We can't see the screens in GSL. Many $1000 monitors can do downscaling or upscaling well with specific chips. He could be on 800x600.

Isn't 1024x768 the lowest resolution at SC2?

I can't believe all of them are playing with pixel skipping.
Gonna try it out at 1024x768, but I guess that resolution will be too high, too.

That's a really old screenshot. MarineKing has been using a logitech g9x now. Same with mvp, parting, squirtle, and others.

yea MKP uses the g9x 100% right now. Higher DPI mouse and is better for SC2.

I had the optical mini but I had to scrap it for another mouse. It was a sad day to part with my long time friend It's very hard to find a mouse that is similar. Is the g9x comparable in size?

"I'm afraid your mouse simply doesn't have the required DPI for SC2; you'll have to purchase a new one!"

400dpi is plenty for sc2, as long as you dont do chobo stuff like mousing to the edge of the screen to scroll. The middle mouse button can move the camera for a reason, and minimap tapping or camera hotkeys can do everything out of reach of scroll wheel dragging at far lower DPI's than 400.

When i play zerg i either use camera hotkeys 5, 6, 7, 8, re-assigning them every tumor path, or just hold down scroll wheel. Works fine.

Actually, from what I understand, different mini opticals will be 400 or 800dpi depending on where/when they were manufactured (but documented very poorly by Logitech themselves), is it possible the pros being referenced are just using 800dpi editions?

Played with that mouse in the old days of SC2. No, there is no 800 dpi edition unless you have some fake mini opt. The BW Pros(and Supernova) either just play with 400 dpi the way Sase does or set their sensitivity to 70-74%, which basically emulates 800 dpi by skipping 1 pixel for every dot moved. That said, the pixel skipping is not that much of a problem because it is constant with the LMO in cotrast to the randomness of it with a lot of other shitty mice.

400 dpi is enough, you just move your mouse further with the higher resolutions. I've often used 400 dpi (I use a microsoft wmo) at 1920x1080 and my accurate twitching is certainly enough for fast movements. This is with 1:1 movement since that is what you should aim for. It is more about what you're used to if you want to be fast rather than some bs marketing DPI. If it is too slow for you on high resolutions then use something like 1280x720 or 1024x768 resolution. 2-3 inches to get anywhere in the screen is certainly not a handicap in the right skill level. You may even play better and more accurately that way.

Use a Zowie Mico. Or just max out the sensitivity settings, I haven't found DPI to be important at all in an RTS, accuracy (smoothness) is a much more important aspect, e.g lazer can jump all over the place even though it has high dpi, i find optical to be smoother.

Some BW players do, I know Stork does. Most use the LMO though.

You could always play starcraft 2 at the same resolution you played BW, that way it would play exactly the same!

Most players who previously used MiniOpticals have either switched to G1 or G9x. The only person I can think of that hasn't is SuperNoVa. Other than that, Flash is still playing BW where its perfectly fine.

Windows mouse sensitivity should always stay on 6/11, right?

If I do that I'd have to put my ingame sense on 100% to make my LMO fast enough (on 1024x768). I guess I'll just use my Razer Diamondback 3G ;;

anything above 6/11 on windows will decrease precision and accuracy.

This really doesn't sound right. When you say "fast enough," what criteria are you using?

Wild, I thought that most players had switched since the Mini Optical had very low maximum DPI. Then again, I only know what I've read from the Ultimate Mouse Thread. Maybe somewhere in there you can find a way to fix this.
