I wonder why we don't have more fan-funded showmatches. It'd be like a kickstarter for a showmatch. Set a goal of $5000 for a showmatch between two voted players with the winner taking the cash. Fans pay for something they want to see and the players directly benefit.

I don't know why money matches don't happen more often. It's basically ingrained in the fighting game community that money matches are a part of the game. There was a $50k MvC2 money match and with the amount of prize money in SC2 right now I would expect there to be more of this kind of thing.
