You didn't add anything. People weren't unhappy that Stephano said something on battle.net in another guy's stream, it snowballed from people with a grudge on SRS getting mad and emailing sponsors. Now that EG has issued some disciplinary action, kotaku picks it up for exposure because controversy sells, even if there wasn't a real issue to begin with. Why would people spam EG sponsors if their contact information wasn't all aggregated in one post on a subreddit that's dedicated to riling people about trivial causes?

Well I suppose the entire site isn't a homogenous grouping. Aside from that the specific Shit Reddit Says subreddit is full of pious cunts who think they're making some kind of difference. Sponsors. That's who. Without them, none of the above would be possible. Simply put, without sponsors eSports wouldn't exist. This community would be very different if SC2 wasn't an eSport. Stephano's actions only make it harder for teams to attract sponsorships. It scares the hell out of the suits to see one of the best and most recognizable players in the world say something so offensive, regardless of whether or not it was supposed to be a joke.
Based on the reaction of many of the TL members that have responded to this discussion, I worry that a significant segment of this community doesn't understand what it means to be a professional. Paychecks come with strings attached. That's the way the world works. When you cash the check, you represent your team and your sponsors every time you're in public. And make no mistake, you're in public any time you play a game under your team moniker.
Media training should be a mandatory requirement in all player contracts.

As much as I hate Stephano as a personality and representative of e-Sports, I'm not inclined to believe that he really did anything wrong here. EG is put in an impossible position where they certainly have to punish him or risk looking bad to their sponsors, however, from Stephano's point of view, he was just chatting/joking(?) with a friend (his only mistake was not making sure the friend's stream wasn't up). Also, these comments are coming from someone who spouts outrageous bullshit on a daily basis, so one shouldn't draw too many conclusions based on this conversation.
