pretty good at team leagues.

taeja already qualified via a regionals

so has Polt, MKP, CranK, Creator, HerO, MMA, Symbol, HyuN, ByuN, RyuNg. (for those who keep saying they should invite this and that w/o looking at LIQUIDPEDIA)

Genius, Sea, Bomber is also coming in via IPLTAC3

Notable names missing imo: God, Kespa players, PartinG, Leenock.

Mvp, DongRaeGu, Seed, MC and Life

Is such a sick team:
Mvp,the greatest Starcraft 2 wings of liberty player of all time.
DRG, former greatest zerg, some of the best mechanics in the world, along with the some of the best muta-ling play.
Seed, he takes your soul once he beats you, what else is there to say?
MC, the master of allin's and force-fields.
Life, the current greatest zerg, & master of everything zerg.

Team USA may be in trouble.

I don't get it. That makes 5 people on the Korea team and 7 people on the world team. Which is it, 5v5 or 7v7?

It was reduced to 2 spots from EU and one from NA/World.

But top 3 from EU and top 2 from NA get spots in IPL 5.

That's actually sort of relieving. The only players NA have are Huk, Scarlett, and Sheth. Or maybe IdrA, didn't he play well at MLG?

5vs7 to give the foreigners a chance

Agreed. That sounds about right if it is all-kill format. At least they don't have Leenock, Creator, or Parting
