For four long months since the addition of Feast to our roster, we have finally found another great player to join Millenium. Enter the Dragon!
He will be our first Korean player. Dragon is a Korean player who is officially returning to the professional gaming scene after taking a leave of absence from competitive gaming. He decided to focus on work after his departure from SlayerS but is now returning with renewed energy.
Millenium team will see Dragon at the Lone Star Clash event in Texas and at the IPL4 Open Bracket Qualifiers, both sponsored by Playhem. Dragon will also be participating on Millenium TV directy from the gaming House. In addition, Dragon will be staying at the Millenium House in Marseille after his participation at the two North American events!

Why did you decide to join a foreign team ? Why and how did you come to join Millenium ?

Wow quite surprising, mill never seemed like a team to hire personalities (not that that is all dragon is), but I suspect it will likely work out quite well.
Millenium has very few high profile players. Stephano is the only truly popular player, and Feast is somewhat popular, but not really a personality. This could help their exposure.
While Dragon is not really a top-tier player (certainly by Korean standards, maybe even by foreigner standards) I believe he has the potential to be one of the best in the foreigner scene. The practice house could do him quite well. In addition Mill needs to populate their house for it to make sense.

Really nice for Millenium. Llewellys getting some Koreans again is a good thing for french teams in general. The fact that he's going to the millenium house is also very good for the team. Great job millenium !
mmm not sure how i feel about dragons comeback to professional gaming, but i guess its a nice pick as the fanbase is huge he takes with him. Grats to Millenium i guess.
Looking forward to seeing Dragon in LAN tournaments. I REALLY hope for interviews on-stage/off-stage he keeps his personality that I've come to love on his stream. I dislike the amount of generic and bland personalities players have in interviews.

Not trolling, just not going to jump on the <3 Dragon bandwagon, just like I didn't jump on the crucify katu bandwagon. Seems like a lot of this goodwill torwards him was born from that anyway.
Dragon cannot perform well in EU dailies because there is extreme lag. He has won NA dailies however. Dragon put a lot of thought into this so please support his decision

lol@ people saying dragon is average. he's very close to the top tier by foreign standard. he's a high master on KR and able to beat GMs sometimes. i think he's going to do better than most people expected.

It is really that simple.
If the community does not want him to compete, then ban him or don't invite him to tournaments, but it seems only a small minority is hung up on his past mistakes.
I think we could use a little clarification and maybe apology from Dragon on what happened back then, but really this is a small matter and as long as he has put it behind him I don't see it as a big issue.
Good! A lot of people seem to believe that Dragon is some "bully" or scrub that can't compete at the top level. I, however, believe he has what it takes if he puts 110% effort into this amazing opportunity. I believe he will. Gogo Millenium Dragon!

People don't know what they are talking about, dragon been in the top 10 on kr ladder many times. Hes not just a random guy who got picked up , millenium know what they are doing, best of luck to dragon !

I would say that about the other people you mention. Outright cheating (match fixing and the like, not PED use) is met with a lifetime ban in most major sports. I know that my view is not a popular one; I think that nobody caught cheating should be allowed to compete.

as a long time dragon fan i have to admit I am disappointed by his choice in team. Mostly because Mill doesn't seem to have very much content about their players in english but maybe they will surprise me and realize that with dragon comes many diverse fans whose one commonality is english.

Same for Feast : nothing done before he was kept by LLewellys, and now he's one of the more up and coming foreign protoss.

You have a great point. It's unlikely that Millenium will translate everything relative to Dragon, still fan translated content is fairly regular on Stephano's fanclub so I wouldn't worry too much.
PS : It wasn't a first, they started writing more in english. The videos of the House were subbed in english and french.
I think this is a smart move. Splash into the foreign scene instead of facing a wall in Korea due to his history. If he succeeds and makes his way up the ranks from outside, I'm sure he will get some warmer reception when/if he decides to transition to a korean team. People love winners, but love comeback stories even more. Champions can buy forgiveness.

Despite what Dragon said, he obviously doesn't want to stop playing yet, streaming many hours everyday. I would guess SlayerS dropped him for his lack of performance but in order to preserve dragon's name said he left for other reasons. Anyways, great addition to the team on mill's part and Goodluck to both Dragon and Mill!

Like Vira said, you could also add Huk who went to Millenium (not sure if Llewellys or Moman detected him but it doesn't matter) when he was quite good but with no lan result and ended up with a mlg title.

Dragon has shown a lot of potential. Millenium first agreed to see his gameplay through his replays on stream and offered a place in the MSI Pro Cup #7. After seeing his playstyle against ToD, who has a lot of respect in the EU scene, they thought that it would be worth investing in him. Dragon may not have a lot of wins under his belt but he is a passionate player who works really hard. I think the work attitude is part of the reason why Millenium chose him. Part of the reason why a team decides to pick a player up is based on how agreeable a player is and how compatible they are.

Nothing. Lack of english content on the official website simply sounds like such a trivial thing to be disappointed by, when considering the player choice of a team.
This may very well be a win-win situation for both parties. Dragon gets a team that will support him (Millenium reputation might not be that good among TL trolls & fanbois, but it's a team that keeps its promises towards the players and once they recruit them they give them full support, plus the manager Llewellys is an honest and hard-working person), he will get to live in a gaming house (slightly different from those in Korea I would expect ) and he gets to discover another continent, country and culture, which he seems to be eager too. He seems to have the character and the motivation to make it work, that's great. Millenium gets a popular korean player who can give them access to the korean scene and maybe get some respect there, as a powerful and professional team and not only as the "team of Stephano", which may allow them to recruit another world class player in the future to pair with the zerg french genius. Plus, Dragon is not exactly a complete noob either, so he'll be a great support for the team tournaments Millenium is in, and if he manages to get excellent solo results, it's even better for him and for the team

Dragon's skills show that he is one of those that can make it in the big leagues because his win ratio is astounding, even if he took a small break and did not win any major events. He is one the most entertaining players out there. It's hard not to like this guy.

As much as it will open up a group of Korean viewers, the intention was that with Dragon, Millenium would have more access to the NA scene as opposed to the KR scene. Like many other people have said, Millenium currently limits their site to French speaking fans. Hopefully, there will be more English content from now on and Millenium will also have more exposure in not only the EU scene but the NA scene as well with players like Dragon and Stephano. Having said that, if Dragon attends and gets past the GSL Qualifiers (not officially confirmed, just speculation), he will be willing to compete in the KR scene as well. However, from what I understand, that is not the priority for both Millenium and Dragon. Their focus is currently on the foreign scene.

Well, I was listening to the stream, and Llewellys explicitly said a reason he wanted to recruit Dragon is to get contacts in the korean scene, to potentially recruit a top world korean player later on. He even trolled a bit saying he thought last autumn that Stephano may help with the contacts part, but as Stephano is "like he is" (dunno what it means exactly, not that fluent in korean for sure, and perhaps he didn't fit / feel very well in Korea), it kinda failed So yes, Dragon will focus his play on the foreign scene, but the fact that he is korean played in the decision to recruit him too, so Millenium gets more exposure in Korea.

If you have watched dragon's stream, you should know the potential and talent this kid has. I've seen him do the randomest builds, while stuffing 5 pieces of bread in his mouth, laughing and beating GM koreans. If he takes it 100 percent serious, people will definitely know and respect Dragon a ton more over the next few months. I've always felt like Dragon's self motivation is what has held him back, he has a hard time being serious for extended periods of time. Moving to France, living in a team house, should be all the motivation he ever needed and I expect to see a stud terran emerge for millenium shortly. Congrats to Millenium and Love Dragon

Did you read the part where I said I was quoting the words of Llewellys, manager of the Millenium SC2 team ? ... and you don't read properly : it's not the korean fan base they care about, it's about the opinion of korean pros towards the Millenium team and the contacts with said pros. It's obviously not the only reason they recruited him, but it's one of them. Besides, recruiting koreans is definitely a good move to get more european / french exposure...
Considering the fact that Dragon said he would stop his pro career, read his interview : he changed his mind a while ago and actually wanted to join a foreign team so he could discover new things and get chances to play EU / US tournaments.

I don't think so. At this time, only Stephano performs really well, with Feast but he still needs to improve a lot to compete with the top tiers. Imho, Diestar is at the same level. Lalush is pretty dead right now and Tarson is not come back in his old shape yet. Adel did well by beating ToD at the PxL Lan (french lan) but still, it's not a great accomplishment ...
Teams like EG, Quantic, TL or Empire are much more solid right now.

None of these team are really that dominant tbh...it's like picking a winner from an average bunch...and all the team have in common is they all have that 1 player that carriers the team name into finals...but it remains purely individual basis rather then 2/3 player consistently pushing things forward.
Until all of the teams have 2-3 players in a GSL Code A&S month after month it's hard to say one team is better then another...

I watched the stream and I didn't understand the same thing as you. I think he said Stephano didn't help him get in contact with many Koreans because "he is like he is" (he probably meant shy). So he contacted Dragon by himself, not through Stephano.
But yes he also said Dragon was more like a prospect or an underdog, and that Millenium was keeping trying to sign a recognized pro. Llewellys has teased many times for the past months that they were aiming for a pro (people were expecting players like Bling or Kas, personally I hoped for Kiwikaki). He said Terran players were either at the top, or declining so it's easier to get a Terran underdog, and maybe pick a pro from another race.
Also previously Millenium's position was to promote the french speaking community but I believe it's changed a bit with Ironsquid. Llewellys said a big tournament in France would draw the mainstream medias and since among plenty of Koreans the only french are Stephano and Tod and they are/were Millenium, journalists would be interested to hear about the team. So maybe he's thinking having a Korean in the team can help about the medias and financing too.
They sign Dragon and get almost free representation in two major tournaments (ipl4+ls), those french sure know how to make business! ;-) Congrats to both parties.
This is very interesting! Hope to see him on some EU LAN´s. Dragon has worldclass micro for sure, but he lacks in the build/strategy/decision area I would guess.
This is great news - Really Happy for Dragon, Millennium and all sc2 fans: and grateful to DearYuna for all the support she's given him over recent times. We knew of his ambition to join a Foreign team - specifically one with a Team House - and see the world; and it was brave of him to quit Slayers and openly say he would focus on his Shipping company career. It would have been a loss to our favourite eSport if he had ended up with the latter.
His work ethic is second to non (as you'd expect from a Slayers Terran), his play-style experimental and entertaining. He's also a great entertainer - and we need more of them in the scene if we're to see eSports cross over to the mainstream. I wish he and the team all the best. Success

Would you not pick up Dimaga for the same reasons?
If players prove they're willing to change we should give them that chance. Like in Baseball when a player uses steroids, it hurts their legacy but shouldn't exclude them from being in the community. Anyone who says once a cheater always a cheater is delusional, nearly every one of us have cheated at something in our lives (IE: Homework) If we as a community are unable to forgive then that is very sad! However I honestly can't say whether or not Dragon deserves forgiveness or not because I don't really follow him, however if he no longer cheats then this is a great pickup!!! Very skilled player

naniwa never cheated, just bm'd. Dimagas case is different, he cheated his way to some free wins on a ladder (although he would've been fine and qualified even if he hadn't have done that). Dragons case is different because he: 1) actually cheated in a live tournament 2) promissed the Korean community to stay away from the competitive scene 3) ended up not holding his promiss
however I think all this is pretty over-exaggerated. In the end if millennium recruited him they're not dumb, they're aware of his history and they feel confident that pros of recruiting dragon are more than the cons and that it won't hurt their trademark (so obviously there's a HUGE difference between combatex and dragon).
I wonder if this will make him start taking gaming seriously since he was on the premier team and now is no longer on it. Then again as he comes to MI, Coca returns to SlayerS so maybe we can see a rivalry come up ^^.

DIMAGA abused the TSL ladder, he talks about it too in his recent interview with ESL.

I've been a slacker when it comes to watching Dragon's stream, but I will say he was the first stream I watched on TL and I am so happy to see that he is getting back into the game.

Because maybe there was a contract. Dragon likely had a contract, and when he left he asked to be relieved of the contract without paying any fees. Jessica and Boxer likely would have let him off the contract without much fuss.

Seems like it. I should post the original translation of the interview in Korean. It should kind of explain Dragon's decision in changing his mind. I'm not sure what Dragon told her when she left, but there might have been some jumping to conclusion and misunderstanding.

I think she is just sore from losing a great player/talent who they didn't appreciate enough. We don't know what went on, maybe Dragon wanted to get in the team house and they wouldn't let him. That's gotta be frustrating, I know I'd rather move to a foreign team where you can at least have a chance at making some good money.

I haven't seen enough of dragon's serious games to comment, but I do know that he lost a bo3 to combatex, which shouldn't happen to any good pro.
Once again I will state that I really think this is a jump to conclusion and somewhat of a misunderstanding. Please do not talk badly about Jessica or Dragon because they are both wonderful people. They are both passionate people who are dedicated to what they do, and miscommunication can often cause problems in relationships. Please be patient and the issue will be addressed soon.

If you follow Dragon's stream, there are several times in which he pointed out that he was going to be quitting the professional gaming. Even during the recruitment process, there was confusion because fans contacted different teams trying to help Dragon get recruited within that one month time frame that he allocated to himself. Just stating that out there. Having said that, the current viewpoint with Jessica's comment is very one-sided at the moment. I will talk to Dragon and Millenium as well regarding this issue about posting the interview in Korean so that it is more readily accessible.

Okay here is the just of it. He was "accused" of stream cheating a while back in an online tournament just because he "blindly countered" a players build who was supposed to be superior to him.
So basically he scouted his opponent, killed them, and won. He was then immediately accused of stream cheating and maphacking by the opposing player.
I honestly think its a joke and if I was dragon, I wouldnt have apologized just to get people off of my back. And if dragon really did do it, do you think he would have the balls to attempt to join another team? No. Because dragon is not stupid and knows the consequences.
And as far as him leaving SlayerS with the intentions of going to a foreign team... those weren't his original intentions. He was planning on returning to work. Alot of his fans wanted him to join a foreign team though as he would benefit from it greatly and would more than likely be in the team's Team House (which in this case is millenium) since he wasnt able to get real practice in the SlayerS house. Its the same reason golden and sleep left but no one is bashing them about it. so chill the fuck out, he's got this
I dunno Liquipedia and it's sources seem to tell an entirely different story about that incident and his reputation so *shrug* - While this is the first time I've actually seen merit in the complaints about Jessica being unprofessional/irresponsible and while I enjoy watching Dragon play, I have to admit that Jessica seems to be right about him. :/
Also one thing people need to realize is that changing ones mind does not equal lying. If he originally left slayers in order to work on his career but then changed his mind it doesn't make him a liar unless he planned on doing that all along which you have no way of proving since its all in his mind.
Doesnt surprise me though that Jessica would get all dramatic and butthurt though as that seems to be what she does best/most often. Thats just the price you pay for having a female in a high stress managerial position.

But why should he? He was done with Slayers for a month, and then decided to join a team after initially thinking he would focus on work. That would be like me going to my old job I quit a while back to get permission to work for a different company even though I haven't worked at my old job for 6 months.
Normally I side with Jessica and Slayers, but this just seems kinda... odd. He left the team and was no longer affiliated with them, he doesn't owe them anything. She said he "were" a Slayers member (meaning was obviously), but that's the thing, he isn't anymore so why should he have to discuss his personal dealings with them? I'm not sure if Jessica's references to his lying are to do with this or other matters, but if it's this then I think she's way off. He wasn't lying when he said he quit. He actually did quit but then he had a change of heart. That happens a lot with anyone.

This post is ridiculous- you state a bunch of your opinions as though they're fact. If he said "he was sorry for what he had done" the mostly likely explanation is that he did cheat. You think a pro like TheSTC is just going to make an accusation like that lightly? You think Cella is just going to expel him from Werra for no reason?

So basically he scouted his opponent, killed them, and won. He was then immediately accused of stream cheating and maphacking by the opposing player.
I honestly think its a joke and if I was dragon, I wouldnt have apologized just to get people off of my back. And if dragon really did do it, do you think he would have the balls to attempt to join another team? No. Because dragon is not stupid and knows the consequences.

Unlike many here, we have members tied to many of these players (look in Taeja or Genius GSL interviews) and are aware of the Dragon situation inside Korea. I used to work for PlayXP(basically Korean counterpart of team liquid.) and I've witnessed with my two eyes that Dragon made a public apology himself on the community. HE ADMITTED THAT HE DID THE STREAM CHEAT AND THAT HE WOULD NEVER BE A PRO PLAYER AGAIN Dragon, despite his promises, once again played for GSL. Fine, people gave him second chance and let him join Slayers. And Dragon left the team without even notifying Jessica. Later when Jessica asked Dragon, Dragon said "I'm going to find other jobs than pro-gaming". And then he lied again. People, look. You don't get to start over when you make a such mistake. Thanks to Jessica and GomTV, he got his second chance. And now he betrayed not only his fans, but those who gave him the second chance. And we give him third chance after seeing him lying twice? Then you guys are making eSports to be taken even less serious than it is right now.

I actually believe Millenium has one of the strongest none korean line ups so adding a korean is going to do them a lot of good. Millenium seems to be a clan that prefers to put there money on unproven talent rather then those that are really big names.

I'm not saying he was searching for a team. I was just thinking that he never had intention to search for a new job considering he spent a lot of his time streaming and participated in dozens of tournaments and daily NA/EU playhem and stuffs. Getting invited into a team is something that bound to happen when you're good and teamless.

can i stop reading that Feast & Stephano were bad subtop guyz before Lewellys "discovered" them ? Feast was already subtop europe, the best belgium player and already had awsome online results. Stephano was already top3 France after just a month of training. Yeah they improved since then, but the fact is that those guyz were on a good learning curve when they joined.
they just are getting much more exposure with M in France since M has a huge "casual" fan base (and there's nothing wrong with it, don't wanna look like a hater : p)

Thank you for schooling this guy. It really bothers me when people spread misinformation like that just for the sake of fanboyism. Most Dragon fans can admit he cheated. It only makes things worse when people like this make shit up rather than facing reality.
Good luck to Dragon. Regardless what he did it wasn't any worse than what Byun or Coca did. He is a nice guy it seems and he has a chance to make something out of all that time spent on playing Starcraft. I think Jessica is overreacting a bit as she tends to do but I don't see this drama "lasting" more than a few days.
Dragon will hopefully get some awesome practice with Feast and Stephano etc and become as good as he can be! =)
I think it's safe to say Millenium understand his skill. They're banking on the fact that people will watch him on stream, and whenever he plays in a LAN. Which is as good for sponsors as winning really, eyeballs are eyeballs.
kinda sad to see millenium is starting to pick up koreans. i think it is much better for foreign teams to pick up "local" talents, like they did with recruting feast. Of course, it is way easier to hire a korean, who already got a relatively high level of skill. But this bought sucess will never get the same support, like stephano for example. mouz is now the last foreign top team wihtout a korean.

He has no objective for his US tournament run paid by playhemTV - whom we have to thank for speeding up the recruitment involuntarily - except gain offline experience and meet Stephano.
He is one of the most unique players ive seen, he is GM level with all 3 races and the only one i have seen that has offered coaching for GM players. His tactics and micro is probably on top of what ive seen. This guy is incredible and if he is focusing on going pro again he will demolish the scene. He is a BEAST.

Well to be fair, he probably was contracted to slayers and then lied about wanting to retire to get out of the contract. A few months later, he signed with millenium. I hardly think that the management of slayers can be pleased with such a development.

Individual sports have their own rules, and in none of these sports is cheating ok. Just because cheating occurs in other sports does not mean it is okay; cheating in other sports is reprimanded heavily, in fact.
Dragon deserves a second chance, I agree, but he should prove himself first before society should be expected to forgive him. His stream antics do not hold any value in this case.

One thing I always wondered about was what was Dragon's contract situation with SlayerS. It seems like they didn't regard his talent that high even after the GSL appearance. He always mentioned moving into the team house but never did... maybe they just didn't treat him that well?..you can see by Jessica's twitter posts the type of respect they had for him apparently. This would be a different matter if he breached his contract or something of that sort, but it doesn't sound like the case...SlayerS probably didn't think he was worth what he thought he was worth, remember that from a business prospective viewers mean a lot, and he was having over 1.5k fairly consistently.
My opinion was that SlayerS tried to low ball him, or took him for granted, and Mill came and scooped him up.

Mine is a bit different. Dragon's originally stated reason for leaving was that he was retiring from pro gaming (for the second time). Less than two weeks later, he announced that he was looking for a team. That's pretty shady, and I can definitely understand why Jessica is upset. If she actually did respect Dragon as a dude and as a player, then that would make his method of leaving - retiring, coming back and signing with a different team, all within a month - that much more upsetting.

Wait, what? Did you even read that? It's 100% confirmed that he cheated in a tournament. TheSTC and other members of oGs were also certain that he'd been cheating on the ladder. So that's, uh, more than one time. He was also accused of maphacking and match fixing. While those haven't been proven, he also didn't deny them when he issued an apology and retired from pro gaming forever (for the first time).

I'm not sure if it was shady or not, if he was under some contract then I would consider it shady and this issue would have double the pages. But I don't think this was the case. Anyone would jump at a good opportunity, and I think that's exactly what happened here. Personally I think he could have made good money just streaming, but like many players viewers want to associate them with a team and if its a good team people respect them more... and in this case Millenium shot out the right number to get Dragons interest. Genuinely I think he was going to quit, he wasn't really participating in anything much less taking his practice seriously..but now I think he has an opportunity to win NA/EU tournaments, make money from his contract and from his streaming as well as get back into form to one day go back to Korea and wreck... If i was him I would be gunning for all the SlayerS players, just as motivation to kick some ass.
That's a good theory but the chronology doesn't quite fit, IMO.
SlayerS announced that he was retiring. Then he publically announced that he was actively looking for a new team. It doesn't seem like he was retired, then Millenium offered him a contract to bring him out of retirement. Instead, it suggests to me that he 'retired,' like he's done before, then went looking for a different opportunity. Further, I think if he'd been honest about it, then Jessica wouldn't be upset; she's been extremely positive about Golden, who left at the same time to openly look for a foreign team.
Bad communicate on the part of Dragon led to this situation. If he communicated probably, Jessica wouldn't be upset as she is perfectly fine with Golden and Sleep.
I really like dragon, and am very glad that he's found another team. It's just another team people. But also, yeah, he should stop "retiring" does the name "Bret Favre" ring a bell? Not that I minded him on the vikings though... I'll be looking forward to seeing Dragon play, and hopefully he'll compete in more tourneys, he's an amazing player and maybe this time he'll feel more comfortable with this team and stay a bit longer. And if Blizzard would just put LAN in SC2 we wouldn't have this stream cheating nonsense ever......

I think you're confusing being a fanboy with liking a player. There are like 40 SC2 players that I really enjoy and hope that their careers flourish because they have great personalities, interesting player, or some other factor that draws me to them. For someone to post in a thread celebrating a player they like's success is not "jumping on a bandwagon." It's just genuine excitement for the opportunities to see that player in a competitive setting more and see their mark on eSports.
People can not like a player, but there's this trend on the internet among internet users in general that draws these imaginary lines about players they dislike and their fanbase. I would argue that no one (or very few people) are as fanatical about Dragon as people are (haters and fans alike) about idra, or iNcontroL, or MarineKing. And yet no one calls people out for "bandwagoning" on these players, and people are called "fanboys" simply for enjoying a player's stream and wishing him success.
You're pidgeonholing a whole group of people into this label just so you can dismiss their interest or somehow consider them beneath you and worthy of your ridicule. It's so incredibly disgusting (and a bit funny) to watch people pick and choose their hatred/likes and then pretend as if they're unique and everyone else is just a conformist bandwagoning with the crowd. If you don't like Dragon because he cheated once in the past, that's completely up to you. But you also have to justify not liking Dimaga, TT1, Haypro (even though it was a mistake), and lots of other pros. If you don't like him for his streaming style, then don't watch him! What was the Katu incident?
I'm sure there is a post in the SC2 general forum about it but the jist is: A caster (katu) on PlayhemTV talked a lot of smack about Dragon and then tried to pass it off as "trolling." Now Playhem is flying Dragon to IPL as an apology and I think? they fired Katu. Overall it was blown a bit out of proportion but a caster should never blatantly badmouth a player even if he doesn't necessarily like them.
How will Dragon be representing Playhem at these two events? Will he be wearing a Playhem t-shirt instead of a Millenium shirt? Would Millenium be paying if Playhem had not? This is a really strange announcement.
Really excited for dragon, was worried he might not get picked up, but hopefully he can show his true potential.
Some people call him an average player even by foreigner standards and compare him to destiny in that he's only popular for his personality, but when i watch him I find him to be a very skilled player when he actually tries. Of course he's no MMA or MarineKing, but I think he'll do fine for Millenium, and no i'm not a hardcore dragon fanboy
I find it very odd how some people here express such a strong aversion to the concept that, sometimes, people change their mind. What a very strange way to look at the people around you. Is this pickup sparked by his consecutive 2nd place finishes in US Playhems and high placement in EU Playhems? Or was it the casted showmatch? Or perhaps it is the sudden increase in size of his TL fanclub/mentions [which may have been inflated due to the Katu situation?].
This definitely wasn't out of the blue for pp who have too much time to watch streams [me], but I'm curious what the "moment" was for Millennium to decide to go ahead with this pickup?
I don't know much about the Jessica situation, but it all sounds a little messy. What I am asking about, and what I think a lot of potential semi-pro's would like to know, is Mill's motivating factors - what is it that made Dragon worth their while?
Any publicity is good publicity. Dragon has already started to create value for Millennium and he hasn't even done anything yet.
His personality, crazy builds, trolling players on the ladder and in tourneys, his controversy... at the end of the day it makes for good TV, so to speak.
Not to mention he is actually a pretty talented player. Maybe he will find "success" in bigger tourneys.
Either way, people will be watching, and that's what counts.
Best of luck to him, hopefully he starts rebuilding his fan base and his image on mil. Will take some work but with solid, clean play and good results he can put a lot of the bad times behind him.

And actually, most fans of Dragon stem from him being an entertaining and fun streamer, considering he had 3-5k+ viewers regularly BEFORE the katu incident.
But haters gonna hate and people gonna make inane comments.
Why do people have to jump on the bandwagon full of fanboyisim? Maybe there's just people that genuinely don't like what you like.
I think you're confusing being a fanboy with liking a player. There are like 40 SC2 players that I really enjoy and hope that their careers flourish because they have great personalities, interesting player, or some other factor that draws me to them. For someone to post in a thread celebrating a player they like's success is not "jumping on a bandwagon." It's just genuine excitement for the opportunities to see that player in a competitive setting more and see their mark on eSports.
People can not like a player, but there's this trend on the internet among internet users in general that draws these imaginary lines about players they dislike and their fanbase. I would argue that no one (or very few people) are as fanatical about Dragon as people are (haters and fans alike) about idra, or iNcontroL, or MarineKing. And yet no one calls people out for "bandwagoning" on these players, and people are called "fanboys" simply for enjoying a player's stream and wishing him success.
You're pidgeonholing a whole group of people into this label just so you can dismiss their interest or somehow consider them beneath you and worthy of your ridicule. It's so incredibly disgusting (and a bit funny) to watch people pick and choose their hatred/likes and then pretend as if they're unique and everyone else is just a conformist bandwagoning with the crowd. If you don't like Dragon because he cheated once in the past, that's completely up to you. But you also have to justify not liking Dimaga, TT1, Haypro (even though it was a mistake), and lots of other pros. If you don't like him for his streaming style, then don't watch him! But don't try and put yourself "above" his fans and mock/minisculize (is that a word? My english kinda sucks) their interest in a player's accomplishments. We're all just here to support the players we enjoy.
He seems to kind of be on a level of professionalism that is far below many other players (even some foreigners). Hopefully he can prove me wrong on that and start kicking ass. I'm down with Dragon all the way.

Millenium is really taking a huge risk signing this guy. If you want to overlook everything he has done and continue to idolize him just because he is funny and is a very entertaining streamer, I understand. I have watched his play, it is fantastic, and I love him as a player, he is hilarious and very fan loved. But as someone who wants eSports to be taken seriously (and that means just rewards for cheaters and unprofessional players) I can't support him playing professionally again. HF Dragon but I can't say GL. And I think Playhem bowing down to his fanatical fanbase's flaming of their organization (and now sponsoring him? wtf?) because of the Katu incident is more embarrassing to Playhem than the comments made by Katu himself.
Dissapointing. Instead of signing up a mediocre Korean with a questionable reputation, Millenium could have given some EU Terran talent a chance to break into the pro scene.

Professionalism doesn't always mean lack of forgiveness. Mistakes can be made, we're human beings. I personally don't think anyone should be cast out over a single - unclear - incident he was implied in.
You can take things seriously, and still make mistakes.
To be honest, the claim that since he may have stream cheated in the past and stated that he wouldn't play professionally anymore, he shouldn't, sounds a little bit childish.

Not that I minded him on the vikings though... I'll be looking forward to seeing Dragon play, and hopefully he'll compete in more tourneys, he's an amazing player and maybe this time he'll feel more comfortable with this team and stay a bit longer. And if Blizzard would just put LAN in SC2 we wouldn't have this stream cheating nonsense ever......
