Once a month we have 10.000$ show match with a PPV model where both players are decided by the community.
Like next we could have idra vs mc or something like. That would just be more free money for mc It doesn't matter since it's self sustained and the community gets drama. One rule though would be one player can't be invited the next 3 show matches (to avoid spam of the favorites). So we could have: Stephano vs Naniwa idra vs MC Huk vs DRG Ret vs MVP Stephano vs MC etc... And in a bo11 with Tastosis. For that kind of money for one match I can bet we will see the best of anyone. And the loser gets nothing.
where did you get those match ups from? the reason stephano-naniwa would be fun is because it would be a relatively even match. to give mc, drg and mvp money isnt very interesting..
i think you miss the whole point of drama and excitement.. the games you proposed are the same as the showmatches we already have. no drama. no excitement. just two good players playing and 1000-2000 people watching

And the loser gets nothing. What an awful idea. This isn't boxing, this kind of thing completely de-legitimises the sport. Jesus, again you appear. Go away. Monobattles got 30k of viewers. Do you approve that? Awesome controversial matches are bad for the industry? Yeah right. How exactly is TotalBiscuit giving stream money to charity in a 1k fun tournament the same as a PPV grudge map at the whim of community fan favourites? It's not the same. One is about the actual game and the competitive aspect of it. You tell me why this "deligitimizes the sport" . You leave in a dream world with no stakes and the play just for the fun of it maybe.
I have no idea what you're actually try to say here so I will just ignore that and tell you why it's bad.
The community has a limited budget for putting actual dollars onto the table for ESports. So with that very limited budget the worst way we could as a community possibly spend this money is through grudge matches instead of using this money to invest in actual leagues like NASL, IPL, MLG, GSL, IEM etc.. by buying their premium passes as these leagues actually reward money on merit rather than random popularity whims of the community and they are building the infrastructure of ESports so that one day we can hopefully get enough sponsorship money and views to make us fully sustainable and not haemorrhaging money like Esports currently does.
Randomly giving $10,000 to Naniwa and Stephano achieves absolutely non of these things and is so unbelievably stupid it's difficult to express into words.

It's not like a Frenchman to back away from a challenge. I'm sure Stephano will come round.

I guess stephano is a PussPuss Pussycat D:

Stephano: Hey Naniwa bet you're too scared to have a showmatch. Naniwa: That sounds like fun, let's do it. Stephano: Oh shi-

Rofl, Yonnua, you drew pretty much the situation...

I lol'd.
On a serious note though, this needs to happen. If not for 10k then something more manageable, I'm sure people watch would the showmatch even if it was for nothing other than bragging rights. I think it would be doubly cool if one of the casters could get in on a skype call with those two as it was going on (caster mutes himself so it's only Nani/Stephano talking) to hear them banter at each other. Would add another level of awesomeness to the whole thing. Not to mention the games themselves would be sick, Stephano's been on an absolutely tear lately and NaNi maintains his good results and recently earned a Code S spot (again). Someone please make it happen!

My ESPORTS bucks are on NaNi.
Lower the price and make it happen, I'd say if each chip in 1-2k its enough. No need to go crazy on the money.
Also cross server makes this kinda irrelevant so they could wait to be in the same region to play the showmatch.
|
There will be drama if this happens for money. Just get a caster and make this happen. My money is on Naniwa

Well Chill has always been the man, first fanclub i joined (second was Naniwas's). Lol I'll root for you nani , go get them 10k

Normally I would bet on Stephano, but his ZvP revolves around denying a third. Naniwa doesn't take thirds. He prefers to end the game before then lol. So i bet on Nani

Seriously, If this happens, I want to bet with someone for 10 bucks. I bet on Stephano. Paypal payment.
(Not sure if TL allows this)

I'm sure legally they can't endorce it, but I don't think they care, I believe Rekkul did a similar thing.

Given the preferred strats of these players, I think the map pool will be a very important factor. If it's anything like the GSL map pool I'm going with Stephano. If it's like MLG's though, gotta go with Naniwa.
