The only thing he said that is similar is David Kim should be raped with a tire iron. If he had said that about a female, then ShitRedditSays probably would have gone after him and he would have got suspended too.

do people actually care/offended that he typed that?

Why is so much of the discussion on rape? How have you all determined that anything even happened? He says it was a joke, who are you to decide it wasn't?
IMO, he wouldn't have used the word "abuse" or claimed to only like kids if he was serious. That's not the sort of thing you just come out with over Bnet. Also from BlinG's laughter you can clearly tell that he was sure it was a joke, and he actually knows Stephano, unlike the righteous indignation brigade.
Not saying it wasn't a shit joke and a dumb thing to say, but still.

F U for getting offended, seriously it's the internet. so people are not supposed to be offended because it's the internet? are you sick in the head? you're probably young. you need to educate yourself more. this is about morale and what's right or wrong. internet has nothing to do with that. Time and time and time again, prominent members of the "esports community" have excused their own immature behaviour by suggesting that esports are a young man's pursuit and the world should get used to the idea that you don't need to be refined and distinguished to be successful. And then of course, when someone crosses some imaginary line, the whole thing is reversed, and suddenly someone is too stupid, too reckless, too inflammatory to be accepted into the esports world. Funny how the word "rape" is somehow far over that line when it isn't even said, and meanwhile the word "rape" when explicitly said all over these forums is somehow alright. what do you mean the "word" rape?
He admitted to have ACTUALLY abused a 14yo girl and then afterwards alluded to sexual intercourse.
You're a fool if you think that in any circle that is excusable.

There are some pretty funny comments in this thread, but I can see why EG will not tolerate any of his comments. They were unprofessional and rather disturbing, especially if you are one of those people that don't understand satire.
Honesty at the same time, bad press is still press, so you can take it for what it's worth.

Funny... perhaps, but it's also the kind of impulsive behavior that could eventually, if the stars align unfortunately, bring down the whole gaming industry.

Next time Stephano shouldn't say stupid shit to this degree if he doesn't want to lose a month's salary.

I certainly don't see teams giving them PR coaching. Yeah exactly, these are young arrogant immature gamer types, not polished professional PC athletes (who conversely say all the right things but fuck up in real life). What did you really expect? Do like STX and only contract people who you have confidence in being mature and professional. If they are young then coach them on how to act. If they don't learn then let them go. I think it's obvious that Korea just has a better gaming culture, in attitude and skill, and when it comes to this kind of "humor." They don't need to be coached like this: "Okay guys, welcome to the team, but for the love of God, do not joke about being a pedophile. I can't stress this enough."
i think its obvious that koreans are trained to always "play the best for the fans" as i call it. They have no character, no rough edges. Thats why people like dragon and MC stand out so much. Thats also why stephano stands out so much.

David Kim is neither underaged nor female. If you think there is no difference between saying "this guy should be raped with this wacky item" and "I fucked a 14 yo" then there is not arguement to be had with you.

The fact that anyone is making any argument one way or another without knowing exactly what went down when the conversation itself was posted in this thread is pretty dumb. Where does he say anything about a girl?
That's actually a really good point lol. I think he's straight and I think he's hit on women before... but I suppose he could have implied a boy instead of a girl o.O

If he was kidding around and being a tard on the internet then EG is acting outside of their bounds suspending him for a series of comments that were supposed to be private. Please he never said he "raped" a girl he said he had sex with a 14 year old girl and he said it as a joke which means its not true. But still a bad joke. Okay I'm gonna stop you right there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statutory_rape Having sex with an underage person is rape, because they can't give legal consent. Period. I agree that it was probably a joke (and a terrible one at that). But still. Rape. you keep saying rape even though you just explained its STATUTORY rape
That's a form of rape >.> Rape is sex without consent, whether it's legal consent or active resistance. I didn't say he held her down. Statutory rape is a subset of rape. (EDIT: It seems a lot of people replied to me the same way you did... assuming that I was referring to the wrong kind of rape. I have no idea why you and anyone else are equivocating definitions and then attacking me when you're using the wrong "rape". You're presenting a strawman argument to say he didn't commit *any* rape, when in actuality he committed one kind of rape and not another kind. Hypothetically, of course.)

Now, the argument can surely be made that he was joking/ trolling, but the argument cannot be made that he wasn't talking about statutory rape. Come on now. It can be because where Stephano is from Statutory rape doesn't exist, nor does it in most of the world. In most places it is only considered rape when they do not consent. I don't know how many more times I can say this but rape is a word, just a word and because it is a word it has different meanings to different people. Your definition of what he was saying is different from someone else's, he never used the word rape and you shouldn't either.
That's explicitly wrong. Age of consent exists in nearly every country throughout the entire world. Here's a map depicting these ages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent Here's one more specifically of Europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Europe For the record, age of consent in France is 15. And it's statutory rape, and he knew it. And you know he knew it too, so please stop defending him. He said he's attracted to kids, and that he abused one.
I'm going to leave the thread now, because it's a little hard to juggle all the conversations, and I don't want to get heated. Sorry if there's anyone else who replied to me that I didn't respond to. You can PM me and I can reply to that a little later. ♥

unfortunate I must of missed something but did idra say something that was this bad? Like why do people keep referring to idra all the time when something happens? I know that idra can sometimes or comment bad mannered stuff in the games but something new must of happened? Idra said David Kim should get raped with a tire iron. I don't want to discuss which statement is worse. But this was entirely forced by people emailing the sponsors. Its really sad. Stupid trolls are killing esports.

It's a proactive move by EG to control the drama on their terms.
There's a good chance this would have blown up on its own (as things tend to do) so EG got in first to mitigate any damage to them and their sponsors.
