In terms of career, he’s way ahead. In terms of skill level, I will keep learning from Nestea and keep catching up but I’m still quite behind. However, I will practise with the goal of passing Nestea one day. Interesting. He is either very humble or considers nestea better than him. Thanks for the translation. As a viewer it feels like DRG is stronger than Nestea currently (especially following results), so I wonder if DRG is catching up to the shadow of Nestea's dominance around june last year? Or whether he actually looks at Nestea's play currently and still feels like he's coming short despite the more average results? I'm pretty sure Nestea and DRG practice together as it is (I believe they practice ZvZ with each other since there are few zergs at that level in Korea), so DRG has probably seen a lot of Nestea that we haven't. I think the preview from TL sums it up pretty well; the only people Nestea lost to in this season of Code S are the two players who eventually made the finals in very close series. He said himself that his mind fogs up around the mid game and he gets rather impatient, so he rarely shows what he considers his full potential. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nestea play at levels close to DRG's right now.
That said, though, I do believe DRG's being incredibly humble. He's just playing so well, I can't see another Zerg doing anything better than he has.
Loving the friendship between DRG and Genius, btw. Watching them interact with each other and talk about each other cracks me up. xD

As a man, I thought it would be cool to show off his girlfriend after a victory. was quite hilarious.

Great interview, DRG's answer to the prize money question was hilarious.

Ahahah, the interviews with DRG are always the best.
Too bad Genius didn't win the finals, but I'm fine with DRG winning it all. For how long he's been around since the days of being a ladder god, it took him a long time to get to winning a finals. A well deserved championship.
Now let's see when a Protoss finally wins something since MC last did in March last year, a year void of any Protoss winner.

hahahhaha this is like the best interview ever!
Genius, KNOW THY PLACE!

this series was fun to watch, but its convinced me that the Phoenix upgrade is not something Protoss is gonna get basically ever in competitive play. Genius opened stargate or double stargate nearly every game, always built a bunch of phoenixes, took each game fairly into the lategame, and at one point even built a fleet beacon to mass carriers, DRG consistently built mutas (though didn't simply mass them), and Genius still never got the upgrade. Now, maybe if the upgrade didn't exist DRG wouldn't have transitioned away from mutas at all, so perhaps the upgrade serves some function as a deterrant, but its definitely not something thats actually gonne get researched.

DRG joins MVP, Polt, Nestea, MC and Jjakji to be GSL champions who won while having a girlfriend.
No confirmation if MMA or FruitDealer were dating someone during their title runs, but wouldn't be surprised.
Get laid = Get GSL title

Let's get some brainstorming in here. We need to make up a plan to get Polt a lovely and caring girlfriend. The poor boy sure needs some care after his ladder practice marathons. And he sure as hell needs some luck in order to get his 2nd trophy.

Polt already has a girlfriend, it's just that the Fionn curse is too strong

Hail to the champion, well deserved

I like DRG's personality ^^

So happy for DRG, well deserved win. Of course, Genius would have deserved it as well, but he was pretty clearly not the better player today, he made too many mistakes I feel.

Weren’t you short on practice time after attending MLG Arena?
Zerg isn’t a race that needs a lot of practice other than studying the maps and I was able to study them on the plane so it was fine. I finished my practice two days after coming back to Korea. I wonder how many people are going to interpret this as Zerg being OP instead of Zerg not having timing attacks but needing to just play defensive and react well.

I would interpret it this way. Good zerg players already have really strong core basics due to being forced to deal with all sorts of random shit each game. Tight build orders for a zerg do not require as much preparation time as compared to toss/terran. Very map-dependent race: need to blind-counter certain builds that are map-favored or simply prediction of opponent tech when having incomplete scouting information, and the need to all-in when the map sucks for late game.
