Just a rough translation, nothing too deep. I'll leave it for others to translate fully.
Basically;
Park Yong-un (Coach Park) will be stepping down as 감독 (team director/manager) and remain at SK Telecom in an advisory role. After 4 years, he feels its time to reduce his work load after getting married. During his tenure, Park has taken SKT to four Proleague finals, winning two of them.
BoxeR will become the new 'head coach' (수석 코치, not 감독 though). However his fellow coaches will still help him out with various team decisions and what not.
i wonder what kind of changes BoxeR will bring to the team. Coach Park brought a much much more rigorous training environment to the team when he was brought on.

Anyone else see this as a way to boost SC2 in SK rather than a smart move? I mean boxer is a coach not a team coach. Boxer seems to give off a player/coach aurora than head coach mentality. SKT should leave coach park alone he's been done great with SKT.

And what if Coach Park is the one who wanted to step down like is said in the interview? Should they force him to continue against his will?
I think BoxeR will do great, he's an awesome coach and I think he'll be very good in this position.

this is really minor news.
it would be retarded for them to replace a strong asset for the sake of having a headline at fomos for a day.
we don't know what goes on behind those closed doors, for all we know BoxeR is the greatest coach in the world and he's the single reason behind Rain's success.
funny that there was never an official statement from Slayer regarding Boxer move as far as I know (Jessica claimed there would be one but never did it)
They need to have some kind of goodbye ceremony for coach Park. He was always an incredible coach and build (... and bought!) an extremely successful team.

Im sad for coach park ,and at the same time sad for boxer, cause this means he is not coming back with Hots. I had still some hope on that ^^ . On the other side, its a really good move for SKT1 ,and boxer himself. Lets see if he can raise Bisu as top protoss and fanatasy as top terran, besides what Rain is already.
I'm actually excited about this. This year for SKT has been kind of a wash. The finals thread was so empty it just felt wrong. Grateful for Coach Park but BoxeR definitely will do a great job.
Can you imagine though when oov comes back? If he does lol. Wow :o
No big deal really. With Boxer being made head coack just a short time before Slayers disabanded, it seems all but obvious that this is their way of getting around the GOM/KeSPA embargo. I'll bet several ex-SlayerS players end up on SKT1 before the end of the month.

Seems like MMA and Boxer are not exactly on the best of terms.....

i think they can't. there is lock on exchange between kespa and gom.

Actually it was between KeSPA and eSF. SlayerS was never part of eSF but they agreed to play by the rules of this agreement. However with the team no longer being - well - the team, the players can probably come along as there is nothing stopping them.

Not sure it ever involved SlayerS, considering they were never in the ESF
boxer's stature is such that even if he plays bonky, he's still a great influence on the team. from what i see he's very serious with the work ethic and is a clubhouse coach of sort.
Sad to see Park take a lesser role, but he's had a hell of a workload these past 4 years and it's paid off. At least he'll still be around in an advisory role; he deserves to get some time off with his family.

you should read the slayers disbanding topic, and you'll understand why MMA would never rejoin SKT.

I think they can ( Not 100% sure though ) SlayerS never joined ESF AFAIK they never agreed to trade block formally Plus many players became teamless so no one can exactly tell them what to do
Coach park, thanks for bringing us the multiple PL finals appearances and champions.=) Good luck and congrats on Boxer's promotion, I expect expect great things from him and the team.
Yes BoxeR! I hope everything goes great here and I'm sure he is a great team coach. Sad about Coach Park but I totally understand why he would step down.
I don't think Park Yong-un would be stepping down if it wasn't because of boxers decision to take his roll in the team, I don't think it where much of an choice after reading about the latest Slayers news
On October 17 2012 15:12 Vundox wrote: I hope T1 doesn't turn out like Slayers
I'd bet part of the reason Boxer left slayers for T1 is because of the higher level of professionalism, the high standards, and insane work ethic. He worked really hard to be all he could be in his Broodwar days and probably wanted to be around others with that same dedication.
On October 18 2012 07:57 TommyP wrote: Excuse my ignorance, but if Boxer started SK T1, why doesnt he have all the power? Why doesnt he get the director spot?
2 reasons.
1) He left. You can't leave your space in line and expect it to still be there years later. SKT1 is probably thrilled to have him back, but there is no reason for them to make him director right now.
2) Coach Park is not retiring from SKT1; he is scaling back his involvement. IE. stepping aside as head coach to and moving into a more managerial position, from my understanding at least.

This. He was an utterly phenomenal head coach. In fact, despite my everlasting love for Boxer, he is ingrained as SKT1's coach for me, as I only started watching BW in late 2007 (weird thinking how much I post on TL.net now that it took me a year to sign up after being a lurker).

Wow, that's a challenging task. Even with boxer's fame, it is too hard, I really don't like the idea of nada creating a team. He certainly doesn't have that much money himself to put in the team at the beginning like Boxer did. Nada's personality is also too quiet, fit more for expert kind of job, instead of managing.
I hope nada just get a coach job in one of the top teams in KeSPA, just leave the business side of stuff to big companies. Since both SKT and KT already have a terran coach, Samsung, CJ or STX could be good choices, they have money.

NaDa is a business man. His dream was to open his own business, and he did that already. Now he wants to run his own team. He can do it. BoxeR's mistake was to not be in KeSPA to begin with. eSF is a joke.

Haha. SKT1 is backed by one of the biggest telcos not only in Korea, but also in the world. If Boxer would underperform, they'd have all the resources needed to replace him with someone of sufficient caliber.

He probably meant Fantasy, who Boxer has already mentioned before? Or simply assumed that SKT1 had Flash I guess. Maybe he just knew a BW powerhouse was on SKT1, although that was Bisu.
Happy for Boxer but will really miss Coach Park. His matchup strategies were amazing and I think many of their proleague wins came down to the lineups he prepared. Coach Park and Boxer fighting@!~
