Just look at BW tourney viewership on TL. It's abysmal. because the foreign scene is BW's main source of viewership right? God that is such a dumb statement Let's not be in denial though. As amazing as BW is, its popularity is on the decline. There is a reason Team 8 with big name players such as Jaedong and Sea fail to get any sponsor. Someone also posted a figure how TV rating for BW keeps dropping year after year. MBCGame went down for a reason. Milkis and many people who have access to insider news have actually said that this development will happen over and over again since 3 years ago. Of course it was met with " SOURCE PLS OR GTFO???" but deep down everyone know it's inevitable. All the time in BW LR thread, people have already accepted the fact. Comments about how this is the last proleague, the last osl, how they want their teams to win it for the last time are everywhere. That said, there is no guarantee that SC2 will be the premier Esports in Korea. LoL's momentum is huge. Social games are way more popular everywhere. Even more so with Korean cultures of playing with friends in PC Bang. Games like MMO or LoL or Dota 2 where you can play with many people at once have the advantage. People are right though. The number of SC2 players are on the decline. SC2 in a very short time has become a game that people watch but doesn't play. That is not sustainable especially compared with its competitions which are played by millions of people daily. The move is good step for those who want an RTS as the no1 esport title but blizzard need to get their shit together and fix bnet/social aspect of sc2 so people actually play the game again

If you want to belittle something you could also mention that most pros streaming their practice games also get 1000+ views, which makes those BW restreams look ridiculous.

I don't follow the BW scene so I have no idea if new names are still emerging and keeping the competition alive. While some BW Pro's are getting old, there has been a decent amount of new talent showing itself this season. The fact that all 8 teams are so stacked, combined with the return to the Bo5 format has limited playing opportunities for rookies this season, but a lot of low to mid level players have shown real improvement.
