With a little sadness involved we, at Team Acer, can today announce the departure of Christoph "Mondragon" Semke from the position of SC2 manager at our organisation. This BW legend can no longer commit time to managing our team, needing to focus his time and efforts onto the completion of his studies. We wish him good luck as he completes his Masters degree.
Mondragon's statement about leaving:
"Since I'm about to finish my masters degree I'm lacking time to keep managing for Team Acer right now. That's the main reason why I'm not renewing my contract: to focus on the end of my studies. I want to thank Josh and Uwe for giving me the possibility of being part of the project. Thanks to everyone in Team Acer that helped to develop Team Acer. Thanks to all my SC2 members for having such a great and successful time, I'll be watching you guys and Team Acer and hope that you can continue your development. Best of luck everyone, thanks for the great time and hopefully we can meet again on some other occasion. Take care
The full post regarding his departure can be read, and wishes of good luck left, at Team Acer.
For those who werent around for TSL3, Mondragon played a protoss named ZeeRax who opened FFE stargate robotics, and mondragon just made a gazillion roaches while completely ignoring ZeerRax's airforce and just rolled over ZeeRax with roaches.
Mondragon, leader of the famous ToT clan, one of the true legends of foreign Broodwar alongside greats like Testie, Draco or Sen. Too bad he never really picked up SC2 except for his short stint in TSL3.
It's always sad to see a legend like him go. Whether or not he will come back to the scene in any position after he finishes his studies, I wish him all the best for the future.
One of my favorite BW player with Draco. I'll always regret not seeing him compete in korea, this guy was soooo talented ! Goodbye and good luck with your real life stuff Thanks for the many hours of entertainment you gave us.
Clearly you weren't around when Mondragon faced Cruncher in TSL3. Twas awesome =)
it was vs zeerax, not cruncher, although cruncher used the same opener vs IdrA and won
It was definitely versus Cruncher. Cruncher went Voidrays and Mondragon just massed roaches and walked into his base and won. Unfortunately Mondragon would go on to lose to Cruncher 1-2.
Writing this news was sad for me. When I wrote it, I thought about what I would like to read as his departure from the game. This is truly one of the saddest moments in my life when it comes to gaming. I hope that he does return one day and that he does show his true skills once again. Good luck Mondragon in what ever you do. <3

No it was in the ro32 against zeerax. He knew that zeerax's PvZ was very air-oriented (more than most protosses at that time) and just killed him with roaches.
I don't remember his games against cruncher except that he went mutas on metalopolis. I'm sure try didn't have the same mass roach action that his ro32 series had.

Kid? Really? Don't do that (especially as a first post), Mondi is one of the greatest BW foreigners of all time, plus he's probably older than you. He's the guy who lead ToT (BW clan where players like Ret and HayprO grew into monsters). -_-
I think it was Business or Economy if I recall correctly, might be wrong.

Lol, i remember one game, idk what it was, but he saw that Oponnent was massing Void rays, ( it was late game ) and he still maxed on roaches instead on hydras, or infestors, lol :D
Just want to say thx to mondragon for all the awsome games hes shown us during the years. He was truly someone to respect and learn from during the BW days. Im sure Ill never forget this ID.
Been a fan since I got into competitive BW. Thanks for the great games and the good manner you've shown over the years, good luck with your studies. Here's to hoping you'll come back someday.
In other news I hear that he will fly anyone who's ever been associated with ToT over to germany for when he graduates so that he can share his plans for world domination. I claim Sweden.
While sad, I'm not surprised considering the circumstances. He's done well to manage a team while also doing some really heavy studies. Understandable that he didn't have much time to play the actual game.
I say, get that masters degree, come back to SC2 and crush faces. :D
Mondragon has always been one of my favourite players. I still remember watching his post TSL1 ladder replay pack featuring an unimaginable amount of ling runbys vs toss. I wish him luck in the future, and I hope he gets back into the scene after he finishes his degree.
The person i respected the most in esport. Good luck with whatever you do in life, but i'm sure if you do it with the same passion that i saw in some BW games a few years ago, i see a bright future for you no matter what you choose to do.
Hey, hes never said that hes done with esports. For now he has no time to play, and its been this way for quite some time, but I sincerely hope that he will be back stronger than ever to show you what hes made of .

Sounds good
Sooooo... it would appear that there is a lack of zergs in Team Acer once again, who will you pick up this time? :D
Reminds me of ToT:BW... Hey we need a new active player. And here is our new zerg player
The guy that makes me proud to be german. Mondragon hwaiting ! Ich wünsch dir alles gute viel Glück beim Studium und vielleicht sehn wir dich ja doch nochmal bei irgendwelchen esports events.

That's a bit of overstatement to say that he was the best BW player. There were some players of his caliber like Grrr, Elky, Fisheye, Blackman, Draco, Sen to mention a few. Nevertheless, whenever he was active he was unbelievably good, this guy is definitely a legend.
Ugh, freaking school. Think of your fans mondragon, drop out!!! Anyone can get a masters degree, how many people can be a starcraft master?!?! You're throwing your life away!
Hope he's not gone for good, but I'm glad that Acer has put up some really impressive performances lately before his departure. They look like they could become a powerhouse team, and he should be really proud to have helped build that!
Watching Mondragon and Nony fight their way to the finals of TSL2 when neither of them were really considered favorites anymore was one of my favorite BW memories. You can never count a true champion out!
From Liquidpedia's registered Foreigner leagues, Mondragon has no less than 15 top3 placements, making him the most winning and most consistent player in the BW foreigner scene
Have known Mondi from Obs games (can't remember if early Broodwar or still vanilla Sc)- the rumor was "this is some 12 year old kid, destroying big names left and right" (actually he probably was 13 at the time). He always was one of those mindboggling supertalents that hardly seemed to train (Fisheye, Mondi, lately Stephano come to my mind) and still be better than 99% of the competition. So jelly ~~ . Became a fan of his ZvP, when only he (and Kiwi) regularly countered the early +1/0 Zeals with 0/+1 ups of their own. I had always wondered why no zergs did that. He continued to have his very own style, just like I imagined "perfect" zerg play (and never could pull off myself because I sux). Sad to see him leave the scene (?) and I hope he continues to do well and maybe one day comes back to baffle us again.
Mondragon, you were one of the most manner players ever in BW. Respect. I doubt you will read this thread, but if you do, thank you for such amazing games. Never forget ling runbys guys. Keep punishing foreign tosses for having bad FFEs in BW :D
Why does this thread title makes it seem like the guy died or something.. I mean he's just concentrating on his studies at the moment. Nothing dramatic.
