Except he wasn't using the term towards black people.
He was using it the same way many people use the the word f**, as a general insult.
On a certain level I approve of this, as it actually desensitizes the term and destroys it's meaning. Anything that is used less frequently or is repressed, increases in significance. Be it alcohol (prohibition), drugs, or words. The more we try to "raise awareness" to non-PC terms by simply making everyone not use them, the more offensive they become when actually used.
That however is just a fact of life, not a justification for immaturely throwing the word around either.
Edit: While I've always appreciated the amount of work Orb put into helping the community grow, I've always found him very abrasive. Mostly watching him do the Korean Weekly tournaments, I frequently saw him arguing and insulting chat, which I found immature and unprofessional. I overlooked it personally, because I could close the chat and not pay attention in between games, as his in game analysis and casting has always been way above average the majority of casters.

Sorry, but you should have known better. It's a matter of maturity, the timing has nothing to do with it. The context shouldn't have to be used to excuse bad behavior. You shouldn't rage and use potentially racist language, whether it's replaceable to you or not.
When I met you at the DC Lan you were spewing similar statements when things didn't go your way. You throw tantrums man. If this was your aspiration to be a caster, you should have worked to mature first.

I'm really conflicted about this. On the first hand, I love Orb's casting and have since he started doing stuff with the NASL. The fact that I'm likely not going to see anymore of that for awhile is really disheartening. I think this apology is honest, but it's still too little too late.
However, he's not really apologizing for the right things here. The specific language he used is obviously not acceptable, but unfortunately he handled this situation poorly. I'd like to think that if he owned up to it and admitted that he said those things that would have been the end of it. The problem was more that he tried to cover it up, which is an understandable, knee-jerk reaction. I've seen Orb's stream before I saw him cast. The dude rages. We've all done things in the heat of the moment that we realize are unacceptable (even if those are multiple moments). But now I feel that I cannot take his word at face value. He says these things all happened long before his stint with EG, but he also said that his friends did it and... Well, we know the rest.

This cannot be more wrong. These words have very specific meanings that will always be negative, and by using them in other contexts you're actually giving more power to those words.

I'm not sure why you're so offended by someone getting angry on ladder. Every person who has ever played on ladder seriously has raged; I've raged. I don't know why your heart is so set and happy to see this personality go away, it frustrates me more than his "racist" comments to be honest.
