Hello,
You probably know the Logitech Mini Optical which nearly every SC:BW pro uses.

Does anyone know how to adjust it to SC2? For SC:BW you just plug it in and play, for it jumps over pixels if you just do that for high resolution SC2. What could I do to avoid that?
I've already tried using the official driver from the Logitech page. But changing my DPI or other important options is not available there.

Korean SC:BW players (which are playing SC2 as well now) and also some Korean SC2 players use it I believe. This is why I'm sure there is a possibility to adjust it to SC2, I just don't know how.

Work on adjusting the mouse settings in the game to see if you can smooth out the feel first before trying anything out and then work from that point.

Wow, it'll be a sad day when the mini optical is no longer good enough for gaming. It was literally THE Brood War mouse...

If i recall right Flash is using one in the FPVod that was released. He was playing a TvT i think so i guess Fash found a way to make it work well enough.

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I used it for some time but then started using my Razer Diamondback 3G instead, although the Logitech is perfect for my hand.
There must be some way do improve the DPI. Maybe Koreans got some software to do that, but the official Logitech driver isn't able to for sure.

If you read the info in the thread I linked you to you will learn everything you need to know about DPI and resolution. Unfortunately there is no way to adjust the DPI of your mouse. The Mini Optical is great for SC:BW because it's a 640x480 game but for modern games you will either have to accept pixel skipping or play them at a very low resolution!
|
My best guess would be to just have to adjust it in the control menu of sc2. Because you cannot increase DPI on an optical past its max.
|
This should be in tech support.
|
You shouldn't need to change anything. It has a low DPI, so if you turn up [software] sensitivity, it's going to skip pixels because that's what you are telling the software to do. You have to set the sensitivity SUUUUUUUUUPER low so it doesn't do that.
Keep in mind that you will have to drag the mouse about 3 inches to cover a standard 1920x1080 desktop res.
|
they accept pixel skipping by raising up the sensitivity in-game. honestly it hardly makes a difference once you get used to it. Some pros even with good high dpi mouses such as nestea still set there mouse sensitivy to 70% in-game.
It makes no sense yes i agree, but it shows all you have do is become accustomed to it.
|
Hmm okay thanks guys. Seems like either I'd have to adjust to that myself or the time of those mouses has ended
|
|
Couldn't you just play in a smaller resolution?

:O

Get a g9x and use it without a shell like mvp, parting, and squirtle do. It's similar enough and you can customize dpi. Check newegg/amazon, I've found it for under $50 before.
|
MarineKing uses it as well.

I can't believe all of them are playing with pixel skipping. Gonna try it out at 1024x768, but I guess that resolution will be too high, too.
|
I've been using mine since I got a beta key way back then. I never had any problems with pixel skipping and I never felt like I had to adjust at all; just jumped right in out of BW and it all felt fine.
|
I recall when SC2 first came out, I experienced a lot of pixel skipping with this mouse Fortunately (and unfortunately) for me, at around the same time, my brother started stealing my mouse to use with his desktop (since he didnt have another one), so I bought another mouse and didnt have to deal with this problem
