"Today compLexity Gaming and Shin "Killer" Sang Ho have agreed to part ways.
Killer first joined our organization in February of this year following his time with TSL. During his stay with us he attended numerous global events, lived and trained in the MvP house and became a great friend.
We'd like to thank Killer very much for his contributions and wish him the very best in the future."

my favorite protoss it makes sense though. heart has been complexity's star player and killer has been really underperforming except in egmcs....hopfully complexity is just trimming the fat like they did with nada so they can pick up a csgo team

Well Volcano is still playing, dunno where's ksharp now though.
And I don't know what would be next for Killer, but Kespa teams will be looking for him, as a player or a coach, that's for sure.

(P)coL.Killer: Killer went 0-5. The only other player in history who went 0-5 in the Up/Down groups was BumblebeePrime. After going 0-5, he apparently left Prime, vanished from the universe, and is now in some different dimension trying to end the shame of going 0-5 in his Up/Down group. Let's hope the same doesn't happen to Killer.
Uh oh.
|
Yeah i hope he still is going to play the game!
|
Oh I hope he sticks around and that he wasn't "fired" due to his Up&Downs. He is such a likable personality, even if his play has fallen off a little.

Bumblebee? Who's that? :D

On September 06 2012 05:21 antilyon wrote:"Damn. I hate HotS so much! I'm going to resign from my team right and retire right now!" Makes no sense whatsoever. Why not? If he knows right now that he won't continue playing sc2 while being in the position he is in (not being in the top fighting for championship money) then why not just call it quits right now and pick up where he left his private life before coming back as a progamer? He probably have school and then 2 years of military service to be done, and in early 2013 he turns 24 korean. For someone that isn't cashing in heavily in that age it's pretty reasonable to quit now/soon.
|
where will killer go now be interesting who he gets picked up by. My dream ROOTKiller
|
Sad. After all the crap he put up with when he was innocent in the match fixing scandal, he still didn't quite make it big in SC2.
|
He'll maybe go to the military, isnt he quite "old" already?

Terious (I think?). The guy who lost to Scarlett at IPL to give her her first big win.

They needed some extra money to buy Stephano :D

Joined in February, left in September, that a 6-month contract I assume? Probably weren't willing to re-sign him for longer.
|
Killer wasn't doing well even when complexity picked him up, I was surprised at the time.
|
Ah :/ I like Killer. I remember him in the Complexity documentary. He seemed very nice. I hope he continues gaming.

Sangho. ;_; Good luck in the future.
|
lol that was quick, didnt really see much of him anyway
|
Well, that was unexpected
|
I wish him the best of luck. I wonder though why is it pro gamers don't stay with a team longer. I mean in Baseball players often play with a team for several years while under contract.
|
Damn not more StonecoLdKiller
|
Killer nooooooo! I hope he keeps playing and that he finds a good home elsewhere
|
Killer has always struck me a tragic figure, I've wanted him to do well to no avail
|
Poor Killer, was one of my more favourite players from early in GSL. Good luck dude

becose esport teams dont have the money to keep players that dont produce results . i guarantee you if complexity had 100 milion dolar income / year . they would sign every single pro gamer they can .
|
Best of luck Killer. Hope you get back to code S soon and find a new team!

Not only that, but the cycle in progaming is MUCH shorter than in "real" sports, typically. Think of the players who have hit the peak and then dropped off pretty rapidly, or won once and then disappeared. Plus players can't always commit to progaming forever. You might get a year or two, but then realise/decide you can't make enough to justify putting off "real" life for even longer, and you need to leave.
Players as well are probably very reluctant to sign for long term because they won't know what their own future holds, and there are fewer guarantees in gaming, especially as it's also such a solo effort for the most part (in SC2 that is).

|
Sad to see him go, hope he finds a team that fits
|
Sangho
|
Oh, he seemed like such a scary player despite not being as well known as most of the Code S-ers. Hopefully he gets picked up by a good team and gets more recognition!
|
Good luck finding a new team!
|
Given the results of some of the other CoL roster I think it's much more likely that Killer decided to leave(retire?) rather than was pushed. I mean he's was one of 2 remaining GSL players on the team.
|
|
Damn, wonder what SangHo is up to =/
|
im sad to see Killer leave coL but i wish him luck in the future
|
It would be pretty sweet to see him coach a KESPA team. But we shall see what the future holds for Killer.
|
Gl to both parties. I hope killer doesn't go thw way of bumblebee.

Oh shit, I forgot about this. Hope history doesn't repeat itself :O

I always enjoyed Killer hopefully we'll see more of him in the future!

Didn't seem like a good fit. He didn't really have many good practice partners on his team, wasn't winning anything, and might have traveled too much. It would make far more sense for him to join a Korean team imo. Better practice environment, and while he probably won't travel as much he'll get better as a player.
Seems like a lot of Korean players who chase foreign money wind up stagnating as they get behind the general metagame, and don't win anything of note at tournaments.
I doubt Complexity will exist at the end of the year
|
Nooo killer. D: Please don't retire. :/
|
kind of saddening, coL seemed like a nice home for SangHo
|
Awww Sangho
Hope he fins a new team!
|
He didnt produce ANY results.
It was painful to watch his games.
He just couldn't keep up with other players.
|
Go go SangHo!
Hope you'll find a new team soon!

I really agree. Just look at NaDa. Stayed in Pantech forever because of his constistency.

No reason because they part ways ?
Guess complexity just kicks the players who don't bring results. And lol.
And btw ... mongmong:
On July 23rd Killer participated in the 2012 South Korea WCS Preliminaries and lost to Leenock at the finals, taking second place
That IS a result right there ...

Those are prelims. Thats basically a qualifier tournament before the actual tournament. Not much of a result. He didn't make it to the actual WCS tourney.

Not too surprising. coL seems like a team that needs results. Killer hasn't been posting too many results lately if not straight up terrible record.

result? winning in prelim is considered results??
Ask pro teams if thats even considered as "results"
so, winning in semi final of prelim means NOTHING.
if what youre saying is right, all the pro teams should recruit players who get knocked out of prelim finals of GSL.

Best of luck to killer, i hope he rejoins a korean team and starts kicking ass in code s!

Almost advancing out of the qualifiers for a national WCS tournament is not a result. He has steadily slid from GSL since joining coL and eventually got completely knocked out. The best Killer did was performing well in the playoffs of the EG Master's Cup, aka the completely online tournament which is the 3rd most prestigious team league in North America. This was after he did abysmally for coL in the group stage.
Teams sign players so that they can get the word out for their sponsors. This is either through exposure as a personality or exposure as a good player and once in a blue moon the player can be both. For foreign teams, Koreans are usually picked up for their ability to win games (as far as I can think the only Korean to be picked up with a larger emphasis being placed on their personality over their skill at the time was Nada by coL). With the exception of the aforementioned EGMC, Killer did not perform for coL. And he certainly wasn't marketing himself as a personality (admittedly hard to do with the language barrier).
Barring some incredible upswing in his results, the best Killer can hope for as far as teams are concerned is to get signed onto a Korean team for no salary. He's either going to retire within the next month or two or he'll stick around to see if he can do well in HotS.
