It's more the concept of buying a player right after he wins a tournament. Sure liquid did it in 2010 with tlo and huk, but eg's done it with idra, puma, huk, and now thorzain

Puma was talked to before the finaly, Huk's Dreamhack/HSC3 win was 2-3 months ago and EG signed Thorzain before the finals

I don't see any upset people?

I just see a rich team buying another player from a poorer, which in about any sport I know happens and is not exactly "liked" by just about anyone except the fanbase of the rich team?

In the case of EG it's just hilarious that they still lack the result although their whole roster consists of... the most expensive players there are/were at the time of the purchase?... They probably should just ask the teamleagues to sell them the trophy directly :D...

The real important questions are:
Has Thorzain yet recieved his life long stock of Muscle Shirts (which look terrible and as a sponsor i would prohibit my players wearing them in front of a camre) and his oversized cup to drink ugly looking protein(?) shakes AND most important his beard.

EG lacks results? They have better results than any other foreign team. They've won MLGs, IEMs, NASL and have had top 3's at many of those tournaments as well.

Team Leagues are secondary. GSTL is the only one that really matters. The rest are online. I'm sorry, but online competition is just, its not fair. Outside of Thorzain, what tournaments were the rest of Mouz winning?

They are not really foreign team or rather that distinction is meaningless now with Koreans being on nearly every roster. So you comparing them with foreign teams only is not really fair. You should compare them with all (but mostly Korean) teams. As for which "foreign" team can be compared to them. I would say 3 code S players are better than 0 and 2 code S Ro8 contenders are also rather better than what EG has achieved. I hope you know which team I am alluding to.

Ya not Mouz.

And ?

On page 871 you say "If I had best interest if ThorZain in mind, I would say EG offer was bad for him. He should have quit SC2 as quickly as possible and go back to school. But my opinion is based purely on this move ruining my favourite team. And of course on my eternal hatred for everything related to EG."

Your favorite team is implied to be mouz. I bet you didn't flame them when Thorzain was with them.
Also on page 958 you say "If you actually cared for ThorZain's well-being you would wish he quit SC2 and went to school. And I couldn't care less about esports." This is probably the most pretentious and ignorant thing I have ever heard any human being say. Ignoring the fact that you think you know whats best for people you don't know personally, and ignoring the fact that the statement "And I couldn't care less about esports." directly goes against your previous statement of having a favorite SC2 pro team and being emotionally invested enough to have an eternal hatred of another, if you really had Thorzains best interest in mind you would want him to be happy with what he does in life and have enough respect for him as a person to not imply you know whats best for him. You are not bright.

Lets start with, what does that have to do with the discussion I had with jmbthirteen about whether EG is the best foreign team ? Your response have no relation to that. That is why I responded with "And ?".

If you have problem with what I said in post on page XXX, quote the relevant post. Do not quote completely unrelated one with completely unrelated response.

Now for your arguments. There is nothing contradictory about me not caring about esports and having emotional investment in teams. I can easily not care if esports dies or not and yet be emotionally invested in teams or players. They are not the same thing. Not even mentioning that teams (not pro, but still teams) can exist without professional esports.

If you quoted the posts you would also notice the context which would be helpful so you do not make completely irrelevant remarks like last part of your post.

Are you insane? Really. You're attempting to sound like you're educated but not only have you not made a point throughout this whole thread but you also sound insane. How can you possibly not care about E-sports yet have a favorite team? How? I don't get how that works. Why are you even posting in this thread if you don't care about E-sports? Why? And do you seriously, like no joke, think that Thorzain is some brain dead idiot who can't make decisions for himself? Do you seriously think you know whats better for Thorzain then Thorzain? Really? Make 1 valid point. Instead of trying to sound smart, be smart. You sound like a completely insane idiot. Hes a 21 year old grown man. Let me burst your insane bubble, you don't know everything. In fact, if you really believe in the stuff you have been spewing in this thread, get help, fast.

And you provide some arguments ? Your whole post consists of insults, name-calling and you made basically no point whatsoever. Hypocrisy much ? Your whole post is disjointed mess of insults and putting words in my mouth.

Anyway, teams can exist without professional e-sports. So why would it be a problem to have emotional investment in a team and not care about professional e-sports ? Also, emotional investment does not mean I am emotionally invested in everything that has to do with a team. People are often more sad when team loses in a match than when team disbands, funny how human emotions work in sports. It is like emotions are irrational sometimes, who would have thought ?

Rest of your angry rant has nothing to do with my posts so I will take them as you venting some issues.

Zenio and Taeja were both free agents who openly declared their intent to join a foreign team prior to being recruited.

I'm far from trolling. It's more EG's preoccupation with hugely salaried white guys that makes the Yankees comparisons particularly apt in their case. Also, the comparison originated after EG's poaching of TL's HuK, in case you've forgotten, which makes calling TL the big-guy poaching team a bit less than fitting.

While I think EG is really just poaching players, I do have to point out that both HuK and Thorzain's contracts were expiring. They were available to be targeted, and subsequently, were.

I still think it's a dirty practice to go after other teams star players and throw money at them to get them on your side. Reminders me of the Yankees.

Edit: I said dirty, and I mean that morally. Obviously there is nothing wrong with pursuing a free agent.

Is there a diffidence between contracting a teamless player and contracting a whos Contract with his old team just finished? That counts for both Huk and Thorzain.

The method by which a player is acquired can make a tremendous difference in how different teams are perceived; I think we all know that. Contractually, no, there is no difference obviously.

Why is it any different?

In real life do you quit your job before looking for a new one? I don't think anyone is that dumb.

It's not like mouz is surprised, I'm sure they know he was talking to other teams in order to find the contract best suitable for him. Same goes with HuK (I'm pretty sure Liquid had the chance to match or near-match EG's offer).

It's a perception issue but I don't think anyone should actually care. Simple fact is it's great that both EG and Liquid have the resources to bring in top-tier talent.

Thorzain is so Handsome. He really encapsulates our experience as Terran players. I actually really got into this game from TSL 3.

Call me silly, but that series changed my life in a small way. Here I was in grad school, screaming with excitement at this game of sc2. I almost felt bad for my neighbors in the complex, but SCREW YOU THIS IS TSL 3.

Never has a series been as vibrant and shattering for me as a player. To have Thorzain still playing makes me so happy. He is A Terran personality that will stay with us for the ages.

You didn't even read on EG's site did you? It clearly says that they talked to him about joining before dreamhack. Please get all info you can before saying this and that. It makes for a better world, or forum if you want.

But you forgot about the part where TL was a godsend created on Day 6, while EG was a byproduct of Adam and Eve eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. So what you said is moot.

There's also the fact that where most teams would probably abandon a player after something like the probe rush at blizzard cup but quantic stuck through with naniwa.
