I think that EG is dumb as Fuck for having him punished. Its punishing fans, stephano, EG, sponsors, everyones. No one is winning in this.. Punishing someone when no one is fucking hurt ? lets see 3 different scenario : 1_ if it wasn't a joke. (less probability) If a lot of country, sexual majority is far below 14, in some country it can be even 9.. (yeah..). In france, it's not unusual to have a 14Years old girl pretending to be 15 or older, with makeup & everything. No one have been hurt, not even the girl. If he says this to his friend, it's that he's the first one shocked by the story. (maybe she gladly told him her age AFTER the fact that she slept with a famous pro gamer). Anyway remember stephano was in FRANCE for the facts. so why does USA care ? that's not illegal and that's not their problem. No. This has nothing to do with esports or foreign esports. Esports are a joke because people are so busy trying to make it mainstream, that noone is having any fun. So the community shrinks and shrinks til its down to the minority assholes who are telling the players to stop having personalities. Esports is a joke because people are more interested in shouting about the future and "whats good for esports" than shutting the hell up and just enjoying the scene that they chose to follow. How about instead of constantly bitching and trying to fix shit, you just enjoy it. It's fucking ridiculous that you have to censor yourself and be a corporate robot 24 hours a day if you want to be a fucking pro video game player. If he said this in an interview at a live event? That's very different. But this was a stupid in-joke between friends, it didn't mean anything, it's just a bit of silly black humor. I hate that we live in a world where the Political Correctness Police are so powerful that not even a private message on battle.net is a safe place to talk with your friends without having your job and your livelihood be put at risk. It's a damn shame. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING OFFENSIVE. He didn't insult anyone, he didn't disparage a race of people. No one was harmed at all. Just one simple moment of Howard Stern-like shock humor between friends, and he's suspended from his job for almost a month. Fuck this whole situation. | ||

The reason why homophobia is such a visceral subject is because everyone has been subjected to it for so damn long. The first time someone calls you a faggot or gay, you don't even know what the words means and thus can not be offended. It is only after prolonged exposure to the word that it takes root and you instinctively, no thats the wrong word, become programmed to find it offensive. It is an offensive word, it can be used to do massive damage to people, but pretty much every gay guy I know wouldn't care less if you called them a fag, unless you did it more than once and were directing it at them. | ||
