A few things to know about the FXOpen e-sports Team
As you all should know by now, Haksu aka, Oz has been transferred to Fnatic.
To avoid unwarranted speculation in teamliquid threads, I felt it might help put to light some things regarding how our team is run, and why things happen as they do.
FXO provides budget for a certain number of events per year, plus additional extras based on tournament results.
Over the last year, FXOLeenock, FXOz, FXOLucky have been the players who have been attending overseas events.
Recently, we decided we would mix it up a bit, and send players who are performing well in online international events, to the live events. Thus mixing up who gets the chance to go overseas i.e more exposure.
At the same time, FXOpen pays for the team house, all food, electric, etc as well as a maid who comes everyday who cooks and cleans for the players.
Normally the people who go to foreign events is decided by internal team rankings. Now it will be based on the internal rankings + recent results.
Next thing to know is that FXO does have a focus on Korean events. Travel has proven to effect results in GSL/GSTL and we have those events as our priority. With the upcoming OGN events, we will be focusing even more on Korea and the opportunities Korea provides to our players. The players who are on our roster agree with this that it is the correct way to go the distance.
At the same time, we intend to send players to foreign events only if it does not interfere with their schedule for Korean events. This is purely up to Choya’s discretion.
As for Haksu (oz) he has his military coming up in the next 24 months, and its understandable that he would like to think about the now and not the future. Which is the same thing I would do in his situation.
FXOpen e-Sports negotiates with its players to make everyone comfortable. However some things are just not possible as it would require a complete overhaul of our system, which as recent results have shown, works.
We are currently scouting 3-5 more players, from Korea. And will be signing them soon however they will not be ‘already known’ players.
As our past has shown, we prefer to grow players than to buy them out. We now have a few of our growing players maturing, such as tree, tear and whale. All are very young and very talented and you will be seeing them very soon.
At the same time, over the next 6 months our budget will most likely be increasing due to market shifts and other streams of income and revenue. This allows us to maintain our team properly in a smart business manner.
Sorry if this blog is a bit jumbled up, I am trying to multi task

Regards,
