Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

Liquid's positive results = Taeja + Hero.

I'm not saying anything about EG, just the part about liquid is wrong.

Thats why i said roster to roster. There would be no all killing sir.

Oh common, Taeja, Ret, Sheth, Hero are all better than any EG player.

fun fact, JYP won more GSTL games alone than the entire Liquid roster

Fun fact, Taeja won more games in the IPL TAC Finals that JPY did in the entire GSTL/IPL TAC combined.

Fun fact: Taeja is gettin PAID by liquid and he wouldnt have joined them if liquid didnt caugh up the dough. Same shit here.

He had a stable position at one of the then top teams, slayers, he left because it benefited his career to be able to go to foreign tournaments.

Wait, you mean....HE GOT PAID? NOOOOOOOOOOooooo......travel cost money, dawg

Yes, the Starcraft team Slayers paid one of their top terrans Taeja. Also, Team Liquid pays him. This is how the system works, teams pay players money to represent them.

Taeja wasn't really one of SlayerS top Terrans. MMA, Ganzi and Ryung were always considered better than him. I doubt he was getting paid honestly. He wasn't even living in the team house.

Both TLO and jinro have come within one series (and in both cases) one game away from code A which is a feat that very few non koreans can claim they've done. Jinro/TLO/DeathAngel/Macsed/Torch are the only foreigners that I can think of that have been in the finals of a code A qualifier since code A started. TLO also came close to being seeded into IEM from the Korean bracket (losing 2-3 to inori who eventually did qualify)

EDIT: Added Macsed to the list of code A qualifier finalist foreigners
EDIT2: Added Torch
EDIT3: Nvm Jinro was in one final

Idra and Huk for starters. Sure they play and win tournaments in their respective countries, but before that they were touted as the best players for their races. JYP was looking like he could win a Code S tournament but never improved to be able to. Same with Puma. Never improved. Players like lzgamer and machine have never placed high in any tournaments. Why is that teams like IM or Startale have young players who already dominating Code S and tournaments everywhere?

I don't want to join the bandwagon, but EG is definitely slumping players really hard. It's not because they are getting worse. It's more of because they are not getting any better.

Like Liquid'Tyler (even HuK) said, if you want to stay "dominant", you got to adapt and change your playstyle, due to the ever changing metagame. Relying on a certain mechanic or build order is not going to maintain your relevance in the pro-scene for long. As of now, HuK is still a micro intensive player without any new build orders, any significant improvement in his macro abilities, or a stronger idea of positioning and map controlling. Idra is still an macro monster who relies a lot on massing units (even his upgrade timings are below average). Also, he still makes a lot of costly mistakes such as poor engagements or bad unit control and gets tilted pretty easily. Puma still relies on a lot of abusive plays such as greedy CC's or cheesy all-ins. Puma had really scary executions. But by now, everyone knows how Puma plays and can react to his playstyle accordingly.

DeMuslim, JYP, and Thorzain were always considered to be high-tier players with good mechanics, but they were never "outstanding".

Everyone else sucks (in pro-gaming terms).

I guess the difference between Stephano and the other top players is very solid decision-making capabilities, even though a lot of avid zerg fans nitpick his slightly flawed mechanics. But I think EG is good for him but a heart-breaker for the foreign fans hoping for a dominant foreigner.

jyp never looked like he could win code s didnt even look like he could beat terran at all. Huk is the one true one at this point. And someone who has been on one team for 2 years counts as a slump because of eg? can u show me one other player other than mvp mc or nestea who has been consistent through that time? Also Puma had 6 top 3 finishes in tournaments after joining eg. And are we comparing eg a foreign team to other foreign teams, or are we comparing them to korean teams?

When you count that in almost a year its been done by 5 people yes I'd say that's impressive and a success. Not a large one mind you but they've all proved they're pretty damn good

I wouldn't say Idra fell off/disappeared. Joined EG, did fairly well, got into a bit of a slump, then broke out with IEM/Asus and then had a good showing at Orlando/IPL3, then now.

See ya, I think it's funny that you think it would be any different there.

Otalio with regards to those results lets look at other results from other countries while we're at it. Question: Do you honestly think Scarlett is the best player in Canada at the moment?

Take those results with a grain of salt.

They aren't as important as people make them out to be especially the Swedish ones with all the star power and you can make valid reasons as to why Naniwa isn't playing so well in that type of format after being in the GSL for the last while.

IMO Scarlett is, by far, the best player in Canada and has the potential to become the best in NA, many people will agree
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it

Evil Geniuses has a bad scouting record, but is backed by a solid financial strategy. They often jump the gun too soon, buying people after one good run (Puma winning NASL, JYP only good run at GSL), or they buy/keep people because of their marketing potential. Demuslim was just unproven talented player, but most importantly, he was the only good player in one of the biggest western market. Recruiting Demuslim made perfect sense from that point of view. Idra can play like shit, but he still is marketable as the best known north-american player.
