Anyway, not a big deal. So you hang out with pedophiles and sex criminals? You're missing the key point that PEOPLE AREN'T ALWAYS SERIOUS WHEN THEY SAY BAD THINGS. Of course people aren't always serious when they say bad things. But don't pretend that other people don't have the right to be offended and to exact ... uh, consequences on you when you say something they don't like.

Anyway, not a big deal. So you hang out with pedophiles and sex criminals? In what way is this paedophilia? It was a comment about a 14 year old, not admission or evidence over a love of children. Abusing teenagers is nothing like paedophilia. It's really starting to piss me off that people are just throwing around words like "paedophilia" and "rape". Neither of those things are remotely true. Until he's been proven to have actually done anything with a 14 year old, the only thing that should be punished are the comments - and EG's course of action seems totally appropriate and necessary. I know of the ephebophile but most people wouldn't know what I'm talking about so I used pedophile.

Anyway, not a big deal. So you hang out with pedophiles and sex criminals? You're missing the key point that PEOPLE AREN'T ALWAYS SERIOUS WHEN THEY SAY BAD THINGS. Edit: Along with half the posters in this fucking thread.
75% of people on TL will understand that given Stephano's personality it's quite possible that this is a troll. Considering that, two thoughts.
One - It's STILL unacceptable. Like making a joke about cancer or rape, making a joke about sex with minors is a taboo subject and not appropriate for public humor. Private humor when you only represent yourself and it won't get leaked? It still isn't okay, imo, but as long as it's private and stays that way, I suppose you could argue that no-one is hurt (I think that's untrue, but that's another subject!)
Two - Gaming as a whole has a poor reputation. Esports is growing, It is more likely (imo) at this point that a news story about esports would cater to the general idea that we're all slobs who live in their parents' basements and are otherwise disreputable characters. Having a story like this be public AND not get severely punished would be tarnishing the entire face of gaming altogether.
I'd argue that you're missing the key point of A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE HE IS SERIOUS, AND THAT'S REALLY BAD FOR ALL OF US.

Anyway, not a big deal. I'm guessing the majority of people posting in this thread have never been in their local pub or bar. They seem completely sheltered to be offended by something like this. And how exactly does it have anything to do with this situation? Stephano is representing team EG and their sponsors, he is not your regular random dude in a bar. It's a video game on the internet. I'm guessing most of the time you can read things worse than you hear from a random dude in a bar. Big deal. Stop taking words so seriously and grow some thicker skin. Should EG have not taken it seriously? Nope, they shouldn't have. You gotta draw the line on manufactured outrage somewhere. Too many nerds with not enough drama in their life.

I just don't understand why people actually care. Oh well going to bed. you don't understand why sponsors would care about their most famous player saying he abused a 14 year old? how don't you understand that.... The sponsors wouldn't care, until a bunch of whiny nerds started bugging them about it. Then they have to pretend to care, because I'm sure they still don't.

Yeah, EG punish him by sending him in Korea ! poor Stephano

In my country the age of consent is 16. Stephano just came back from DreamHack Valencia, Spain where the age of consent is 13. He is now going to Korea where the age of consent is 14!
So all those outraged about Stephano for joking about abusing a 14 yr old, should perhaps realise you are also criticising Spain and Korea because they have different views on this than you. It's not as if Stephano has been hanging around Lucifron and Koreans a lot recently!
In Germany a 19 year old having consensual sex with a 14 year old would be perfectly legal, too. In France the girl would have to be 15, but even with 14 it would still be something noone makes a fuss about.
Its just the Americans coming in here throwing this "statutory rape" term around that noone in Europe even heard about and trying to impose their morals onto others.

Uh wait he didnt even know if the chat was being streamed so basically he was saying that unintentionally to the public. Stephano has a punishment, but i feel like its nesecary to maintain professionalism for eg to discipline stephano although not participating in any tournaments for the month in my opinion seems a bit much coz they havent even decided to the extent of the punishment

Yeah I'm pretty sure by abuse he meant "took his lunch money". I get that its important sometimes to be politically correct, but come on.
Hey yeah, let's take my words and push them to the extreme to try and make me look silly, rather than accepting the truth of my words or arguing against them.
It's nothing to do with what the abuse was or how politically correct we have to be, it's to do with the fact that, as of now, they are JUST WORDS.
Suggesting that he raped someone or is a paedophile is nothing short of offensive to people who have actually been subject to rape or paedophilia.

If this is what happens when esports starts growing bigger, I want it to be smaller again.

This suspension gave this more publicity than the original incident, as with most cases similar to this.

Of course EG can do what they wan't etc...
I just really dislike the idea that being easily offended and quick to moral indignation is a sign of progress. Its not. To me, its progress when we can tolerate other people (including jokes and offhand remarks). Pretty much the same feeling I had with the Orb controversy. Lame.

Satouri has proven to be extremely antisocial and exacting poor judgment on several occasions. I don't know why you guys are so quick to grant him the benefit of the doubt that he was kidding.
