Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

Its a superstar life that no one can blame Stephano for choosing.

Stephano stated that he´s doing pro gaming for the money and only for a limited amount of time. As a member of EG, he can
probably earn the maximum amount of money he can earn as a professional gamer. If he joins EG, he would have made the smartest move he can make.

Also, to all those people who say he just going for the money and that his decision is wrong because EG is bad in your opinion. What would you do, if you know that you only do for another pro gaming for 1-3 years and somebody offers you a huge contract? Most people would accept the contract because it´s smart. It´s not an idealistic decision where you say, it´s EG, I won´t join them because they suck. No, most people choose the money because, after all you need the money for your future.(Like going to college after gaming, buying a house, ..., Whatever you want to do after pro gaming) After your gaming career, who cares on which team you were? You need the money because no one out there pays your bills, you need to do it and if you can´t you have a problem.

Do you consider yourself a smart person? If yes, how is it that you overlooked the fact that 1) they're competitors and motivated to win irrespective of money and 2) that the money motivation is very much still present once you join EG, because you can get a renewed contract and possibly an increase in salary? Let's hear you try to explain those factors away .

Not my post, but in general i think EG has a serious problem with their results, considering the sort of budget they're playing with. We should have at least a GSL/MLG runner-up from the last 6-9 months, or a major european tournament winner (No, Thorzain doesn't really count, since he was picked up after his DreamHack Open win) but EG hasn't really posted any results during late 2011 or 2012.

They've got the talent, but maybe they're not paying for results, rather for potential. Drop the players' salaries by a large margin, but give them incentives to post results via royalties. Say Puma wins MLG and he makes more money from this win than he would otherwise bring in for a whole year, or Idra getting into Code S and BAM! he's raking in the dollars. Those players who don't achieve success are still getting paid, but just enough to get by, considering they're still getting accomodations in the team house.

Im not too fond of eg's results either, but they are a business and need to please sponsors. It just so happens that the sc2 communty value personalities more than they do results, otherwise MVP would be the most popular player, but hes not... SO maybe people should stop looking at EG for having something wrong with them and instead focus on the community. In no other esport that I know of besides sc2 do people like destiny get huge stream numbers. SC2 scene loves drama and personalities and EG caters to that. Start blaming the community, not the most well-run team there is.

this is not specific to the sc2 scene. its pretty normal across all sports and entertainment. But sports stars are media trained and know how to build personas and such. People watch Destiny for entertainment and because they find him funny.

Oh common, Taeja, Ret, Sheth, Hero are all better than any EG player.

fun fact, JYP won more GSTL games alone than the entire Liquid roster

I dunno, in the cs scene which preceded the sc2 scene in both america and europe, bad players were laughed at and never taken seriously....ever. They are still running jokes to this day.

It will be good for EG's terrans and JYP to have a legitimate zerg to practice against. It will be good for Idra too, take pressure of him, lets him ease into the transition InControl has been going through for the last 2 years and become a caster/personality/coach/streamer. It will be great for Suppy, someone to pick up tips from too while he continues to rise higher and higher. [although if I were suppy I'd rather enjoy college but hey, diff strokes for different folks.]
Its kind of bad for Machine and the other less-than-successful or visible EG guys (lzgamer I guess) because they dont have the personality thing incontrol and idra will fall back onto.

And its good for stephano, he doesnt like to work that hard and he gets to live in a very nice house in Arizona or whatever. Instantly is the best player on the team. And lets face it, the personality he projects while playing fits with the EG brand. The only one better at appearing as an evil genius is idra.

It doesn't make sense to badmouth EG as they do a lot for the SC2 community, but it is very obvious that some, if not all the players on EG never returned to the potential they were showing before joining EG. Getting paid gives you a false sense of gratification with your performances so I wouldn't be surprised of Stephano starts slipping soon. He's probably closer to the end of his SC2 career anyways.

Stephano's practice schedule is a complete joke; he takes a week or two off after every major tournament and when he's traveling for tournaments (which lately is almost all of the time) he barely practices at all. Even in his recent trip to Korea, which was purportedly to practice hard for the upcoming MLG event, he played way more than usual for about three days (8+ hours) but then he started playing every other day and now hasn't played at all apparently in several days. Despite his general lack of practice, he is still at this moment, given DRG's recent collapse, curious's and symbol's inconsistency and life's lack of results (which will change soon), arguably the best zerg on the planet. This is all to say, it seems extremely unlikely that a move to EG will impact his level of play since he already practices so little as it is. He could practice solely only on the NA server and it probably would not affect his overall level of gameplay significantly. In fact, EG, because it wants Stephano to stream, will probably have a positive impact on his overall play since he'll be forced to stream more regularly (and thus practice more) than he does now. Also if his salary is higher than it is at present this will give him more freedom not to not enter a million online tournaments and perhaps go to Korea for an extended stay and a run at the GSL.

Stephano left Korea 3 days ago and came back in France yesterday ( see his twitter ), he will probably fly tomorrow towards MLG, so yeah, he will not have practice for nearly a week just before this MLG.

And about the EG curse, we'll see, Stephano stated several times that he wants to be the best player in the world since his victory in NASL3 and i want to believe him on that statement (not that he will be the best but that he will really try and stop being lazy).

It is sorta weird to see Stephano on EG or any other big team name for that reason. I think it is because on Millenium Stephano was the only player I knew about so I considered Millenium team Stephano. On EG its not team Stephano cuz the other players are all so well known. Just thought I'd throw out what I thought about it. Just hope he doesn't slump. After watching all of the hard work he was putting in on the Korean ladder I had high hopes and if he kept practicing like that I think he could really be at the tip top of SC2.
