Not surprising at all. We have to remember that GSLs are also twice as long now which has 2 effects.

1) Prize money per month has decreased by 50% (They did up Code A pay but for top Code S players, it is basically 1/2). The winner still does very well since the distribution is pretty top heavy. But semi-finalist pay is only $4,450 which is only $2,250 per month.

2) Participation in foreign events are much easier since the schedule is not as packed

Another reason is that foreign teams are basically setting up the same infrastructure in Korea as the Korean teams and probably have better financial support. So it is not like players are giving up their practice environments and such. Many players have actually been playing really well since their signings (Ganzi, Heart, aLive, MC). And they get more financial security.

I swear I have never reached Oz in MLG winter Arena.

My best buddies I love to hangout is LG IM Nestea and Oz.

We ate lots of Korean food and I brought two boys out as many times as I possibly could. (my own pocket)

We had fund there. I didn't want to brag about this but if you check LG IM Nestea's interview after Winter Arena.

There is a mention where he thanks me for it. All we did was hang out eat lots of Korean Food and talk SC2.

So FXOBosS was talking about another player...

Thats must be Leenock since he was at winter arena.

Might be Lucky at Assembly too. But remember, his tweets were about a week or so after Arena, so the 'soliciting' might have been afterwards or something. Oz placed pretty well at Winter Arena too

With aLive transfer pretty much killing TSL earlier this year and now they get Oz from FXO I start to get mixed feelings for the team.

I really hope Fnatic will grow up their own players someday rather than buying aces from other teams.

The only players living in korea on that entire roster is Alive and Oz, correct?
Moon also, but I seriously am beginning to doubt Moon's commitment to sc2. He went back to Warcraft 3 prior to the WCG tournament, and i think he will do it again and again whenever Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 practice schedules begin to clash. He's also posted poor results in recent tournaments.

Players look to Moon with a bit of jealousy based on how much money he has earned compared to the skills that he [is percieved to] have/has. He's having a hard time finding quality practice partners as well. I believe FXO Boss alluded to the ease in which some koreans have finding top notch practice partners when compared to others. The others he was referring to were on his team, and also include players like Moon

Fnatic has a Korean training house. Most of, if not all, their team is there practicing along with their LoL team, I believe.

At this very moment everyone is in Korea in the Fnatic team house there...well moon's at his own place and most probably Oz will go to the house as well.

They have at least a year until that happens according to the KeSPA-Blizzard-OGN-Gretech deal iirc.

Was there a hard written rule that players from existing sc2 wouldn't be able to sign with BW teams?

Yeah that's the way I understood it. I saw this posted in an article shorting after the meeting took place, so I assume it was sort of an olive branch extended to the current SC2 teams by the KeSPA teams to show that they didn't want to just steal all of their talented players (even if that is really what they might want to do).

Not sure if he can play in GSTL at the moment since you have to be on the roster before a certain date to qualify for playing that season.

Boss made a blog post.

http://fxoboss.tumblr.com/post/22567380838/a-few-things-to-know-about-the-fxopen-e-sports-team

A few things to know about the FXOpen e-sports Team

As you all should know by now, Haksu aka, Oz has been transferred to Fnatic.

To avoid unwarranted speculation in teamliquid threads, I felt it might help put to light some things regarding how our team is run, and why things happen as they do.

FXO provides budget for a certain number of events per year, plus additional extras based on tournament results.

Over the last year, FXOLeenock, FXOz, FXOLucky have been the players who have been attending overseas events.

Recently, we decided we would mix it up a bit, and send players who are performing well in online international events, to the live events. Thus mixing up who gets the chance to go overseas i.e more exposure.

At the same time, FXOpen pays for the team house, all food, electric, etc as well as a maid who comes everyday who cooks and cleans for the players.

Normally the people who go to foreign events is decided by internal team rankings. Now it will be based on the internal rankings + recent results.

Next thing to know is that FXO does have a focus on Korean events. Travel has proven to effect results in GSL/GSTL and we have those events as our priority. With the upcoming OGN events, we will be focusing even more on Korea and the opportunities Korea provides to our players. The players who are on our roster agree with this that it is the correct way to go the distance.

At the same time, we intend to send players to foreign events only if it does not interfere with their schedule for Korean events. This is purely up to Choya’s discretion.

As for Haksu (oz) he has his military coming up in the next 24 months, and its understandable that he would like to think about the now and not the future. Which is the same thing I would do in his situation.

FXOpen e-Sports negotiates with its players to make everyone comfortable. However some things are just not possible as it would require a complete overhaul of our system, which as recent results have shown, works.

We are currently scouting 3-5 more players, from Korea. And will be signing them soon however they will not be ‘already known’ players.

As our past has shown, we prefer to grow players than to buy them out. We now have a few of our growing players maturing, such as tree, tear and whale. All are very young and very talented and you will be seeing them very soon.

At the same time, over the next 6 months our budget will most likely be increasing due to market shifts and other streams of income and revenue. This allows us to maintain our team properly in a smart business manner.

Sorry if this blog is a bit jumbled up, I am trying to multi task

Regards,

FXOBoSs
