Finally, fucking hell yes, he will now become top 3 PvT in the world Will be interested to see how his PvZ and PvP come along, should be so good for his results in the future, congrats!
Guess he got a Code S seed right? I think he's pretty out of his depth in Code S, he'll have to work very, very hard between now and then if he doesn't want to be another Thorzain, Sase, Idra or Sen.
fuck yeah I was hoping for this ever since I saw him become the runner up in dreamhack 2010 (or something).. I think he has so much potential.. Lets hope he can prove me right in Korea!

Although I do agree with most of what you're saying, Thorzain by no means had a disappointing showing in code S. In fact he just might be headed back there as he has JYPvT followed by a TvT. He had what one day or so to prepare (as he had been traveling) and he still went 3rd in his group

ThorZain, NaNiWa, Stephano, MaNa in Korea soon, should be the best chance for more foreigners in Code S.

For every good player in America there's like 50 on Europe... and it has been like that for a while. I dont know why.
White Ra commented on this before. There are many more young players in Europe, and this is due to the amount of teams we have that are able to support them.
On July 11 2012 06:51 McFeser wrote: Oh, so when do we start calling him the best foreigner?
When he gets repeat Ro8 in GSL Code S.
But this is super exciting. I was afraid that mouz was not going to be doing well since ThorZaIN left, but with Mana being as much of a boss as he is, this is super exciting!
This guy announces hes going full time pro and about month later he is already planning to head to Korea. I can definitely respect the fact that he goes big the moment he commits. Worst that can happen is he'll go back home with new game sense and proper practice routine from this.
Meh, 2 months in Korea doesn't really do anything for you. If you want to go to Korea to improve you really have to commit yourself and stay for a long period of time.
MaNa is a very tallented player, but at the same time he has a lot of mental problems (having medicore results, then suddenly going into GOD MODE and so on...)
I hope that this practice won't be only ladder, but also sessions with coaches and learning to have the perfect mindset.

I think it also has to do with how many small but competitive tournaments you have all the time. The only thing we have in NA that's comparable is the CSL and Playhem (I think we haveplayhem?) I think, which is fantastic and a great start but it's nothing compared to the tournament experience you get having weekly cups and whatnot over there.
NO MANA !! ( I dont know if only I got this feeling.. but there is some strange trend , people go to kr.. and they burn there , and play worste then before KR trip.. :/ . I hope this dont happend to Mana

Oh yeah I forgot how much worse QXC, thorzain, naniwa, huk, sase and fenix got in Korea.
Awesome, I'd love to see what Mana could do with an extended period of time in Korea, always thought he was damn good. 2-3 months doesn't really seem to be helping people too much. Hopefully it will help out. GL

I would assume that if he secures a spot in code S he wouldn't leave. I can't imagine anyone leaving code S (besides idra)

up and down (probably into code a as i honestly dont think hes at code s level), and hopefully he doesnt go 0-2 in code a and drop out like most foreigners.

Generally speaking he is wrong and most ppl who have been to Korea got a lot better - but in one case I tend to agree with him, and that makes me especially sad because I have mad love for this guy since his Wc3 days. I am talking about ToD and hope he will get a better mindset laddering/training in Europe which seems quite crucial in his case.

What foreigner did that happen to? lol
Jinro , Huk ? They are burn now. Idra in some time was playing better before Kr trip.. , same for Naniwa. Morrow ? He was or is in KR also yes?. ToD is another example..
Some write fenix.. he is in good shape now ? lol.. Where are the results of players that was in KR ? , all of them was wining more before they go to KR.

KR is not for everyone.
The only player i have seen gotten worst was Select. Other than that everyone else has performed better than before. Huk won two championships of living in Korea. Jinro became super famous because of his play IN Korea. Fenix just left korea and he has been laying low not trying to show off his skills so we dont know about him.
Idra success in early SCII was because of all his TRAINING in Korea!!
Naniwa has made GSL RO8 i dont think this is worst than before because he hasnt really been going to other tourneys.

You need X points in masters, and you have to pay afaik. Other than that, no special conditions like being a pro are required.

I think you need to rethink your ppl doing worst.
Sure Jinro is famous but he is not that good like in begining of SC2 same for TLO and IDRA they are stars from early Sc2 days. IDRA was got success in early days , because he plays from begining of beta , he was way ahead compered when other players starts play more sc2 .
Naniwa GSL is nothing special.. its just oportunity , he was wining vs koreans before he goes to KR , and in GSL plays the same players that Naniwa already beat in other tournaments , before going to KR.
Im happy for Mana really , but like i write Kr is not for everyone.

ToD's always been reasonably good but not enough to qualify for Code A or win a foreign tournament, yet anyways. I'd put him in the same category as Ret.

Im kind agree here , there was disscusion about it at HSC V stream. Ret is one of these players that always play good , but he dont win anything big. , i dont know its mindset.. or what . EmpireKas is another example in that category.. he is superb player , but he is not wining anything big..
Congrats and good luck! With Naniwa certain to be Code S in season 4, and Thorzain already in the Up and Downs, the foreign representation in the GSL is looking to slowly get better.

You're comparing someone who barely didn't make it out with 3 people who didn't win a set (and maybe a game I dont remember). There's a big difference between idra/sen (its not fair to even include sase as he was in code A) and their performances and thorzains

Did a European Protoss player who lives in Korea kill your puppy or something?
He's just that kind of poster whos negativity stands out in a thread, I don't think it's directed at any group in specific. I haven't looked up his post history or anything but his name keeps popping up in threads I'm reading where he seem to enjoy playing the antagonist.
Hm, I wonder - he will come on 10th of August, but the current GSL finishes on 27th of July. And he's supposed to play in up/down matches, which usually are the first to be played during the season. So maybe the next season will start with a delay of 1-2 weeks? Anyway, I hoped that he'll get seeded into code S. I think it's really hard to come from outside and start winning without any period of adaptation... :/
his play hasnt been very convincing.. at least what ive seen from dreamhack and homestory. i like him a lot though and i hope he reaches the skill to be called the best foreign protoss.

Was Sase ever directly seeded? Iirc, he only went to code A, and dropped out. (Imo he could easily be in code A nowadays anyway not that it matters)
I think Mana will be doing up downs, not a direct code S seed. But who knows.

Although I do agree with most of what you're saying, Thorzain by no means had a disappointing showing in code S. In fact he just might be headed back there as he has JYPvT followed by a TvT. He had what one day or so to prepare (as he had been traveling) and he still went 3rd in his group
Yeah Thorzain beat gumiho( a strong opponent) he's just un-lucky he had Squirtle in his group, and Squirtle lost to Keen(he would have faced him instead of Squirtle twice)
Mana's now going to develop his sc2 talent and come back to the world scene. Korea is like stimpack to players. Good luck, have fun, and come back as awesome as ever!

Naniwa didnt exactly have a great start in the GSL. But look at him now.

Yup took naniwa 3 tries I think? He got a code A seed, got dominated. Got another code A seed, got dominated (both code A seeds from MLG iirc). Then he got a code S seed and well hasn't fallen yet.

Agreed. MaNa will do just fine if he puts in the time and dedication like Nani has. I'm really psyched to see MaNa at his full potential now that school is done and is going to Korea.
Hurray Mana! Hope he adapts well and stays longer than 2 months, he will need lots of help if he only has 2 months because he'll need to adapt to the new setting!
I hope the GOM house is only temporary, as everyone says the GOM house is terrible for training. He's not there to party, so hopefully Mouz gets something worked out.
Awesome news. To be honest, out of all foreigners to ever go to Korea, Mana has arguably achieved the highest level of play before even setting his foot there (perhaps with the exception of IdrA and Jinro when you consider the state of the rest of the scene back then, dunno about Stephano as he hasn't cared for GSL yet). As soon as Mana adjusts and get some practice partners (which will surely take a while, it did for Naniwa) I expect great things from him. Hell, he's proven that he can beat pretty much anyone at this point. :D

if they stay in the GOM house, the trip will be fairly useless since nobody improves in the GOM house.
He's staying in the GOM House, it says it in the OP -_-

Wow this is amazing news! mana has always had a lot of potential imo and i'm really excited to see where he goes! I have faith he can do well if he practices!!!!!
But guys, don't forget that also Funkay is going. I really wanna see if he is going to improve in Korea. He was very good in BW and not so good in SC2. Now he has a great chance to catch up. Good luck Funkay!
That is exciting, and good for him. More pro gamers should go and try how they can do in Korea. I think, since Mana was good in BW and recently won DH because of his graduation recently and his recent free time to practice, he has the potential to become one of the best foreign protosses.
why is he in up and down. he should just be given direct code s for dreamhack performance. it was the only major tournament and gom looks at major tournaments when they award such seeds
I am really surprised how good MaNa is considering he was in school until now and not playing fulltime... he doesn't even need someone wishing him luck in korea, he will be successful anyway
funkay is pretty good aswell but I think the main reason he is going is to support his brother, his skill is not high enough yet that a korea trip is worth it imo.
@grs MorroW organized his trip to korea by himself iirc and it had nothing to do with mousesports.

SaSe is great and is top3 foreigner imo with NaNiwa and Stephano. He will do better and better when he get to korea again imo, and when he gets the chance again in GSL he will prove how good he is!
On July 11 2012 06:51 McFeser wrote: Oh, so when do we start calling him the best foreigner?
Unfortunately, he might not even be the best in Poland right now.
Yeah, Nerchio is probably the best Polish sc2 player atm. However Mana is talented and imo it' a good thing that he goes to Korea.
Nerchio is serious contender for top3-top5 foreigner spot atm so nothing to be ashamed of. MaNa is already really skilled and has even more talent (remember from dreamhack his instant decision of destroying and rebuilding his own damaged gateway to eliminate the weak spot in his wall? you can't practice shit like that). Plus despite still being a teenager he has a ton of on- and off-line experience so perhaps he won't freak out in gsl booths. He's a perfect candidate for some Korean training.
My only regret is that in the gomhouse he won't communicate with Korean pros and coaches. MaNa is a very friendly and hard working guy, one of very few foreigners who tries to learn some Korean. He would fit perfectly in one of pro teamhouses.
Yeah, Nerchio is MaNa's nemesis. Also, one win against Stephano doesn't change the fact that his weakest matchup is PvZ (he's the first one to tell you that). His other matchup are much better.
so 2 Protoss foreigners in the gsl. ..I hope he will stream sometimes!

Yea; i think they started inviting foreigners due to the lower popularity of sc2 in korea. Gomtv still wants to make money and will use every possibility - and it's still fair as only winners of certain cups get an invitation (?).
GL HF to a fellow countryman! Even if you play Toss!

While my info is slightly outdated, we don't have much of a hired/full-time/sponsorship culture in Poland when it comes to our nascent progaming (doesn't mean we don't have some exceptionally skilled players but I'd normally expect them to be people who play after hours, "gentleman players" so to say), while we traditionally put a lot of emphasis on formal education, finishing it in time etc., you wouldn't really see people putting this at risk for a gaming career, and I can't really imagine a family that would support that. At least there's no more draft, so if a young player decided to interrupt highschool for full time training and tournament participation, he wouldn't need to deal with that one.
