I remember this being said when Naniwa was seeded into code S. I wonder if people would say this to Stephano.
Mana got a lot of terrans, if he's on his game this could work. He definitely can't choke like TSL though.

He's said that the Korean zerg metagame is behind the European right now, so I'd believe more in him in PvZ. But I still hope he can prove the sceptics wrong

Despite saying that, Mana is still balls in PvZ.

Mana's group is too tough I think.
Then again, jjakji and Bomber could just not show up with their A game. It isn't that far-fetched.

My predictions (mix of my estimation of their skill and me liking them):
A: Hyun, Bomber: Hyun is claimed to be the best Z on TSL by many, and Symbol already impressed me a lot, so that guy is certain to go through. Bomber I just like, I think Keen is overall the more solid player, but if he gets a good day, Bomber can make it.
B: Puzzle, Gumiho: This group seems pretty clear to me, Gumibear is such a nice, stylistic player and Puzzle is all-around solid and safe (and P seems to be doing pretty well recently).
C: Hero, Shine: Hero has only two match-ups to practice for (his stronger ones as well), so I'm certain. Shine is not as clear a choice to me, as Alive is overall the better and more experienced player, but I somehow have the hunch that Shine comes out ahead (Maru is overrated imho).
D: Creator, Supernova: The most easy group to predict, Creator seems to be on a streak and was always really talented, while Supernova seems to be over the slump he's been in. Yugiho, Killer, Vampire are certainly not near Code S level, and Happy has been on decline. So, easy choice here.
E: Life, Violet Here I'm pretty torn. It's clear to me that neither of the Terrans get out of the group, as both of them are not that strong in TvZ, and that matchup will be the decider in this group. Life is the stronger of the two Zerg, so he is set. Between Violet and Oz, my gut feeling says Violet, so I go for him, since Oz has shaky PvT.

Nice analysis, but remember that Ryung displayed vastly improved TvZ this season against DRG (against Leenock he was jetlagged and all).

I dont see how so many people can put Mana over 4 Code S quality players. Keen has been in Code S very many times. Bomber is always strong and showed it again at iem. Hyun is a fricking terrifying zerg to play against as we saw against Squirtle in the Fightclub and Jjaki is jjaki a gsl winner. Always underrated, but almost never underperforming. I dont give him a very large shot to get out of this group.

Group D is clearly the group of death. "why's that" you ask? Because it is fucking SuperNova in it, and SuperNova fucks bitches all night and smokes noobs erry day on the ladder and in the GSL. You know what SuperNova does? I don't either, but I know what he doesn't do: drop down to Code A.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
E: what im saying is supernova is gonna win his group so hard that literally every player thats not him in his group will be sent to code B because thats how bad the stompings will be
thats all im saying

I think I may have a crush on you.
On a different note, the Liquipedia link to Shine is wrong, it links to BW Shine, not Shine from SC2.TSL_Shine is the right link.

I'm new to GSL, do you have to buy the season pass to watch the up and down matches? or just the Code S/A tournament?
|
The up/downs always leave me shaking my head, brutally competitive.

I am afraid I cannot give you a definite answer but:
At least the last two Up and Downs were open for everyone on hq definition using the Gom player. It is easily downloaded from their site, and if I remember correctly you just have to register an account on gomtv.net, you just need a valid e-mail address to use it. Not having heard anything else, I would imagine that it is free to view this on any quality this time around as well, it seems Gom will use the U&D as a gateway of sorts.
Either way, if you catch it live then you can watch it free on standard definition (which is not great by any means, but better than nothing) like every Gom tournament (sans their first Arena of Legends venture) regardless. You could also shoot them an e-mail, they would know better than anyone here, unless I have missed a statement about it.

mana in a group with 3 terrans, favorable for him
and thorzain in an easy group
|
Mana is gonna get totally mangled
|
Foreigners Fighting! hope thorzain does really well

Every group is like a group of death, it shows how competitive the scene has got, when you could see about half the players in the up/downs being in code S.
Mana's group is especially tough though, 4 recent code S players, it probably would be the hardest group if E didn't also have 4 former code S players plus Life.
