That's an interesting point that made me think, i guess i could be considered a white knight fanboy for sure. Still i feel that other players with questionable behaviour are treated differently by the community somehow You're a NaNiwa fan, so of course you'll see it that way. Just like a Stephano, Day[9], or Idra fan will say that they get an unreasonable amount of hate.
I mean, the instant responses to my post kind of make my point. One tries to make NaNiwa the best (even at being hated) by bringing up extreme posts that can be found in almost every thread about a certain player, another attacks me saying that because I brought up other situations with the same content that I condone and support extreme hate on any and all players, and you respond to me... granted you were more tame than the other two and weren't white knighting

Someone wrote that he was going to get a gun and shoot himself earlier. Have you seen that comment made towards HuK or Stephano or anyone else for that matter? I sure havent Spades, lastshadow, and Idra to name a few... Your attempt to make a point by taking the most extreme post in the thread seems to have just backfired, eh? Not really. "the same amount of hate as other pros" and you name idra lol. lastshadow is hardly a pro and I dont even know who Spades is. More to the point, its easy doing a lil name-dropping.
You asked me if I could name anyone that has gotten that kind of response from a hater (shooting himself). I named three off the top of my head. Name dropping had nothing to do with it, whether they are top pros or not had nothing to do with it. You said "or anyone esle for that matter?" So I named "Anyone Else"
Also, are you really trying to make NaNiwa the best at "being hated" right now? Seriously? Do you realize the kind of argument you are trying to make here and how silly it is?

Oh wow...missed this!! Definitely wondering where Naniwa will end up after this, especially after the results he put up in GSL. There were definitely some rumors about him not being able to get along well with some of the others, but I hope he gets picked up by a good team nonetheless!

Yes it's funny sinds you are doing excactly the same just here. And thus this thread keeps filling. Including my useful reply.

I hope he goes to some really good team now! that he deserves and needs!

Hard to guess which team he will join.
EG is unlikely as Idra has in public said on several occasions that he hates Naniwa and Incontrol seems back Idra up there. Thus adding Naniwa would probably be bad for team moral in EG.
Teamliquid, I doubt so. Naniwa personality does not match that of other TL players very well.
Mouzsports is a possiblity, I think Mouzsport would like to have Naniwa but I am not sure that Naniwa would like to join them. They are not known for being a team with a lot of cash and I am not sure why Naniwa otherwise would switch from Quantic to Mouzsport. There roster is quite small so from a training perspective it would be a big decline from Quantic/ST training partners he had access to before.
If you remove these teams and the other he has been in and left before (and assume that he wont go back to these teams) are there really not that many options left. The most logical assumption would have been ST but Naniwas tweet pretty much closed that door.
So.. my guess is another Korean team but it is really hard to say. SK/IM?
Another option is that Naniwa "rage" quited from Quantic without a clear backup plan. I really hope not but with Naniwa is it hard to be sure. Naniwas way of thinking is different from most of us, on both good and bad ^^
|
To be fair, Idra definitely hated Huk. If incontrol backed him up though, that might be a different story.
I feel like Mouzsports wouldn't be too big of a change from Quantic but yeah.
Actually it would be pretty cool if Empire picked him up ^^

jesus, all these posts saying naniwa has a "tough personality" or is "misunderstood"...lets call spade a space, the guy is unprofessional, selfish, and completely disrespectful towards teams, tournament organizers and opponents. these are not just momentary lapses in judgment; hes got a lengthy and well documented history of such behaviour dating back to the wc3 days. regardless of how he performed in the recent GSL the guy is just plain unlikeable outside of sweden and a marketing nightmare.
lol@ the swedes coming out to blindly defend him though, gotta love it, the swedish population is like 5% of TL but 50% of the posts in naniwa threads.

Replacing Idra WITH Naniwa would be huge, then picking up Stephano in the fall to fill the Zerg.

Join XMG together with SeXLorD and rule the (sc2) world!
|
please stop with the supermarket jokes. it was funny when morrow trolled everyone, but this jumping on board isnt funny, and is making the original look way worse
|
I hope he joins SK with MC or any korean team. Just hope it wont be EG, that would never be a good match.
Nani is the sole reason I still follow the SC2 scene, when he is out of a tournament, it kind of dies for me. Wish you good luck Nani!

I think he is burning way to many bridges. Soon he will not have a team to call home. I like watching him play but I hate the stuff he pulls.

Well the swedish only stream of WCS had +6k viewers just 2-3 days ago so I think we might be more then 5%, but yeah many none swedish people find it hard to accept Naniwas personality.
I respect a person that completely dedicates himself towards his goal without taking other aspects into account. I dunno if this is connected to being Swedish but I can relate myself to Naniwa, more so then for instance Sase.
Although I understand that people find Naniwa odd, I do not have much empathy for people that keep whining about Naniwas "culturally inappropriate" behavior. Some people are not very social, that includes Naniwa, that means he does stuff that seems odd to most people. Cause he is dedicated to be the best in the world at what he does and other things are secondary. This seems to be really hard for people to accept.
I even think it is entertaining to have a personality like Naniwa in SC2. Would be pretty boring if everyone was like TLO or Sheet imo.

Oh great, now he's going to be bought out by EG and become another HuK.

if it's for korean team, props to him.
if it's for another foreign team, i really feel bad for naniwa, considering how they handled the probe-rush incident and supported him when he almost quit pro-gaming
|
It's fortunate for Naniwa that he is good enough to still be desirable despite his sometimes, shall we say, abrasive personality.

I think what most people are trying to say is if you weren't Swedish, you'd probably not be defending him. It's not about how he acts, its about what he represents. Sweden. People need to look past where they are from and base their opinion on what they know. :D
