He gave me some really strange and wacky advice for certain matchups which...in hindsight he was probably talking out of his ass, but nevertheless I managed to implement some of the things he said and come up with some really cool and strong strategies out of it all so I guess it all worked out for the best. I wish I had saved the replay of our ladder match cuz it'd be interesting to go back and look at it now, but oh well. | ||

http://drop.sc/189208 Take a look at 2:23. Right as the terran player cancels his gas, he looks exactly on the geyser through the fog of war for some seconds. Another noteworthy thing is that he says his build can not fail vs 3cc and banshee, even though he hadn't scouted the third cc when he decided to make all those units. I hope I am just wrong and this is just random. Edit: My point is not the build he did, but the look WITHOUT vision. He maybe just said it because he saw the third cc when killing the terran. | ||

Actually I find the build he did not too weird, for the following reason. Here is my ordered thought process if I were scouting what Nerchio did. A) No gas, so 2rax or 1 rax. Make 8 ling, make double queen, get speed, check for shit. Lots of SCV, so not proxy rax very quickly (if I counted them). So, don't need spine right away, can scout first. B) Ok looks like it was a 1rax, no pressure yet. Scout his front, only 4 marine. Interesting, quite a low count. Must be planning for tech play or some sort of silly shit like maybe 6 rax pure marine? C) Ok takes his gas, expecting hellions now. Gas is really late so if he tries barracks shit I will have roaches and more lings out in time to crush. May as well roach ling to all in any expand with hellions. D) Still no hellions 6 minutes in.... E) See no hellions 7 minutes in, factory has reactor now at front though. F) Still no expand.... tech is slow... we know he 1 rax FE'd to begin with, but that he is unwilling to come down his ramp means he is sacrificing the econ advantage of his 1 rax FE. So, he must be insecure of coming down which means low unit count or hiding an all in (and notice he has been unwilling to put any pressure on us all game!), since going no gas opening into all in this late would be quite very weak. So, if we had to take a bet, go with 3 cc. G) Scout main, see starport with tech lab. Throw down spore at each base. So, all in all not too weird. Also, I don't feel he committed to the all in until even after I would have called some sort of low army build, probably 3cc or tech or both. | ||

I'm just telling them who as far as I know actually levels the accounts in 1v1, and what group those accounts belong to (and are used for team games). Miscommunication lol. | ||

Clearly neither of you have any idea how hack detection actually works, or indeed basic logic. 1) If someone's automating or doing an obvious hack in wow, shitloads of people will see it. If a guy starts moving at 100x normal speed, people will notice and reports will go in. If you see a comp bot farming mobs for gold drops, it's obvious it's a bot, and it can be reported again. There is also the chance for multiple people to quickly report. This leads to a larger number of reports in a shorter amount of time compared to SC2 map hacks, where the maphacker plays 1v1 for 10-20 mins against each person and it might not be obvious he hacked. Much lower number of reports, and if you factor out troll reports of innocent people, it'll take a while for anything significant to appear on blizzards' radar. 2) Map hacks work by reading the game state from open memory. There's nothing Blizzard can realistically do about preventing that. WoW automation requires a bot repeating the same actions over and over and sending them to the server. WoW speedhacks or whatever can be programmed to send a clear red alert if someone's moving that fast. 3) Things like blink automation tools could in theory be auto-detected if they're made badly, but for every hour Blizzard spends trying to make better detection, hackers can spend two avoiding it. It's cat-and-mouse and the mouse is always ahead (unless he gets sued, then he might stop but another will likely take his place... the analogy kinda breaks down there) 4) WoW and SC2 are completely different games. Hack detection is wildly different between them anyway. Comparing them is as pointless as comparing SC2 and Counter Strike "Preventing" and "detecting" hacks in SC2 isn't going to happen on a regular, reliable basis unless hackers get lazy (and they won't). Best way to deal with shit like this is to ban people who do it (and make damn sure there isn't a key generator for SC2 that allows them to make a new account for free).
