To restore your original region: Use the region changer to switch to your original region. Exit, then delete your SC2/Updaters folder, C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment and C:\ProgramData\Battle.net folders. Run StarCraft II.exe and let it update. Your game should now work.
At this time I cannot figure out why this error is occurring when switching to non-home regions and thus do not recommend using this program any longer.
+ Show Spoiler [Old Post] +Figured I'd make a new thread for this to answer any questions. This is a simple region changer for 1.5.0 that automates the steps from this thread and launches SC2 for you. You still need a valid SC2 account on the region you selected for this to work. Currently works for NA (US English), EU (British English), KR (Korean), KR (Taiwanese) and SEA (Singaporean English). Latest version now allows you to choose which region to use assets (audio among other things) from. Eg, you can have Korean sounds on the NA or EU server, provided you have connected to Korea at least once to download the relevant data files. Requires .NET 3.5 (you likely have this if you use xsplit or any of my other programs). If you encounter problems such as invalid mod data while trying to watch replays, delete your StarCraft II/Updates folder and let the launcher re-download it. Some people report that this program causes you to be unable to play games after switching regions. It works fine for me however. Use at your own risk.Download: http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/R1CH/SC2_Region_Changer.zip

fucking awesome, you the man
|
Just wondering R1CH, this will require you to have already downloaded the patch data for the new region? or does it automate that as well (which would be great)?
|
Do you have to put this in the support folder thingy or can you run from anywhere?

I have a TW account but it wont let me log into the KR server. I'm guessing its safe to assume that KR doesnt allow that. bummer. :/

If you wait a bit my friend is making a switcher that works with all regions as opposed to just koKR, enGB and enUS.
edit: http://xplora.biz/XRelocalizer.zip works for all the versions.

Updated with support for Korea (TW) for those of you who use the Taiwanese client to connect to Korea.
|
Thanks for that addition ^^ I had the same problem for a while :S

Will we have to reinstall after every patch like the previous relocalizer or won't know until a new patch hits?

I was trying to see if I can switch the variable file to get English text and voice but it looks like you can only do voice. When I swap localeiddata= it says I don't have the correct package. It will however change your in game audio to English if you swap localeidassets to enUS. Has anyone found a way around this to get English text?

I think right now it is hard to keep English text, because I heard Blizzard made their MPQ's uneditable now.

I was testing it with xpaperclip last night and we found that it only works for Starter Edition accounts to get the English text as well as voice. You'll have to do with the korean/chinese text sadly, but it's better than nothing.

R1CH you are awesome! How can you code so fast?! :D
Lost the race, but still enjoyed it a lot! I am going to maintain mine and make mine prettier!
Thanks for racing with me!

I have installed EU+NA (on my ssd 120gb fills so much space) so I can remove NA edition and just connect there with this app?

Yes you only need one installation. This will download additional content for the region you select, it should still save some disk space though.

I don't have another account, but good job!

This is great! It is even easier to use than my last relocalizer! Thanks~

The file says to select the game directory. I select the directory on my D: drive (my SSD) and then it comes back up again asking for the same directory. I must be missing something.

This is awesome! Thanks for saving me from having to reinstall
Now if only there was a way to preserve language while changing regions, or even better Blizzard allows us to choose a language.
|
I'm normally on EU server and I'm new to this changing realm thing: do I need multiple SC2 licences for the respective realms or can I gain access to all the other realms based off of my EU-based SC2 licence? I logged into NA server using Region Changer.exe and once in, advertisements for upgrading the starter's edition appeared.
Cheers!
|
All SC2 accounts come with a starter edition license for EU and NA (maybe others?). If you don't have an account there, you'll be restricted to the starter edition. You still need a game license for each region to use the full game.

Is it possible to play with korean or chinese language on EU server? With your Region changer and lhr0909's relocalizer?
|
You can join any server and it grants you a starter licence on first join. Good for testing ping for free
|
I assume that this does not work/hasn't been tested for Mac?
Thank you anyway, this looks great!

I am completely new to this type of thing so I am going to need a little help... When I unpack the zip file and run the SC2 Region Changer.exe the box pops up where you chose a region. When I click on a region it brings me to a window that says Browse For Folder. What do I do here? do I just find my SC2 folder and use that?

This does not modify the SC2 files in any way that would promote hacking.

Good Job R1CH ! You are the man !
When I change europe from US or US from europe, it ask me to make each time to update to 1.5.0 and dl the 1,43 Gb, but after 2-3 secondes, I can click on play.
Is it better to wait for the download to finish, or can I directly click on play?
Thanks !

Absolutely amazing. Coming from using HydraLiskPlasma's relocalizer pre 1.5, which would take a couple minutes, this is indeed one click and done.

Will there be a feature to clean your install before a new patch so that you don't have to reinstall the game with each patch? Hydraliskplasma's program always had this for previous patches so I may wait for his update...

There are no MPQ modifications, but until there is a new patch we won't know how compatible this method is.

For those who might be getting errors or want more regions, try out my relocalizer on the other thread. Its the same as R1CH's but it supports more regions and I'm working closer with Tazerenix to improve the relocalizer.
It is also not currently possible to use audio or text from another locale.
Quick note tho, if you want to relocalize to sea, select enSG. It's 12:15 AM and I really haven't had any sleep the last two days.
If anyone knowledgeable wants to help me (us?) out, PM me and I'll give you the specifics, since I've already got an idea of how to bring mods like this and stc back.

If i attempt to switch to any region other than NA it tells me there was an internal service error.

Updated version now allows you to specify the asset file (for audio etc) along with the version. You must have previously launched the region from which you want the assets to be used. Example: To use Korean assets on an English install, you must launch the game at least once using the "Korea" button so the relevant files are downloaded.

How does the program handle replays? Like where do they go for each region, and is there a chance of accidentally overwriting archived and/or incoming replays depending on which region you play from?
Beyond that question, fantastic job, I've not tested it out, but very impressive nonetheless.

Replays save into your Accounts folder, which is attached to your Account ID, which is unique to the region you're playing on.

Great tool so far. But I have one request and a question.
- Could you add all localizations?
- Is there a chance that you will add support to change the editor's gateway, too?
It is possible to change that via a registry entry that needs to be added/modified. Here is the ".reg" file I'm currently using to change the region. + Show Spoiler +Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II Editor\Preferences] "BattleNetHost"="eu.logon.battle.net" That would change the gateway to Europe. North America would use "us.logon.battle.net". With that addition your tool could be used by mapmakers to publish their maps to different regions more easily (if they have an account in that region).
For more laziness, you could also add support to change the mail and the name to that registry path (for the editor only, the default login doesn't seem to have those saved as registry entries). + Show Spoiler +"BattleNetCharacterProfile"="name#friendkey" "BattleNetAccount"="email"
At least I would be happy, if I could use one tool to change everything related to the region. It's not a must to add this as the program is designed for default players, but a few mapmakers might welcome this.

Do I have to do this every time I restart the game? Because I had to the first time.

Thanks for providing this tool! I have both the NA and KR clients installed, but couldn't use KR after 1.5 launched. After using this tool for the first time, it loads just fine; no error about having a language pack installed.
My question: This is going to sound incredibly trivial, but could you change the actual desktop icon to something cooler? It's totally cosmetic, but it bothers me =D
Again, great tool; thanks for providing it!

Most common cause of this is the Blizzard Agent has cached incorrect data for the region. Easiest way to fix is to get rid of (delete or rename just in case) the agent.db file found at c:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\agent.db (on Win7) or c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Battle.net\Agent\agent.db (WinXP). The folder may be hidden so either show hidden files or just enter the folder path in the address bar in Explorer.

Wait Global Play or use Starter Edition. Any of these many relocalizers don't give you a free account on server. It kist changes language and region of your game client
|
i believe this is broken with the 1.5.1 patch?
it says an unexpected file management error has occurred. please try again T__T
|
EDIT: The update does seem to interfere with the relocalization process. It works fine on one of my computers but constantly crashes the other. I'll wait for people to dig deeper into it before I update my program (if at all).
|
First great job! Second with 1.5.1 it is not working for my Korean account. Sorry but I don't can't read the error.
I cant seem to play on NA now. I may go crazy. Please tell me how I can fix this. When I select sc2(na) it loads my Taiwan game.
|
any word on if this will get fixed for patch 1.5.1? Whenever I try to change regions it says 'An unexpected file management error has occured. Please try again' and I can't get it to laod the EU version at all. Also after I try to load the EU client and get that error, I can't log back onto the NA version either. No error comes up, just the patch thing comes up but the play button doesn't light up..
|
Seems to be compatible with 1.5.1 now that all regions are up to date. If you encounter problems, delete your SC2/Updates folder to allow everything to be re-downloaded.

There aren't any meaningful changes in either file as a result of the patch, so the process should work the same.

On August 13 2012 09:14 Troxle wrote: Does this work for changin' the client's text or is it explicitly for audio purposes?
Using this tool to utilize Korean assets and playing on EU gives me Korean voices/sounds + English text. I think text will depend on which realm you use.
|
Im a bit afraid to install this.
Will a reinstall or a format of the harddrive eliminate all problems? Just in case it gets f'd up.
My main concerns are if it will be possible to change back to english text and voice after you have changed to korean voice or if i will just have to stick with korean voice forever.
And if the game starts crashing because it all failed will it then be fixed by as i said earlier eihter a reinstall or a format of the harddrive?

is there any way to get the Taiwan update info without using the sc2 streamer? Its goin at like 2kbps for me......

Holy shit this works. Thanks so much my life is much better now.

NVM I figured it out! THANKS R1CH!

Okay well I hate to double post, but I got it to work last night. Although when I turned on my computer this morning to play SC2, my audio reverted back to English so I'm guessing I went wrong somewhere. Any ideas?

I cant play sc2.

I have the same problem as Dreamseller -- When I try to Access Taiwan and EU I get the same screen. Is there a fix for this?
Atleast US works, or else I might be in trouble for WCG qualifiers

Is there a way to change the file path of my sc2.exe for sc2 region changer? I realized that I didnt pick the right folder so now when I click Europe or KW it gives me the error : an unexpected file management error has occured but when I play on NA its fine. I deleted sc2 region and redownloaded it but it remembered the file path
|
same problem here ..must be 1.52
|
Like others here I'm getting the exact same error message as Dreamseller since patch 1.5.2 hit on the eu server. The na server also stopped working for me though and is always showing me that I am offline. Does anyone know how to fix logging in the na server at least?

no update yet?

care to give us a status update on this r1ch? :<

An update would be very much appreciated. Hopefully something gets figured out quickly (just bought my TW account >.<)

To fix the issues I removed starcraft 2 completely from my computer, including the hidden files and folders, then upon reinstalling was able to run the game fine.

Make sure you patch using your original region. When attempting to play make sure you are playing on a patched region too. Deleting the SC2/Updates folder might also help.
|
Ah thank you r1ch. i think KR hasn't been patched yet, because i can play on EU now so i'll just patiently wait!
btw, are there any plans to incorporate German or Taiwanese into the language selections? o:

Now when I play on any server I am automatically booted from the game and given a Tie. Is anyone else having issues with this due to the program? I'm not sure what else it could be, as I have this problem on every server today.

Can someone explain to me how to use two regions? I just bought an EU copy, do I dl/install the EU copy and then use this program to switch back and forth or what? Sorry for my ignorance.

you just load up the relocaliser and select EU, sc2 will then download any data it needs by itself just like patching in your home region

Ya same i get a tie randomly

Yeah getting ties ever since I loaded up my us one then back to eu...

I uninstalled, deleted all the hidden folders, and reinstalled. Appears that I can play again (only tried in custom game though, couldn't even properly enter customs before).

This goes for not just my main account, but other accounts including those on other servers (I use R1CH's scene region changer). I tried playing a custom game and I can join the lobby, and play the game fine, but for some reason I just can't enter a ladder game.

Yeah, this is the only way I was able to fix it. I'm hoping one of the other relocalizers works better. This one was so good while it lasted too! Reinstalling is a lot faster than before though now that they have the streaming installer.

I can confirm reinstalling SC2 removes the problem. Shame this program is no longer useful, I enjoyed it.

Yeah me and a friend of mine are getting this as well where we are getting kicked on the load screen, pretty bad.

How did people manage to uninstall multiple copies of SC2 in order to reinstall? After I uninstall the first time it removes the option to uninstall.
|
i cant understand why Blizz is against this kind of program... in first place they should have provide us with something llike this, it was obvious that many ppl would buy different copies to play in other servers.. they should focus in banning all the hackers and leave us alone... damn im so angry ><
|
Ok, so if uninstalling and reinstalling works that's great. However, how do we go about changing regions after installing the game again
|
I think if you can't change the reigon you're going to have to install multiple clients. Have you tried deleting your sc2/updates folder? Not sure what else you can do other than running the updater again and seeing if it works after.
|
This is really weird bug. Today when i first time tried to play on EU this bug happened to me and i couldnt play a single game. Then i tried on Korean servers and i was able to play many games without any problems. Then i tried to play on NA servers but the same thing happened as on EU servers... so i went back to Korean servers and i was able to play only 1 game then the bug started to occur on KR server aswell... now i cant play on any region...
It's really weird how this bug suddenly started to occur even though there havent been any patch updates lately.
What is the easiest way to change regions now ?
|

I used to have multiple clients (still do actually). When blizzard released patch 1.5 they retardedly decided to make it so that you can't do that anymore.
Whenever I launched my usual korean server and tried to logon it said you needed the language back, so I could logon to NA like normal but couldn't use the other client.
So I decided to do this method as I saw no other and then yesterday blizzard released a small tools update patch and have had this tie error ever since :/.
|
So I reinstalled the game and it's working again.. Tried installing a second client but it just takes me to the patch screen and says its up to date? Anyone know what to do?
|
Noooo! My korean sounds are gone!
|
Uninstalled and reinstalled. I played one ladder game and everything was fine. Now it's doing the same thing that it was before with disconnecting at the start of each game and giving me ties.
Edit: May have just been my opponent who was the one that disconnected and caused the tie. Not sure though. Played a ladder game after the tie and worked fine again. Guess it was just coincidence.
|
It seems like the ladder glitchiness is coincidental then?
|
So far I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, then used the SC2 Region Changer and it works fine on NA. So far so good. Going to download EU whilst I sleep and see if it works as intended in the morning.
|
This fucked up my game, I switched back to the US servers and now whenever I start up a multiplayer game, it loads up, and then immediately kicks me out to the main menu??? how do I fix this???
edit: nvm looks like the only way is reinstalling, just as I thought... ughhhhhhhh
|
I switched to EU and back to NA and was able to create games on both servers without a problem. I would try deleting the Updates folder to be sure you have the latest patch files.
|
FYI R1CH, when my buddy and I were having problems yesterday, we could create games with AI, but as soon as we wanted to connect with another player, we had issues.

Cannot connect to ladder games on Korea or SEA with or without Region Switcher ATM.

When I relocalized to EU it would just fail each time during loading.
Installing fresh copies of both NA/EU seems to have resolved the issue.
I don't think it was coincidental though, since it always happened on EU after the patch, but it seemed to continue to work fine on NA.

Please tell me there is a way to fix this issue without having to redownload both clients. I don't even have the bandwith to afford it at the moment.

"Eg, you can have Korean sounds on the NA or EU server, provided you have connected to Korea at least once to download the relevant data files."
So, what exactly does this mean? I want korean sounds on the NA server, but does that mean I have to have an account on the Korean server, connect to the Korean server, and then go back and use the localizer?

It definitely causes problems on 1.5.2. Removing the Updates folder or variables.txt doesn't help at all, can't get into any ladder games. Tried connecting to the Korean server to patch, that didn't help either. Reinstalling SC2 now
|
I do not have this issue and do not know what causes it, so this is just speculation.
The recent Tools update does not seem to have changed any of the files in the StarCraft II program folder, but has introduced a new version of the Battle.net Agent. The agent is notorious for over-eagerly caching and getting out of sync. I don't think it is the issue, but something you could try is deleting the Battle.net and Blizzard Entertainment folders in C:\ProgramData (Win7) or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (XP).
Again, I do not think this is a solution because as far as I can tell, the Agent process is only concerned with game loading and isn't even running when games are being played, but since nothing else has changed, perhaps it's worth a shot.

So, during the install of EU client, it is messed up again. Custom games work perfect. Any ladder game or arcade game is now a tie. Wish blizz would just impliment region switching themselves >.<
|
any updates with this guys? I'm watching a Team league tournament being played in aus right now, thats beign ruined by these problems. I've been looking everywhere for answers for them but at this stage theres ALOT of conflicting infor out there, the only thing agreed on is that the relocalizer is involved.
Benji's mid stream and halfway through a semi final match.
|
Can I get some clear, reproducible steps of what I have to do? Let's assume I start with no SC2 downloaded at all. I've tried all three and I just can't get them to work, and when I check the threads I don't see what I am doing wrong or what I have to do in order to get this to work (I've tried using this one, I get the Tie error, but I don't get the Korean voices as I selected). My problem is not that I get the tie error (which I do, but it doesn't concern me at this very moment), but rather that I can't get the language to work. I want KR language on NA server.
Thanks so much...
|
I really would like to know how to get on the european client if anyone has figured out a workaround. I want to play in the EU playhem dailies but can't .
|
For those of you getting the loading screen error. Go C:/ProgramData and move the Battle.NET folder out, I wont tell you to delete it in case you think I'm trolling, it'll force a new download of BNET only not the entire client, it should work fine for you then (if you launch from the game folder, not region changer).

i had the tie problem so i did this:
go to: Navigate to C:\ProgramData* (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data* in Windows XP). Delete the Battle.net folder. this part is from http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/diablo-iii-uninstall-instructions d3/sc2... same thing here
open sc2 from the sc2.exe (no switcher)
it will download the patch again, like 20 mb i think
play ladder
i just worked for me for NA... dont wanna try the switcher yet TT, at least i can play on NA for now

You are on NA server. You want Korean sound, so read next steps:
1) Use Relocalizer. Change game server to Korean.
2) Launch your SC2. Instead old english launcher you will see Korean symbols and it will download 1.3 GB of Korean localization
3) When it finishes download, you can launch it, and go to Korean server as STARTER EDITION, if you don't have account on Korean server. But if you want change back to your server, close launcher.
4) Launch relocalizer. Change Server and Tetx language back to your old, that was before. But now you can use normally Korean voice pack.
Quesitons?

No, the result is the same after deleting the cache. All ladder and custom games immediately quit back to the menu screen once loading is complete.

Ok so here's how I fixed my problem guys. I removed this program as the first step.
I then used the relocazer and now the problem is gone for me. This solution worked for a friend of mine who told me and worked for me to so all fixed here. Would try that method, if that doesn't work then I guess you may have to reinstall t-t.

Deleting C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\ and running the reloc as europe (which was default) fixes this for me, swapping to NA recreates the problem.

I've been using it to play TW, I haven't seen any problems so far although I have only played a couple placement matches, I haven't actually got placed yet.
I've also been able to play EU ladder while using the localizer.

Wait, are you THE SilSol? ignite heal top lane? As far as we know switching reigons is creating issues with getting a tie every game, it's suggested that instead of switching regions, you install both the NA and EU clients in a parallel fashion (e.g. Program files (x86)/StarCraft (eu), and Program file (x86)/StarCraftr (us)). .

I don't know if this helps or not, but when I play on SEA (the bug occurs here, but not in KR/TW for me, oddly enough), the "General Chat" or "Looking for Team" buttons are grayed out. When I hover over them, it gives me an error message stating that the language doesn't match the version that it uses. When I check my variables.txt, the localeidassets & data are both set to enSG, so it should match.

DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM it will fuck up your SC and make you reinstall every region :|
just follow my advice on the previous page, its just as fast (faster) and you dont have to use any illegal third party shady programs.

Having to reinstall because of this program

You don't have to reinstall SC2 people! Just delete the bnet folder in ProgramData and you'll be fine!

I just did this and it didn't help anything. I guess I will just re install.. :\
Edit: I reinstalled my NA client of SC2 and then tired to install my EU client and I can't run my EU client. I get the error saying "you have to have the language pack" or whatever. I don't know how to get to my EU account now.

Hello everyone.
I would like to know if there is a way to change the region bith without third party programs? because i have my NA account but my father bought me a Starcraft 2 from Italy so it must be Europe region.
I saw some time ago in Dragon's stream that he did a little change with a notepad somewhere and he changed regions.

I have my home region as SEA and have been consistently laddering on all of SEA/NA/KR(Taiwan) using the original relocalizer (Pre-1.5.0 Patch) and the original one posted here.
I am wondering if there is currently a third party program in production/available that can successfully bypass this only-tie situation that happens when switching regions?
I have no issue with returning to my home region, more desiring to practice against a broad spectrum of opponents.
Thanks in advance.

being able to choose my language is my favorite part. Will actually know when a nuke is launching or when I'm supply blocked now haha

Hi! I just downloaded this program, and added the Korean assets to my game, but now, when I try to join a quick match game, it starts to load, and about halfway there, it brings me back to the lobby, any ideas why the game does that?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! Don't use this method anymore. Delete BattleNet folder from your ProgramData folder. That should fix it.

Hi! yeah I've noticed that after posting this comment, I guess there is no other possible way of changing the region for the language packs that actually doesn't break your game? hahaha
