but look on the bright side, all the production value you know and love will be transplanted into a sc2 league that allows for strong competiton, unlike proleague right now. More qualifiers means more opprotunities to see your favorite players! Ppl that care about/play a 12 year old game.... care about production value? and money? I don't think you can deny BW's production value if it lasted 12 years and created, basically, an entirely new genre of business. What attracted people the most was the game itself. Flashing lights and smoke and mirrors do not make a good show. Yet the production value was higher than any other SC2 tournament : tons of awesome hype videos, real TV broadcasts, so much better casters, hilarious group ceremonies, spectacular finals (Flash arriving to the finals stage from a fucking plane), etc. And what is it that you remember the most from the last PL finals? The games themselves right (or I suppose, the story behind)? You can make it look pretty, but it has to have substance. It's like a massive gamble atm, either the BW pros come and push the metagame or "metagame" to the limit, and we find out that it's actually pretty enjoyable to play/watch at that level, or they don't, that the skill ceiling really is as low as it is implied. I mean, it's probably too much to ask for them to hold a smaller, lower production value BW league at the same time as the newer SC2 league..... but I think the fans would appreciate it.
tbh SC2's never been better, this is probably the most exciting season of SC2, BW pros definitely can contribute to the metagame, it's inevitable that with that much dedication and work ethic.

yes, I have been waiting for a long time for this day to come. I pay my respects and tributes to the bw legends that have built and defined esports, but wow, am I excited

Broodwar was something of a mystique to me as someone also said earlier. It has an unbelievable history and story in its past 13 years, and I'm darn sad to see the pro scene go away. Although I started with SC2, I recently started to play brood war as well and loving the game play. There's so many options and strategies that can be exploited, heck I've played more BW than SC2 this past week.
But to be constructive, I hope the SC2 scene gets to the level that BW got at its peak and if at all possible surpass it.
Blizzard better make the right moves.

The thought of a foreigner competing in the OSL is so unbelievably awesome.
I hope that at some point in the future the OSL can reach the same heights with SC2 as it did with BW.

Farewell, dearest BW OSL. You will be missed <3.

A part of me wants to jump for joy. Another part wants to mourn in silence. I'm all befuddled.
There is only one thing for sure. There can be only one.

Yeeeeeeeees! More SC2 leagues. I can't get enough of them. Kespa players vs GSL players will be awesome. I hope R1CH makes the appropriate tweaks so people don't have to enable the Brood War checkbox on the calendar streams to be reminded of the league, like we do right now for Proleague.

well that sucks. can't see how any starcraft fan would be happy with this.
