As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. |

I would've used a better analogy, but i'm more knowledgeable regarding pop idols Besides the fact that he's really not that famous, that's a total crock. This isn't him doing lines off a stripper's back in Vegas, it's a private convo that could've been obtained through questionable means.
He was with a famous guy, so he got caught in line of fire. That's just too bad for him
It also doesn't matter if the convo is private or not, or how it was obtained. Do you think the sponsors gave a fuck about all the whys and hows? What has happened hurts their team images and sponsor images, and that's all matters in this regards.
Don't do stupid things that may get you fired, and if you do make sure you are very careful with it.

I wonder if it'd affect your scholarship or financial aid?
Are you saying she shouldn't be held responsible for her actions? Why, because she's a woman? This. held accountable for what? Destinys actions of sharing private photos of her? Held accountable for publicly humiliating him, compromising his accounts, and trying to sabotage him! AND THEN BRAGGING ABOUT IT. That is way, way worse than some dickish behavior behind closed doors. A small pile of shit and a giant pile a shit are both a pile of shit. And stink. Would you rather have the small pile or the big pile sitting in your room? I would rather have neither. Of course, everyone would rather have neither, but in some cases (such as this), one has to choose and I'm pretty sure anyone with a semi-functional thought process would say the small pile. Pardon me, but your string of posts focuses on a single opinion: what she did was worse than what he did.
That's reasonable but I don't think that's the focus here. She is not an insanely popular (yet unaccomplished) SC2 foreigner. She is not with a professional gaming team. And her financial livelihood is not affected by sponsors of ROOT gaming. We are only talking about this because this is the SC2 general forum. Destiny is the SC2 player here.
Let's even grant you your stance: he fucked up, but what she did was absurd. But how would you as a manager/captain or as a sponsor react to all of this? For them, the only thing that matters is, "He fucked up. AGAIN" Surely you can't say publicly, "ahhh bitch is crazy." That's why these things have occurred. And I'm not saying any of this should even have occurred. You'll see in any of my posts that I never said, "Good," or "he deserved it." It's a PR nightmare, and ROOT was fucked no matter how they reacted.

Please read the thread! I will say this once since i'm a nice guy. First) She knew Destiny's password to his email which leads to his skype/twitter etc. She could of spy'd the entire time when they were talking on skype.
Second) Someone could of leaked it which is a small chance IMO. Mostly because the 2 persons in that skype chat is 2 good friends with Destiny AND they don't know this girl at all so why should they leak something that could hurt Destiny's reputation. And that was made in "private".

So if you don't want to have to give up how you are, or how you want to act, then don't fucking join a sponsored team. Destiny doesn't seem to understand this phenomenon.
Simple. lol, did you ever listen to idra?
Idra seems to know the line..
He can keep his persona without pissing off his sponsors.

The keyword here is that big "if" in your second sentence. From what has been said here and there, she has been found out to lie about a few things, ie she stated that someone in Texas gave her the chat log, that was found out to be false. Would it really be that farfetched to think she would lie to continue to strengthen her position and make Destiny look even worst?
Cause Destiny has just always been the trustworthy one here. *rollseyes*
Most likely both of them are distorting the truth, since it's clear both of them did some pretty shitty things. But no one really cares about the girl, so whatever. Destiny still acted like an asshole.

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE! This feels like town meetings on South Park.
This was a great decision really. Destiny's pretty much self-sufficient, having no real need for a team. For the time being, his being on ROOT is a liability. So he goes. ROOT saves face and continues to grow; Destiny continues to be awesome and suffers no real damage. A year or so from now, perhaps they join up again after everything's died down. I like it.
As stated before, all my support for both Destiny and ROOT.

The "politically correct" shit is so unnecessarily overdone. And often done more than not by hypocrites. All I've seen are a bunch of kids that run to sponsors and whine everytime something supposedly offensive is said.
EDIT: Although apparently this particular case had an interersting, mildly amusing turn of events. I'm guessing it was mostly complaints by people from the U.S. since we're so unnecessarily sensitive to nudity here.
Seriously these stupid little kids are ruining eSports for EVERYONE.
I wish we had names from the idiots who keep reporting people so we can shun them.

If the rest of the pro community is as short sighted as you're being, I really fear for the future of eSports. Did you really just compare domestic assault to this? I'm trying to wrap my mind around that. Apples and oranges I'd say. Didn't Tigerwood get suspended and penalized for cheating on his wife or something? Probably a better comparison Not really. Tiger Woods based his image around being a good kind of whole, family guy. Destiny has no such deception at the heart of his appeal. He is who is he is and is pretty unashamed about it. Sponsors in the case of Mr Woods withdrew because of the discrepancy between Wood's public face and his private behaviour. At least that's how I read it. I don't see how it is any relevant how destiny based his images. The sponsors that are behind Destiny's payroll are most likely all professionals that expects same things just the sponsors for tigerhood expected him to be. . Sponsors KNEW (or should have) what Destiny was like when they took him on board. Indeed the post from one of the sponsors acknowledged that his stream persona was desirable to them. Again, fuck E-sports growing to a large size if the people within it are expected to act like saints to achieve that. And yet sponsors bailed when drama happened. They wanted destiny's personality and his charisma, but they don't want anything from his drama.
Anyway, I don't see the point of what exactly the sponsors want is any relevant to this issues. The point is that you can get fired for participating or doing things that has no correlation with the job you have at hand. Conduct yourself as such so you don't get caught in the fire

Idra's acerbic personality is a brand in itself, and it does not challenge any deep moral notions. At best people can accuse him of being stubborn, dismissive, and salty. He does not call Koreans "gooks" when he loses to them, nor does he get caught sending naked pictures of girls to his friends. His private life is clean and does not threaten his sponsors in any way.

This needed to happen before ROOT could really be considered a professional team. Any team that would support a low life like Destiny obviously has no place in E-Sports. If Aaron Rodgers acted like Destiny do you think he would still be playing in the NFL? I don't think so.
This whole incident really shows his own level of insecurity.. Going behind a friend's back and doing some shit like he did is just disgusting.. The girl trusted him with the pictures, but he went and gave them out to friends... The worst part of all of this is obviously him sending her a picture of his dong. I honestly thought that weird lonely guys on chat roulette did that sorta stuff, and not someone who's suppose to be a "Professional" gamer. It's quite unfortunate that someone with so much talent and intelligence could be such a horrible person.. But his actions still don't surprise me lol
Good move ROOT

I knew he would blow it. But this is faster than I expected. Damn.
He makes Juan and Idra look like pillars of the community. Keep streaming Steven, please be more careful an grow up just a tad.

I've been a fan of Destiny since the beginning and always thought it was the community that was overreacting and being dumb over his antics. This time, though, I think Destiny went full retard. -_-
